Rating: Summary: Leaves you thirsting for more Review: I got my copy [and] stayed up most of the night reading it an dI am proud to say that it did not dissapoint. The new defence against the dark arts teacher really annoyed me and at times I had to fight myself so that I didn't throw the book acrossed the room. Just as I thought that I would have to give in to my violent urges, Fred and George came to the rescue. IN The book, Harry seems to have changed quite a bit and his temper seems to run short on every occation. That taken into accout, "The Order of the Pheonix" still comes in as one of the best books of the year.
Rating: Summary: An excellent addition... Review: The long and eagerly-awaited Order of the Phoenix is a fine addition to the HP series. A fast-paced plot and interesting new characters and foils make the 896 page book a fast read (I read it in 6 hrs!!). As a huge fan of the series, I think that Phoenix adds a whole new dimension to the canon - it is darker than the others and reveals a new side of many characters. While JKR is somewhat given to over-lengthy descriptions, they do enhance the mood and style of the book. All in all, it was great. I am eagerly awaiting Book 6.
Rating: Summary: Another spell binding tale!! Review: This book took me only a day or so to read but it was excellent every page of the way! The characters were as funny as ever, although I found Harry's irritableness quite annoying. Cho and Harry finally hooked up at least somewhat... But with all the gloom aside this has to be the funniest book I've ever read!!! Quite witty with new Weasley's on the Quidditch team and Weasley's Wizard Wheezes fuctioning. Excellent, a story for everyone and anyone!!!!
Rating: Summary: Well worth the wait!! Review: I'm in a bit of a quandary - I can little resist being the first person on Amazon to review OOTP, but I of course have to be careful what I say, as this is still the first day of release. So, I'll be fairly brief and just say that I don't think readers will be disappointed. OOTP is an amazing adventure, and a joy to read. JK Rowling has without a doubt "done it again," not only continuing to make the overall story compelling, but continuing to surprise you with it's unexpected turns. If you have read and found credible any of the predictions made by fans on the internet (as I have - some are quite impressive), be prepared to be both amazed and a little disappointed - Jo managed for the most part to outsmart them all. Even the one significant thing readers picked up on that is revealed is not without a twist. Be prepared as well for a different kind of plot - the story is less a solitary adventure and more of a prelude, laying the clues and setting the course for the final two novels.I'm probably better off leaving it there - I hope you enjoy the book as much as me, and I look forward to hearing what you think - soon.
Rating: Summary: Rowling does it again! Review: Let me just keep this short and sweet. Harry Potter is probably one of the best book series ever written. Though it's not finished, (two more books left) it's already has an established fan base. Not just because of the books, but because of movies, author biographies, and merchandise. I can still remember reading the first book, it was amazing. The detail in the book and the incredible way she describes everything is so captivating, that you can never put these books down! After the first one's success, (which I heard was actually written on a long train ride) there was a second, third and fourth, all being excellent. Now on to THIS book. I've only read the first one hundred and fifty pages or so, but I think Rowling has her best book yet so far. Her style of writing is still here. This books seems just a bit different from the other ones...it seems Harry and his friends are incredibly troubled in this book much more than the others. For you video gamers, this book is like the Final Fantasy 8 of the Final Fantasy series. Everyone was thinking AWESOME! after Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 8 wasn't the same, but it was still excellent, and a new twist from the series. Any person who has ever even heard the two words, "Harry" and "Potter" must read this book, or give it a chance at least. 5 stars, awesome!
Rating: Summary: Another fantastic story telling web... a real page turner! Review: WOW! I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it! I highly recommend this book! Harry Potter is now 15 and though this book is a bit darker than the rest of the series, I found it simply entrancing. When do we get the next installment?
Rating: Summary: Best one yet. Review: Since getting this book I've not been able to put it down. The pace of this book is just right without any long drwan out parts. Rowling has down another hit. Not giving anthing way, just get the book!!!!
Rating: Summary: Yowzas! Review: Its been a long 3 years since Harry's last adventure on paper. Has the wait been worth it you ask? Definitly! I love this book! It now topples over PoA as my favorite Potter adventure. I really dont want to spoil anything for anyone because the book is so new and dont want to ruin it for anyone unknowingly. This book truly is "magical" and I give my praise to Mrs. Rowling for a job well done in book five.
Rating: Summary: Leaps and bounds beyond books one-four... Review: After purchasing this book last night through a lucky break, I figuratively DEVOURED it in a marathon session lasting until this afternoon. The emotions the story flared were incredible, and I still find it difficult to believe that Rowling didn't hire a much more experienced writer to push out this book. Needless to say, the wait was worth it. The plot, imagery, and stylistic techniques are much more mature and complex than anything Rowling has published before. Harry truly begins to come-of-age, and as such begins a process of awareness that leads him to recognize the foibles of older heroic figures who were once faillessly admired. He also begins a visible process of self-examination that manifests itself in standard adolescent reactions: nearly-tangible disillusionment and exciting crushes. But Rowling doesn't stop there. She continues to expand Harry's world into muggle-inhabited London, where she throws in a dash of political criticism for good measure. Rowling's work, unlike many long-running childrens' book series, seems as if it cannot rust. Never does Phoenix seem like a rehash of earlier plotlines, and the author gives brief plot reminders after the reintroduction of concepts and characters from previous books. Yet Order of the Phoenix maintains all that made the other books so appealing to such a wide range of interests: the whimsical characters, the creative depiction of the wizards' culture, and, ultimately, an assertion of the wizards' fallbility and undeniable humanity.
Rating: Summary: Completely Awestriking! Review: Harry's latest adventure was surely the best yet. The world of witch craft and wizardry that one becomes part of when reading a Harry Potter novel was very nice to reenter. Finally, after three years of waiting, we finally have it - Harry Potter 5!
