Rating: Summary: Can't Wait For #6 Review: Amazing. A perfect 5th installment, Order of the Phoenix is wonderfully dark, with a good look at the power and effects of denial. The characters continue to develop strongly - reminds me what it was like to be 15. Don't let it get away.
Rating: Summary: The best Harry Potter series ever. Period. Review: After spending 22 reading hours completing this Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, non-stop, this is the book that I will never truely forget. Harry's mind takes beyond into a deeper setting where he faces new challanges. A Defense against the Dark Arts teacher who poisoned Harry like honey. Dobby, the house elf, is more concerned with Harry. And the growing threat of Voldemort, almost in the part where Harry almost nearly get killed. Although the book is 870 pages, the story plot goes in a more quicker speed if one reads more. I find the fifth Harry Potter series to be addictive by the story plot, and it was hard for me to stop reading. I recommend this book to everybody, and to me, this is the best Harry Potter series book ever since the Goblet of Fire. Buy it today.
Rating: Summary: Rowling's efforts worth the wait Review: I am amazed at how fast the pages seemed to go by in this lastest installment of the Harry Potter series. I finished the book in under 12 hours and wish that I had paced myself a bit more. The imagery that Rowling uses keeps the reader completely absorbed into Potter's world. In this book, I can feel Harry's pain and anger, and all the other emotions that come with growing up. I will not ruin any plot points, but I should warn readers that toward the end, the loss of one of the greater characters made me cry, and the revelations that Dumbledore explains to Harry make me need Rowling not to take 3 years with the next book.
Rating: Summary: Dark, disappointing, and doesn't further the overall plot Review: Rather disappointing after such a long wait. Very dark gloomy feel, and rather depressing. Sorry. I'd expected a bit more. Harry's classes were the only bright spot. Audrey
Rating: Summary: Worth the Wait! Review: In the latest installment of the Harry Potter series, Harry faces even greater obstacles than in the previous books. The Ministry of Magic is determined to remove Dumbledore from the Headmaster position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and to discredit Harry through unflattering articles in the Daily Prophet. At the same time, Harry is also struggling to control his strong emotions, his anger and frustration at being shut out of the adult only "Order of the Phoenix" and his emerging romantic feelings for Cho Chang (and her possible reciprocation). J.K. Rowling has crafted another fast paced, well plotted novel that keeps readers engaged and flying through the pages. Yet, as promised, she has also presented readers with a darker version of Harry and of the wizarding world. Harry, in the latest book, is more of a flawed character than in the previous four works- Harry continues to struggle with his place in the world and his background and his own obsessions threaten his life and that of his friends. Although at times the book's familar structure may seem overfamiliar to readers of the previous books, Rowling rewards her readers by answering questions raised in the previous books and by pushing the series close to an ultimate confrontation and resolution. Now the wait for book 6 begins.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I laughed, I cried, I cheered Peeves on... I also couldn't put it down! What can I say? ;) I've never managed to read a book this long in so little time. If you haven't read it yet, get your hands on a copy. Now, Ms. Rowling--where's number 6?
Rating: Summary: Harry's in trouble, Ron as a keeper and Hermione lightens up Review: First off, before you read my review. I am sorry if my english is not very good. But be patience with me, thank you. Wonderful story, I must say. Guess what, Ron is now playing for keeper along with his sister Ginny Weasley, a new seeker who replaces Harry. Why replaces Harry? Buy it or borrow from library and find it out. What about the snogging (kissing), is there any? Not alot, I think there's one in the book. It's Cho and Harry, Harry told Ron, who asked him how the kissing went with Cho, he replies 'Wet' because that time Cho was crying. Whatever happened between Harry Potter and Cho Chang is little complicated but that's ok. So far, it's better than the overall four books. But GoF (4th) and PoA (3rd) is still my favorite because of Ron and Hermione. He he, I know it's pointless to say that. =P To be honest, I am little disappointed about the Ron/Hermione scene. Nothing chemistry between them, but some fights they had in the 5th book, some had agreement, and it's not quite bad. Finally, Harry had told Ron and Hermione to shut up after they kept bickering at each other, and when Harry tells them, then both break down the fight, suddenly stop bickering. However.. I can't blame JK Rowling, she did a great job writing her book, it took her 3 years to finish it. =) And sadly, I found about the death that JK Rowling had told us about.., it's not McGongalls, Dumbledore, Cho Chang, Colin Creevey (Many people thought the death is going to be Colin, I thought that too), and others. When I read, and found who is the death. I feel sad. I don't want to spoil it. You should buy the book. It's enjoyable book to read, of course.. except the death part which I don't like reading.. For people who likes Harry Potter, but not die-hard fan of HP series - I suggest you to go to library. Don't buy it, it will waste your money unless you want to buy it as a collection. Or unless, you want to wait till the paperback comes out, ... I have the whole 5 books as collection, all of them are hardcover. I rate it 5 stars *****
Rating: Summary: This is the best book ever! Review: I finished this book in one day because I LITERALLY could not put it down. This is the best of the series. Young Harry is slowly growing up and other supporting characters are fleshed out even more than in the previous books of the series. The book contains many subtle themes that can only be appreciated by a more mature mind, but the plot is still dynamic and fluid enough to keep even the most hyperactive of brats entertained!
Rating: Summary: Do you still believe in majick? Read this book. Review: I was able to obtain a copy of this book at a Midnight Release Party at a local bookstore. I waited in line for over an hour. I then went home and commenced to reading it. I read it for five hours straight. I read until my eyes wouldn't stay open. I woke up and read it several more hours. It is amazing. Harry Potter will never be the same again. His world changes in the most amazing ways; ways that most teenage boys never have to endure. I won't ruin it by giving away details but I will say this: I laughed, I cried, I can't wait for the next one.
Rating: Summary: Wow..... Review: *CAUTION! CONTAINS SPOILERS* I finished the book a few hours ago and I have been trying to digest it since. Although the fourth installment in the Harry Potter series was a bit darker and hastily written, Rowling has returned to her original writing style that first drew me to the books. Harry is growing up, coping not only with normal adolescent issues, but the added circumstances of his past, the return of Lord Voldemort, and a teacher even worse than Snape. Not to mention that hardley anyone outside his inner-circle of friends believe him. As with the first three books, there is a constant underlying adventure (in the case, Harry's dreams about a mysterious door he can never seem to reach) as well as "mini-adventures" such as the mayhem of the school when Dumbledore is fired, a Centaur for a teacher, and the appearance Hagrid's not-so-little brother. This is a MUST READ for anyone who has ever read a Harry Potter book, and if you haven't, go, read now. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the most highly anticipated book in Scholastic's history (more than doubling the previous record number of first prints, which, coincidentally, was held by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), also serves as somewhat of an intermediant book. Never before have I been so set up and anticipating the events for the next book.
