Summary: this was a great book
Review: this Harry Potter book was a great work i really enjoyed reading it!

Summary: WOW!!!
Review: Despite my worst fears Harry has gotten emotionally older. He is now sullen, sarcastic, egotistical and a teenager. This book was worth the three year wait. I'm not going to reveal any secrets but they're there. My only regret is that book number 6 isn't coming out tomorrow.

Summary: The best yet? Different for sure.
Review: Wow. I just finished the book and, boy, was it different from any previous Potter outings. It picked up with the same darker tone that the Goblet of Fire ended with, if not the exact same circumstances. There was the same rising frustration at the obstacles placed in Harry's path, though several characters do point out that many of these obstacles are of Harry's own making. Seldom is a protagonist called stupid more often. And other illusions from previous books are shed. As Harry grows up, so does the cost of the choices he must make. Interesting new characters are developed, and hard facts about the past are learned, and exciting goundwork is laid for the remaining two books. The constant references to how much homework he had were tedious, we get it, move on, but all in all, I find that Rowling's writing is growing up just as nicely as Harry is. Also postive are the fact that Hermione and Ron finally get lives of their own!

Summary: Many explanations, but the fight is to begin
Review: In the fifth book of the series, Rowling increases the action, and the explanations. We'll meet the Order of the Phoenix, the Ministry of Magic builiding and, unfortunately, we'll witness an unpleasant death (I am not going to ruin the expectation for those who haven't finished or even read the book) Yet, it's a book whose story becomes so cumulative and with many things that sort out making difficult to understand at first reading all the names, situations. This can be denominated the book of the parted ways: those who know the truth of Voldemort's return against those who are blind. In the end, we'll discover that the real fight is set to begin on next book.

Summary: Lots more with book 5
Review: WOW- this book certainly gives you LOTS more... pages first, but then there are LOTS more characters (especially good guys), LOTS more action and spells zipping around, LOTS more pressure with those OWL exams hovering over everyone heads this year, LOTS more of Voldermort (I am not afraid to write his name) and just what is making him so set on destroying Harry, and finally LOTS more insight into Harry's parent's past and what the next 2 years will hold for Harry at Hogwarts. Harry is certainly an older (though not so much wiser) wizard in this book and if he has always been a perfect (note I did not say prefect) hero, his image may get a little tarnished at times in this accounting of his 5th year at Hogwats. In fact, several major characters begin to show a remarkably human side, mistakes are made and there is no going back to remedy the choices, bad or good. As always, Rowling is not afraid to push the envelope and write what she feels is true to Harry's story, not always pretty, never neatly tied with a bow, and always consistant with the themes of good and evil and how to decide which is which. Bring on #6....

Summary: I cried and cried
Review: It has everything, adventure, excitement, and an insight into our young protagonist's emotions. It also gives the reader insight into other various characters motives and emotions.
I cried, yes. My favorite character died in the the climactic battle scene.
And no, I won;t tell who it was....

Summary: Book 5 is finally here.
Review: Rowling leads this year's story off with a bang and the action keeps going. Unlike the previous books, Harry is in deep throughout the year and as promised some of the revelations hinted at are finally revealed. Of course, new questions are raised, but finally, we learn why Voldemort is after Harry. A definate must for any HP fan.

Summary: Older, darker, more intriguing
Review: I was one of the many people who have been waiting for 3+ years for this to come out, and overall I'd say it was worth the wait.

We follow Harry through his 5th year at Hogwarts. We were warned in the very tantalizing (albeit not-so-informative) teasers and interviews that this would be a darker book, with a real adolescent, angry Harry, and those warnings were spot on. This book encompasses a very accurate portrayal of a 15-year-old boy, probably the best possible while still being G-rated.

Overall, I really *really* liked the story. Why only 4 stars? It's very hard to describe with out giving away the plot. Although I liked it, and much was finally explained (readers get the pay-off on many unanswered questions, including why Voldemort killed Harry's parents, why Harry's aunt and uncle took him in if they despised him so much, and more), I felt the overall "adventure" was weaker than previously; there was less driving the plot this time around. In previous books, there was the foreboding of something that was going to happen, and Harry, Ron and Hermione were driven to figure out what was going on. This time, however, there was much less of a distinct threat, other than the knowledge that Voldemort has risen again (which he did in book 4). As such, I felt the big battle scene at the end was longer, more movie-like than plot driven, and overall weaker than in other books in the series.

However, overall, this is a really good book. I think it is *far* less appropriate for younger readers, simply because of the anger and discord that some of the characters feel. Life is far less black-and-white for Harry, and he finally sees some of the humanity in Professor Snape, and some negative qualities in Sirius, Harry's godfather. The tangible "bad-guys" are the Ministry of Magic and Professor Umbridge (sent by the Ministry) for much of the book, although neither is able to be classified as "pure-evil", the way the Death-Eaters and past bad-guys have been.

This book is 100% worth the read, but it makes the most sense in the context of the other books, and not as a stand-alone story.

Summary: Excellent
Review: Well the fifth Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix, has finally come out and it definately lives up to all the hype. As the previous additions to the Harry Potter series this book increases not only in size, but the reading level increases creating a feeling that Harry Potter himself is becoming older.
The plot in this story is also much deeper and more winding than all the other stories. All in all i found the story darker yet more enjoyable, leaving me yearning for the next installment.
Seriously man, I need my fix.

Summary: I want more !!
Review: I loved this book, and can recommend it to everybody. In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", we see all our friends again.

After a very boring summer with the Dudley's without news from his friends (at least not interesting news), Harry is attacked by 2 dementors (he makes them run). That will lead to all kinds of events, the most important probably being that Dumbledore sends for him, and he gets to know the place where the Order of the Fenix meets.

Harry is 15, and he is already an adolescent. Besides having to deal with all that means (for example bursts of temper, feeling that nobody understands you, not understanding girls), he must worry about Lord Voldemort. Not only that: the Daily Prophet (the magic world's newspaper) has been strongly implying that he is crazy, or at the very least delusional, and that brings him problems with many people.

That is in part due to the influence of Fudge, minister of magic, who doesn't believe (or doesn't want to believe)that Voldemort has returned from the dead, and has turned against those who, like Harry and Dumbledore, are prepared to face the facts. Trying to limit Dumbledore influence in the magic world, Fudge sends Dolores Umbridge to Hogwarts as his envoy, and she slowly tries to take power from the headmaster. Umbridge, senior undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, becomes teacher of Defense Against Dark Arts, and then also High Inquisitor of Hogwarts.

This book shows also how, in his fifth year at Hogwarts, the all important OWLs (Ordinary Wizarding Levels examinations)approach, and Harry's, Hermione's and Ron's dilemma regarding one of the subjects of that exam, Defense Against Dark Arts, because their teacher (Umbridge) refuses to let them practice the spells they are supposed to know. That brings us to a secret club, in which Harry teaches others, as a result from an idea of Hermione. Are they caught or not? Is their practise useful? --> Read the book :)

We see how Harry grows as a character, and the way in which he deals with the unpleasant things others say about him and certain facts he would rather not know. We get to know a little more about Neville (I like the way he overcomes his fear to help his friends), Ginny (who is much more interesting now that she isn't in love with Harry, thus being able to talk more than 2 words without stammering)and the Weasley's (love the twins). Is it me or there is romance in the air for Ron and Hermione in future books? I guess will see...

Harry gets to know more about himself, about his friends and enemies. He has to deal with great grief, but has also reason to smile. In the whole, a great book... I cannot wait to read the next one in the series !!
