Summary: wow...
Review: Well, i must say i have the utmost respect for amazon.com for shipping my copy of Harry Potter so that it arrived promptly June 21st. I was very impressed by the latest installment of the series, and I enjoyed reading it. There is a lot of tension throughout the book, especially in the beginning. There appear to be many loose ends in the plot, but Rowling ties them up in the end after a stunning climax. ... To sum it up, another wild and satisfying ride throughout the trials and tribulations of a very extraordinary young wizard. In my opinion, it was an excellent book and I can't wait to read it again!

Summary: i'm the first to review it!!!!!
Review: the 870 pages of this book go too quickly, its the best and most exciting one in the series so far but it is also probably the saddest. If you liked the other harry potter books i have no doubts that you will love this one too.

Summary: Another bridging book....
Review: As in book 4, this book has no real end of plot... just the end of the year. All it makes me want to do is get book 6!

I liked the red Herrings that were rampant (as in, who is actually going to die) and I have a new favorite character in Luna Lovegood, the spacy, but wonderful ravenclaw.

Summary: Good, but longer than it needed to be
Review: Though I bought _Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix_ a good six months in advance read it eagerly the first day it came out, I confess to being a little bit disappointed at this most recent installment of what will no doubt turn out to be the most popular literary franchise of all time. The book weighs in at almost 900 pages, but the story could have been told in about 600. J.K. Rowling has reached the stage in her career where she no longer has to listen to what editors have to say. This is not usually a good thing, and, in this case, leads to a lot of unnecessary, poorly-paced prose and more than a few plot dead ends.

That said, though, there is plenty in _The Order of the Pheonix_ of what appeals to Harry Potter fans generally. The general plot is every bit as exciting as other Potter books, and the characters are growing up and starting to act like teenagers. Rowling does a good job of revealing some of the plot mysteries of the overall story cycle without tipping her hat too much. I'm defininitely glad that I read the book, and I have no problem reading a 900 page book with a 900 page story to tell. But I would have enjoyed the book more if Rowling had trimmed a considerable amount of fat before sending this one along.

Summary: By Far the Best Book in the Series
Review: I just finished reading the most wonderful book that I have read in months. It started out a bit differently, with Harry listening for any news of Voldemort's return. He has been ridiculed by newspapers and tabloids for being attention seeking and mentally disturbed. He has to deal with a Dudley who seems to have matured over night. When a mysterious attack by terrifying old enemies turns Harry's summer from boredom into an all new adventure. Things only get more interesting as Harry returns to school. There is a new griffindor quidditch team keeper. Girl-troubles . Draco Malfoy is as pesky as ever. There is a disturbingly nasty defense against the dark arts teacher(hem hem) Corrupt powers that be. And even though Voldemort has returned, no one will believe Harry about the truth.

Summary: J.K. Rowling has outdone herself -- again.
Review: I beleive that the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is J. K. Rowlings greatest acheivement to date. She has brought her writing sophistication to an entirely new level. Throughout the series, Rowling's books have increased in intensity and maturity. She truly captures the actions and emotions of her characters. As a fifteen-year old, I can relate to and understand Harry's emotions and actions, for I witness similar happenings everyday. In this book, Rowling introduces an entirely new and inventive list of characters who provide assistance (and quite the opposite of which) to Harry. Rowling also opens up an entirely new world to the reader through Harry's travels to Grimmauld Place, St. Mungos, and the Ministry of Magic. Rowling has raised the standard for fiction writing all around the world. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix should be revered as one of the most brilliant fiction novels today. Through this latest novel, J.K. Rowling proves yet again that she is one of the most brilliant and inventive writers of our time.

Summary: Angsty
Review: I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, and having read all the books several times, I was greatly looking forward to the fifth installment. JK Rowling did not let us down! The book is extremely well-written, that's not a surprise, and the plot is well thought out. There's plenty of book to keep everyone busy reading for a while--unless you're like me, dead set on reading it all on the first day.

However, I was disappointed with one aspect of the book: and that is Harry himself. Harry seems to be going through adolescence and not managing well, because his temper is extremely volatile. He's always angry at someone; he's always frustrated with everything, and the book becomes completely angsty. He blows up at everyone from Dumbledore to Cho Chang to his best friends.

On top of that, the book deals with a lot of very, very deep subjects. Whereas the beginning books in the series only touched on these subjects, this book dives in deep. The front of my newspaper displayed a kid about seven years old reading this book, and I couldn't help but wonder, will the younger fans of Harry Potter be able to fathom these topics, or will they be confused?

Despite these factors, this book is excellent, as is every other Harry Potter book. Fred and George return for their last year and make a spectacular grand exit, and their antics never fail to make me laugh. New characters are introduced, old characters evolve, old mysteries are solved and new mysteries leave the mind reeling for more. An excellent book, despite the angst.

Summary: Excellent Read! Starts slow, but moves quickly.
Review: Once you get past the first 250 pages of Harry's anger, the book moves with the same level of excitement & adventure as the first four. Harry is so busy being angry in the beginning that the interchange between him and his compatriots is stilted, and it is hard not to get a bit irritated. However, once he gets into the school year the book pulls you in and you won't want to put it down until Harry and Voldemort come together again in another hair-raising battle of good vs. evil. I was also very eager to learn why Dumbledore was avoiding Harry, and Rowling satisfies all questions at the end while leaving us once again awaiting the next confrontation of Harry and Voldemort. I plan on re-reading the book again soon, singularly and also together with the rest of the series. Rowlings treatment of adolescent emotions is superb, which is probably why Harry is a bit irritating at the beginning. Three cheers for another interesting installment in Harry's life!

Summary: Exciting yet Disapponting
Review: Highly anticipated is right.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix had me, not an obsessive-compulsive fan, running out to buy the book and read it. Taking me an incredibly long 2 days to read it, I ingested all 890-something pages stopping many times because the book didn't seem to hold my interest as much as the first four had. It was still more capitvating and a much better book than any I had read recently, and I must say it was quite entertaining. Some lines made me laugh out loud in surprise, but some of the time I felt like JK Rowling was taking the reader nowhere. I wanted her to stop with the incessant repeition of some ideas and just get to The Point already. The last 100 or so pages (the POINT) weren't as exciting as they usually are, in face it seemed muddled and all over the place. However, what I call "The Explanation", in which Dumbledore gives a long speech to Harry, describing what just happened and also revealing some new information. Terrific, but I almost feel like nothing new has been achieved and we are right back on Square 1. The new characters were cute, and the "death" wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and overall it's definitely worth a read, if for nothing else than to have something to talk about to your sons and daughter. So yes, get back to that really long book, and do enjoy!

Summary: Amazing, incredible, thrilling and brilliant...
Review: Mere words cannot describe the awe and respect I have for Joanne Kathleen Rowling right now. The Order of the Phoenix was magnificant in every aspect... it made me laugh, and it made me cry as well. Wonderful, wonderful, beautiful and enchanting book...

When's she gonna finish the next one...!
