Summary: THE BEST HARRY POTTER BOOK SO FAR!
Review: This is the highly anticipated 5th ook in the Harry Potter series. It is also the best, by my opinion.
This book portrays Harry as a 15-year-old adolesent, showing us his crushes on Ravenclaw seeker Cho Chang, his determination, and most of all, his anger. In this book, perhaps the darkest book in the entire series, he is angry for all the bad hands he's been dealt over the years, lashing out at almost everyone and letting his anger out on them. Ron and Hermione don't change much, personality-wise, but their role in the story becomes consideringly more important.
I, for one, was very eager to learn what Dumbledore "should have told him five years ago" and was amazed at how well J.K. Rowling had explained all the strange happenings and adventures that had occured during the previous Harry Potter books. The whole book is extremely well done and emotional. One of the main characters dies very dramatically.
Like I said, it's the best Harry Potter book so far, also the most vibrant, visual, exciting, dramatic, humorous, and just about any other descriptive word one would give to a five-star book. Harry Potter fans won't be dissapointed.

Summary: Another year at Hogwarts... FINALY!!!
Review: Anyway, as ecpected, the fifth novel in the awesome Harry Potter series is to die for. If possible, I think this one highly overshines the others. I can't keep my nose out of this book for a second! (well... except for right now obviously)
The plot in this book is HIGHLY developed. In my opinion, Harry seems more like a real person in this book. His personality is more defined and understandible. And he finaly TELLS PEOPLE OFF!! Even if it is the weird british way of telling people off. In my opinion, everyone, including his friends, finaly get what they deserve. (tho, he could yell more at teachers than at Ron and Hermione)
And of course there is another wonderfly evil Defence Against the Dark Arts Teacher. But I won't spoil anymore of the story here.
Well... seeing to how typing this is cutting time away from reading the other half of the book, I'll just say this... This book was worth the ridiculous wait, and is the best one so far!!!

Summary: Fabulously Dark
Review: This is not the same HP we've come to know and love. Not only is the plot of _O.O.P._ darker, Harry is depressed and, at times, a surly, knuckle-headed, pain. Of course, it's understandable given the circumstances (i.e. he wants to save the planet from the forces of evil, but no one believes his story, not to mention the fact that he's 15 and just gets a bit pissy on occasion - as anyone who has, or knows, or is a 15 year old will tell you is quite common), and he never ceases to be our hero, but things have changed in the magical world, and not every fan is going to be happy with the changes.

It's hard to say too much without spoiling the many surprises in the book, but there are a few things that are worth mentioning. Snape becomes something of a sympathetic character, and while you certainly still don't want to be his buddy, you get a glimpse into his psyche (hmmm.... what familiar magical instrument makes that possible, do you suppose?), and some of his nastiness makes sense. There's also a vile new teacher, Professor Umbridge; few literary figures have ever evoked such a visceral response in me... she's just foul, as Hermione might say.

There are also some great new characters: the real Moody, some awesome Aurors, and a wacky Ravenclaw fourth-year. And all of your favorites return: Lupin, Sirius, etc. Other characters are a bit more fleshed out, like Ginny and Cho. And, in a chapter called "The Only One He Ever Feared", we get to see just what a stud Dumbledore really is... it's fantastic to finally see him kick some serious butt.

The previous novels have tended to have big surprises at the end: Ginny is Slytherin's heir (so to speak) in II, Harry's Godfather appears in III, Lord Voldemort is back in IV. _O.O.P._ doesn't have any major revelations, but there's still a powerful ending; my husband, bless his empathetic little heart, finished it two hours before I did (we're one of those two-copies-the-first-day-it-came-out households), and the man was CRYING in the shower after he'd read the last chapter. I have to say that I didn't have the same response; the sadness that I felt over a much-loved character's death was mitigated by my relief that it wasn't any of a number of _other_ much loved characters. When I read it a second time (more recently), I _did_ cry... oh, I wish I could talk about why! But the ending does deliver, and leave you hoping that Book VI will take less time to write than V did.

_O. O. P._ doesn't have the enchanting, magical fun that the first books are so packed with, and, indeed, the first 400 pages or so are downright depressing. But the magical world continues to be fleshed out much more fully and convincingly than ever, and you'll wind up being even more invested in Harry's life (and Ron's, and Hermione's, and...).

Summary: AT LAST!
Review: This much anticipated book was well worth the wait, it did not dissapoint. We join Harry and friends in his 5th year and discover much more about him and why he is so important to the wizard world. I could not put this book down! A page turner indeed.

Summary: another winner for j.k.!
Review: The first word that comes to mind when comparing Harry Potter #5 with its predecessors? Different. Apart from being a darker and scarier tale than the others, we see a lot of changes within the characters themselves (such as Harry, who at 15 gets obnoxiously moody at times), some of which are unexpected but believable, and others that just don't seem possible. Percy Weasley, for example, transforms from a pompous-yet-lovable stickler for rules into a highly ambitious and ruthless wizard reminiscent of the elder Bartemius Crouch. Cornelius Fudge is equally disapponting.
Also unlike the previous novels, #5 can be split into two parts: the first 150 pages and the last 720. I found it very difficult to get immersed in the story during the beginning, which contained several forgettable incidents and seemed to be floundering until chapter nine. At that point, the novel regained the quiet charm and frequent comic relief that made Rowling successful and began to read like the previous four novels, quickly catching my attention (it kept me awake almost all night long, trying to finish) and holding it. The first part deserves a rating of 2 1/2 or 3 stars, and the second deserves all five.
#5 also recognizes Harry's 5th year as a pivotal year in his life and growth. Cho Chang returns, and there are several more hints that Ron and Hermione are perfect for one another. Harry also receives his first major experience of jealousy (I won't spoil it for you) and learns more about his parents' as well as his own past. There is a lot more character development, adding complexity to the once-flat personalities of people, including Professors Snape and Dumbledore, and James Potter. Even Fred and George are not always lighthearted.
Overall, I would definitely recommend #5 to any Potter fan - besides a lot of insight into the inner world of the characters, it's a wonderfully exciting and complex story, and long enough to be thoroughly satisfying. Have fun reading it!

Summary: You will get tired of holding this book!
Review: I could not put it down. Not quite the page turning power of book 4 but it is a completely different book. Harry is more mature and Rowling includes more of the "real" struggles (i.e. coming to grips with the fact your parents aren't perfect, trying to understand women, what will they do then I leave school) and intensely details the educational struggles as the 5th years take their O.W.L. exams.

The dark theme set at the end of book four continues. Unlike the previous books, there is little background information provided and immeadiately the action begins. Rowling manages to flesh out the Dursley's a bit more and brings the mystery about Privett' Drive being somehow safe straight into question.

It continues and continues, wheel upon wheel. You'll love the heroes, hate the villians, and laugh at the Weasley twins. BRAVO!

The only negative comment is how the author keeps hammering the point home that Harry feels angry, frustrated, and lonely. A forest or two could have been spared.

Buy it. Buy it. Buy it. Spend the next 6 months reading it to your children.

Summary: You won't be disappointed...
Review: Harry Potter fans will not be disappointed at the latest installment in the Rowling series. I read the 870 page book in less than two days time, as it is such a pageturner one will find it hard to put down. (There is a dent in my couch to prove it). The author's vivid imagery brings you into the story, and you will laugh, cry, and expunge shocked gasps as the twists and turns are revealed. I will not spoil the plot by going into detail, but prepare to gain knowledge that finally details Harry's connection to Voldemort. Brava to the esteemed author, for another brilliant piece. Now, the hardest part is waiting for the next two... Enjoy!!

Summary: Loved the newest addition!!
Review: Finished after a marathon reading day!! This was worth any amount of wait! I will now have to re-read, as I charged through it, rushing to see what might happen next! She did wonderful, not afraid to kill characters (won't reveal who...), or shy away from things that might be disturbing to younger readers. Definite read for all age levels! ENJOY!!!!!!!

Summary: Just Finished Sunday June 22nd
Review: I just finished the book! It only took me 17 hours to read. It is so good. It explains a lot but still not enough to make you not want to read the next 2. It does seem kinda angry and dark like J.K. Rowling said but the mental pictures Ms. Rowling paints with her words is amazing. I really have to say that the movies don't do her writing justice. This is a must read for everyone who loves Harry Potter! Happy Reading!!
