Summary: Truly incredible
Review: I don't know how she manages to do it, but she does. This book can be summed up in one word... incredible. That's really all I have to say. Incredible. I loved it, couldn't put it down. I finished it in less than 24 hours, it's just that now I'm a bit sad about having to wait for the next one to come out. :) Fantastic book.

Summary: Darker, scarier, loaded with allegory.....
Review: Imagine the power of the person who can have millions reading the same book, the same day, all over the world - fortunately, JK Rowling seems a benign sort. This book is loaded with grounds for discussion, for thoughtful comparative analysis of real-life events going on in the world today - attempts at suppression of dissent, stifling of thought, mediocrity in education, bullying, the list goes on and over it all, a rip-roaring good story of the unending battle of good versus evil - but who is evil? Harry is angry and discovering that being closer to adulthood is not all its cracked up to be. You recall all over again the thrill and misery of being 15 and by the time you put the book down hours and hours after you began and your eyes are burning, you are amazed at just how good Ms. Rowling has gotten at this. Book one now seems simple by comparison. Such a pity you can't put book five down until you finish it, since you now begin the long wait for book six.......

Summary: Older fan
Review: If I said the book was horrible would you care?? you are probably going to buy it anyway.

Fortunately the book does not stink, it is much better then the fourth and several loose ends finaly get tied up. There are many touching moments in this book and several funny ones as well. While I will admit that the book may be long for young readers I don not think that they will mind, if anything they will enjoy it, because they will have more potter to read. I will state however that I don't think that this book is age appropiate for younger readers. i say this when I compae it to the first three books.
Overall a really good read that people of all ages will enjoy.

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: Easily the best of the books! Emotions run high as you're taken back to Hogwarts and through more of the Wizarding world. Finally some support for Harry in the forms of grown and powerful wizards! THE TRUTH OF HARRY'S PAST! A WONDERFUL BOOK!

Summary: Wow! The first reviewer!
Review: Just finished Harry Potter, book 5, this afternoon. Now what to say about it. Hmmm...

Harry is going through a great deal of inner turmoil this time around. He's angry, and doesn't know which way to turn with his rage. I found it quite annoying at first, especially since it goes on for some time, but upon reflection, it makes a lot of sense. Harry feels very much left out in the cold, and in his situation, that's a bad thing. Voldermort is back, he wants to kill you, and no one you know is talking to you about it. Harry certainly isn't a child anymore, but neither is he an adult, and he lacks the experience to deal with his feelings. And this year, there is a great deal for him to worry about as folks clandestinely prepare to stop Voldermort while the Ministry of Magic and Professor Umbridge make things increasingly difficult.

I found myself unable to stop reading the book as things go progressively downhill for Harry and his friends at Hogwarts. When things can't possibly get worse, they do. The insight into both Severus Snape and James Potter's past relationship is quite revealing, and keeps you from looking the same at either of them. But amongst all of this, there is hope. Dumbledore's Army" is something I expect to see continued in book 6, now that the Death Eaters have been engaged. Fred and George exceeded my every expectation when they closed out their time at Hogwarts, and Neville is looking more promising as he ages. His parents would be proud of him.

Rowling ties in a lot of information from prior books, something I found to round out the story and give it a better feel. It was definitely a fun read, and one I plan to go through again.

Summary: Rowling Did It Again
Review: J.K. Rowling has done it again. After three long years, the fifth installment of Harry Potter has arrived and it is as enchanting as ever. More mature, poly-dimensional versions of everyone's favorite characters have returned to Hogwarts for their grandest adventure yet. A must have for any Potter fan, Book 5 is, hands down, the best so far in the Potter series. Jo Rowling should be commended for having written an 870 page book that you just can't put down. I recommend it for adults and children alike.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Flawed--but still an engrossing and fun read
Review: With this fifth installment Rowling has reached for more emptional depth as the characters mature. There is a real feal of teen age emotional conflict and confusion, however she tends to belabor the point and the plot sometimes suffers. There is also a lack of depth in a few of the characters. The emotional content that she stresses somtimes seems totally absent from her plot development with some events feeling abupt, which she tends to "clean up" later with a few, very few, words. The ending seems a bit contrived but it does explain the focus of the book.
Harry again is forced to face his nemesis and this time he feels alone, even though he has recruited a cadre of friends to help.
All in all a good read and the familiar characters, settings and themes feel like a return home to readers. The plot and themes may unfortunetly be a bit too advanced for a good portion of younger readers, but it is not as scary as the last two for them. Alone this is a fair to good book, as part of the series it is very enjoyable. This one will make a very good movie, probably a better movie than a book.

Summary: ...
Review: Well, the fifth Harry Potter book has finally arrived! In the beginning, I must admit, this book feels odd and not up to the standards of the previous books. I don't want to give too much away, but the beginning is not as good as I have come to expect from JK Rowling, however, that quickly changes as the books gets into the swing of things. Harry has developed nicely and his emotions are rich and complex, exactly as teenagers should be. Strange things begin to happen, and the corrupt governement, under Cornelius Fudge's orders, are doing many unfair and unjust things that have made me snort in duscust while I read in the privacy of my room!!! With Voldemort's (fear of the name only shows fear of the thing itself) return, the plot thickens and twists and keeps readers spellbound. Harry must deal with O.W.L.'s, quittich, new responsibilities given to him by Hermione and the corrupt and blinded government, that reminds me slightly of something happened today in many places. Perhaps JK Rowling had an under moral to be heard... The story is amazing, character development is the best, and this book with keep you tearing through the pages until it is over, and you will undoubtedly be revisitng this book again and again. Yes, all in all, I'd have to say there are only two words to describes the books final arrival. Ta Da!

Summary: What a ride!
Review: I have just finished book 5 of the Harry Potter series, by JK Rowling. Inside is a treasure of adventure, laughter, pain, joy, and loss. Rowling has an incredible gift to take someone on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is 870 pages of unceasing Story, with a capital S. You will not feel a moment of boredom, or a wish to skip any sections, however, you may find yourself staying up well past your bedtime, in order to finish "just one more chapter".

This book starts out, like all the others, with Harry having a miserable time at the home of his surrogate family, the Dursleys. He has been desperate to hear any news after the catastrophic happenings at the end of the last book, but has been unable to hear anything. But when he is attacked one night, he is quickly whisked away by close friends and thrust deep into the happenings of a secret society.

Once again, there is a new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher, but this time the teacher seems bent on making Harry's life a living hell. And what with the approaching OWLs (Ordinary Wizarding Level exams) and the ever present threat of Lord... well you-know-who's presence, Harry is in for the toughest year yet at the Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardy.

Many questions will be answered, and a couple new problems will be presented. And by the end of this book, SOMEbody will meet with a most unfortunate fate.

All in all, a most wonderful addition to the already fantastic series. It has definitely been worth the wait. But i think it only fair to state that these books are quickly moving out of the "children's" category. Intense violence and regular (implied)cursing from the main characters makes me wonder if these books shouldn't actually be read one a year, so that a child has the chance to grow into a similar state that harry is in before reading the next book. Of course, at this point in the series, even grown adults would be hard pressed to deny that this is just really good reading, no matter what the target audience. The subjects of rebellion, love, fear, anxiety, and anger should ring true in the hearts of ANYONE who was once young.

A 6 star book if ever there was one.
