Summary: Super story
Review: With plot lines twisted and convoluted as a sack of snakes, hearty battles twixt our heros and the villians, Harry, Hermione, and Ron coming of age, Order of the Phoenix comes across darker then its predecessors. From the opening volley to the final sentence, one is transported thru the inner agonizes of an emerging teenager. Not only battling the external evils of Lord Voldemort and his minions, our hero must also confront his own developing sense of self. In true adolescent fashion, Harry whipsaws the reader rapidly thru the conflicting emotions that plague youth. Truly a masterfully written missive.

From the moment this book reached my eager fingers, neither it or I rested until the story ended. It was with a pang of regret that I closed the completed book for now the wait begins again for the next installment of Harry's continuing adventures.

Mrs. Rawlings, Outstanding Ma'am. Truly outstanding.

Summary: Jump on the Hogwarts Express!
Review: Fans of the series should not be disapointed with the fifth book. Rowling has done it again, making it more compelling, adventurous and again taking us over as you dive into the 860 page book. It's Harry's fifth year, and it certainly is an interesting one. With a new DADA teacher, dealing with crushes and love, the evil that is You-Know-Who, friends, Quidditch, and loss, you won't want to put the book down. Plenty of surprises are in store, and even when you finish, you'll be yearning for the 6th book. The character that dies may or may not be who you expect, but has a greater impact than you might realize. Things are cleared up and things become more confusing, with revelations in store. Like I said, this book lives up to its name and Harry Potter has returned again taking over the hearts of his fans and record sales.

Summary: J.K. Rowling is a goddess
Review: The depths of J.K. Rowlings series never cease to amaze me. I don't know how she came up with all of this, but I bow down before her for it. Wow.

I read this book in about 9 hours, probably a record or something, but I just couldn't put it down. The new characters are wonderful; Umbridge is deliciously horrible, and when she started taking over Hogwarts, I was just begging for something to stop this woman from attacking all my favorite people. I love the background about Harry's father and Sirius, the old-married-couple-like realtionship between Ron and Hermione, and Harry's teenage anger and angst. I've been fifteen, and I know how it feels--I would have reacted the same way as Harry in a lot of those situations. I hated that he was so angry, but I could completely relate.

Rowling manages to combine the regular problems of a teenager--hormones, mood swings, school, new relationships--with a dark and magical tale of good and evil. Voldemort is a terrifying enemy, just as bad as Sauron and Morgoth in Tolkien's world. And now that I've read the second to last chapter about four times, I can only say this: poor Harry. If this year was hard, the next two are going to be much worse.

J.K. Rowling-please start writing the sixth book soon!

Summary: Good- But simply not as entertaining
Review: Well as you can tell I was very much anticipating this book after reading its full 870 pages of it in two days. The first 200 pages take place all before Harry even gets to Hogwarts and now that I look back on it, very little actually happened. The book has a strong sense of character change to it, but there were points when I could barely relate to Harry at all. I myself, being a 17 year old boy should be able to connect with Harry. Instead I feel at times that I want to have slapped him for what he said or did. My next paragraph will have a couple of Spoilers but believe me it is nothing you weren't already expecting.

The story builds up with a fair amount of mystery involved but much of it turns out to be inconsequential or never comes up again. There is a point where his new defense against the dark arts teacher confiscates his broom and won't give it back. After she is replaced, apparently Harry doesn't get his broom back because it is never mentioned again. The "twist" at the end when Dumbledore sits down and tells him "Something I should have told you five years ago," it turns out that (this is the big spoiler) all that he knows is that there was a prophecy that said that either him or Voldemort would be killed by one another. His fate is to either kill or be killed by Voldemort. Well DUH! Also someone dies but I won't give that away for the sake of some incentive to read the book.

The character development is good, Harry lears lessons and ends out the year more of a man, less of a child, but for much of his development he is too annoying to really care about. I think if WB wanted to make a movie out of this one, they should replace Daniel Radcliff with Hayden Christienson(Whiney!) for the scenes where Harry is complaining about something.

Overall, the imagery was good, the plot lost structure as the book continued, character development was complete but not nearly interestingly so. It was an interesting enough read overall but not up to Harry Potter(or children's book) standards. End result: The book was 400 pages longer than it needed to be and more expesive than what it was worth.

Summary: Another Amazing Year for Harry
Review: Harry Potter's adventure continues in the long awaited book five. Since the book has only been out three days, I'll avoid any spoilers. If you enjoyed the previous Harry Potter books, this one continues with the same characters you know, along with new interesting characters. The book is filled with drama, danger, and a good dose of humor as Harry and his friends continue their education at Hogwarts with one eye firmly watching for signs of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!

The book has a marvelous pace, with loads of detail from Harry's everyday at Hogwarts, without getting bogged down. This is a long book, but no detail seems irrelevant, especially if you're a Harry Potter fan.

Summary: Harry Potter hits the stars (again)
Review: The book is so good, its worth every ounce of its 2.8 pounds. youll sit down open your book start reading and you wont get up. one thing though, is dumbledore doesn't tell harry why voldemort wants to kill him in the first chapter, its in the last.

Summary: Good, but overly long, no spoilers...
Review: A good book, nice continuation of the HP series. Interesting twists and turns in the plot and development of the characters. I enjoyed reading it, but it seems that the books could have used a little tighter editing. Just seems that at almost 900 pages that some parts of the book could have been left out since they didn't do much to forward the plot (of this book, could be used for future books) but just added page count.

Summary: A book that brings the readers in and makes them feel.
Review: The fifth book in the Harry Potter series starts off its first chapter with explanation, wonder, anger, and action. It's a great opening for what proves to be a great book. The characters, both new and old, are still as original as ever (some more original than others). But it's not the originality that got me hooked, but the way the characters put the reader through emotions. The new DADA teacher actually made me feel a pang of anger, I actually felt proud of Ron and Neville, and I literally felt frustration, sorrow, and even was in a brief state of denial at a character's death. J.K. Rowling continues to grow as a writer, and I commend her for putting out an excellent book and an excellent chapter in the Harry Potter series.

Summary: Harry is growing up@
Review: As an avid reader of the first four books, I was biting my fingernails in anticipation of the fifth installment. J.K. Rowling did not disappoint!

This is not to say that this book is easy to read or pleasant in every aspect. Most remarkable to me is how Harry is really a 15-year-old, struggling with all the growing pains and mood swings of teenager-hood. You may not like him at first!

I'm not giving any spoilers. Read the book, enjoy its vivid descriptions and characters. And don't think about the time we'll have to wait for Book Six!

Summary: The best Harry Potter yet!
Review: This was the best book ever. I had been counting the days till it was released. I started reading the book and did not stop for sleep. The book made me feel everything - from laughter to hated to deep saddness. I do not what to spoil the plot, so I will only say that everyone should read this book. Rowling wrote a great stroy. It was darker then the others and I cried when one of the characters died. I felt that the character did not have to die, but Rowling dealt with death and the aftermath. The story helps to show how to deal with death. I have to say that there were some very interesting new characters, and some of the ones from the other books got more attention. I think that the best character besides Harry was Fred and George. They really topped themselves.
