Rating: Summary: Best one yet! Review: I got this book yesterday and its the best one yet! I love it! I don't know what to say! I don't want to spoil the story, but it's great! The wait was worth it! But it did take a while to come out, though. Well, if you liked the others, or you like the movies or even if you are new to the "Harry Potter" series, buy it. Don't ask why. Just buy it. NOW. You're not buying it are you? Don't make me hunt you down to buy it!!!! JUST DO IT NOW!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Not quite as good as the earlier books Review: While my husband and I enjoyed the book for all the reasons we liked the others (the detailed descriptions, interesting characters, and flat-out great writing), this book was a bit disappointing as there was no real plot to it. There was no mystery to be solved and not a whole lot of action. Most of the book had the characters waiting for something to happen and when the big action scene comes about, it was pretty *meh*.Again, it was interesting and fun to read, but you are left with the feeling of "Is that it?"
Rating: Summary: No longer only a children's book Review: Couldn't put this book down! True to JKR's style, it's filled with vivid descriptions, and very subtle hints. Like she said, Harry, in this book, is a very 'angry' Harry. Confused, and like all 15 yrs old, he carries the 'I-know-better-than-adults' attitude. I suspected the demise of the caracter given the hints she gave in earlier interviews, although she kept you guessing until the very end. I still cried, and I look forward to find her reasons. JKR has given a very good foundation for what promised to be a very good books 6 & 7. I just hope we don't have to wait another 3 yrs for the next installment.
Rating: Summary: J K Rowling is a genius. Review: Harry is growing up in this book. He has to deal with more than ever, and the tale is both beautiful and tragic. I have read the other four books in the series to my 4 and 5 year old children, but as the subjects in this book are rather over their heads at this time they will have to wait a few years before they read Order of the Phoenix. I highly recomend this book for anyone that has read the other 4 books in the series. It is truly a brilliant book!
Rating: Summary: What a ride! Review: Okay, here is the story. Harry Potter begins the book a little upset because after seeing the Dark Lord Voldemort return to power, it appears as if nothing is happening. He hears nothing from the wizarding world about any strange things happening and has even started watching the muggle new to learn of any strange deaths or wierd activities. Yet despite all of his efforts, Harry hasn't found anything out. Soon Harry becomes frustrated, he cant find anything in the Daily Prophet, or the muggle news, and he is getting nothing from his friends Ron and Hermione as far as information is concerned...plus the fact he is stuck with the Dursley's is just making Harry CRAZY! Little does he know that Harry's holiday life is going to change dramatically when he is attacked by... Okay everyone, there is a teaser for you. Just so you know this book moves! From the first chapter till the end of the book, it just flies. You get to visit the ministry of magic, learn about new powers in the wizarding world and learn some dark secrets about some of the wizards in Harry's life. Of course J.K. Rowling does a fantastic job as an author of building suspense and getting you excited about the book. Many have complained that the book is too long for the genre and for the target age group, however it is a wonderfully fantastic book for all ages as Harry is growing up, and so are it's fans, and this book goes into feelings that young teenagers have. Really aside from the magic of Harry Potter, this book is well written and beautifully displayed.
Rating: Summary: Great Story, moves the story arc along nicely. Review: Having read the whole book in one giant 10hr marathon, I can say this is really great. Like the other four in the series, it's quite a page turner, keeping the reader interested as Ms. Rowling propels the plot along. However, there is some slowness towards the front of the book that is to be expected. The book ends nicely starting from about page 600 or so, straight on to the end at page 870. Certainly the most fun I have with a book since the last Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I am a mother of 2 (12 & 15) and all 3 of us have been waiting for this book. I got to read it first! It is a wonderful book. It took me 17 hours of almost non-stop reading to finish it the first time. I am currently re-reading it a slower pace to get more details. They kids will have a chance at it later this month. Harry has a tough summer break and an almost as tough school year. Rowling gets into the teen attitudes of Harry thinking that no one understands what he is going through and the adults thinking that he cannot handle what is happening around him. Again, the adults try to protect him and he goes around them to try to save someone. He gets into more trouble this year, finds out more about his parents, there are more creatures to endure, the O.W.L.S, and a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Almost everyone survives the battle at the end. It was really unexpected to find out who dies. The next summer looks good though. I can't wait for Year 6.
Rating: Summary: Not finished quite yet, but a little surprised. Review: What I've noticed the most is how much the language of the book has changed. There are more "curse" words than the other Harry Potter books (I think Book 4 was the only one). At one point, Rowling uses the word "effing". This doesn't really bother me, I am just surprised...especially considering that her primary audience are young readers. Still, it is as creative and thrilling as the previous books. (I'll update when I finish!)
Rating: Summary: Worth the wait and wanting more! Review: I read this long-awaited book on Thursday the 19th and was not disappointed. It was darker in tone than the previous four, which was to be expected. I love how Harry is a true teenager; his feelings are finally catching up to him. I expect Book 6 will be even darker, as Harry will have to deal with the repercussions of events in Order of the Phoenix. Good work, Jo...
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I'm exhausted after two days of reading (and not sleeping), but it The Order of the Phoenix is well worth it! The story works on so many levels. It is difficult to write about what I loved in this book without giving away the plot, but Harry Potter fans will not be disappointed. When does Book 6 come out?
