Summary: More of a nimbus 2000 than a firebolt.
Review: First of let me just state that this is a really good book, that I really enjoyed reading, but it is (in my opinion) the weakest Harry Potter book.
It is a really long book (over 750 pages) and perhaps that is where it's problem lies the story seems to drag on (no pun intended) for ages before getting to the interesting parts. The majority of the story concerns the mysterious order of the phoenix and what they do. As with the other Harry Potter books there are a number of strange happenings that are explained at the end of the book. However since this book is so long you spend most of the time reading it in a state of bewliderment, trying to figure out what is going on before you finally find out what is going on. The main selling point for this book is that it was rumoured that a number of mysteries in the Potter Universe, such as what's special about Harry's eyes, why were his patents killed etc, would be revealed. However when you finally reach the chapter where Dumbledore states "It is time I told you everything" you are a good 700 pages through the book and the revelations are frankly disappointing. Instead of thinking wow! you simply think oh, is that it!
Also if I'm being brutally honest the "shocking death" that was "really hard to write" is not very good either. The death in the fourth book had me in tears, the death at the end of order of the phoenix had me wondering what was for dinner.
Although there are a lot of things I don't like about this book there are also a heck of a lot that I do like.
Firstly, it is a Harry Potter book and as such even when it is not at it's best it is still better than a lot of novels out there. Also although the big revelations are not up to much there are lots of little ones that are fairly interesting. We find out why the Dursleys did not put Harry up for adoption and we get a deeper insight into why Snape hates Harry. Finally this book introduces a lot of new things and characters that will probably be important in the following two books and so is worth reading just so you can guess what happens to the students of Hogwarts next.
This book is definitly worth buying and you will really enjoy it if you don't go expecting too much from it. JK Rowling has created a great literary universe and I for one am glad for another delve into it.

Summary: Well worth the wait!
Review: Once again, J.K. Rowling has drawn me into the world of Hogwarts and once again, I haven't wanted to leave when the visit was over. After a first reading, this book has made me want to pick it up and start again from page one. I highly recommend it to any fan of Harry or his friends. It is intricate and enthralling and leaves you (as always) wanting more at the end. Buy it, read it,savor it, then lend it to a friend to enjoy.

Summary: Questions answered, questions posed.
Review: I did indeed enjoy this book, the fifth in the Harry Potter series. I was pleased to see a bit more character development in Harry, as mounting school and peer pressures make him both more worrisome and a bit snappish at times. He does seem a bit more introverted and questioning than in the earlier books in the series, an attitude assisted by an increasingly distant relationship with Dumbledore, clashes with Sirius, and much doubt over how to handle his blossoming relationship with Cho. This book spend less time on the Quiddich field and more time in Harry's head, making it slightly less of a fairy-tale romp into potions and spells, and more of a chronicle of a boy making his transition into adulthood.

I was also happy to see that this book finally shed some light into exactly why Harry was targeted by Voldemort as an infant--that's been held out as a teaser for a while, and I was starting to wonder if we were going to have to wait for the last book in the series to find out. Of course, J.K. Rowling poses as many questions as she answers in this book, and we must all now wait for several months before we get more insight into exactly how much knowledge Aunt Petunia has of the magical world, and whether or not Harry's unthinkingly reflexive use of an "unforgivable" crucio curse gives us a hint into how the plot of book six might unfold.

Summary: JK does it again...
Review: A few years have passed since the release of the fourth Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), allowing the expectations of the following installment in the series to become higher and the fans to grow ever more anxious BUT - it's finally here! And fortunately, readers young and old will not be disappointed. During Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, many events cause the wizarding world and the 'regular' world to intertwine, some relationships grow stronger as some grow apart, many old friends return along side the appearance of new ones and Harry's world is turned upside down. This book develops the characters in a way we have not seen before but also leaves room for action and suspense. JK Rowling has once again created an amazing book and I would recommend it to all, no matter their age.

Summary: What we've been waiting for!
Review: For those wondering if this book is worth the wait and lives up to the hype: trust me, it's all you hoped it would be. Though this book has a much darker tone and Harry has grown into a typical moody teenage boy who seems to get angry at the drop of a hat, it's still the captivating page turner we've been waiting for these past few years. I was glad the book was released on a weekend so I could devote the entire day to reading!

This book has lots of familiar faces: Lupin, Mad-Eye Moody, Sirius, Dobby the House Elf, Gilderoy Lockhart. And also some new ones like Dolores Umbridge, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. You love to hate this woman. She's a complete nightmare who meddles in nearly all facets of Hogwarts life. We find out new things about Snape's background. We learn that Harry's father might not have been as wonderful as Harry had always believed. And we find out why Voldemort went after the Potters in the first place. We even get to see Neville Longbottom's parents in St. Mungo's Hospital. *And* we get to see Ron as the Gryffindor Quidditch Team's new Keeper (Weasley is our King!). Harry's life becomes more complicated than ever in this book, and he endures more tragedy and loss. But don't think that it's all doom-and-gloom. There's still plenty of fun and silliness. Fred and George have their usual mischief making and really provide great comic relief. It's simply an outstanding story!

You'll find it hard to put the book down, even though you almost regret reaching the end. You'll wish it could just keep going on forever. Here's hoping JK Rowling doesn't keep us waiting as long for Book 6!

Summary: By Far the best book
Review: J.K. Rowling has done it again with another splendid novel in the Harry Potter Saga. I wa glad to see that there were more intense situations and emotions in this book. Some characters have really had a turn-around. I don't see how you can pass up the chance of reading one of her wonderful novels, starting from the beginning, of course.
Of course, I was a little confused on the page numbering on difeerent sites. THIS site says there are 896 pages. I know that the UK has 768 pages to THEIR book, of course, it's a different version... I suppose. The American version that everyone I know has 870 pages... Oh well.

Summary: enjoyable - but not her best effort
Review: Wow! Picked up Order of the Phoenix @ 1 PM on Saturday and six hours later I was exhausted but finished! And of course, Harry meets You-Know-Who for another climatic battle.

While this is not her best work ('Goblet of Fire' being my favourite to date), it far surpasses much of what's out there. It's an enjoyable read, although it felt to me that it was simply a transistional book leading up to events that are to come in Book 6 and 7.

There are some great surprises and welcome appearances from characters you've come to know in the past - some humourous and some that make you wonder. Hagrid returns along with another "he's not dangerous" creature!

Enjoy it, savour it. And then, you'll be like me, chomping at the bit for book six!!

Summary: This a really good book!!!!!!
Review: Even though I am still on the beginning of this book I will give it a good rating. My advice: read it slow to soak up suspense.

Summary: The Best One Yet!
Review: This book is the best Harry Potter yet. I loved it. I was happy when the characters were happy, and sad when they were sad. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of getting it. The plot is very good in this book and J.K. Rowling is a wonderful author. It clearly shows in this installment of Harry Potter...

Summary: The Best Book in the Entire World!
Review: I just finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and it is by far the best book I have ever read. It's starts out interesting and the suspense just keeps building. I won't say what happens because that would be too cruel to other readers but I will tell you that if you have not yet read this book you should read it now!
