Summary: Rowling still has it!
Review: Spoiler free!!

I was initially put off by the much darker tone of the fifth in the series, but as I continued to read, I found myself just as enthralled as by the earlier books. Rowling still manages to make her world both magical and matter-of-fact, and Harry and company are believable teenagers. It may not hold the interest of younger kids, but it is a superb young-adult novel that grown-ups will enjoy, too.

Summary: Rowling doesn't disappoint
Review: Sometimes when I read a series of books, as I go along, I find my attraction to the books weakening. Even when I want to learn more about the characters, something happens to make each book less enjoyable than the one before.

I have observed this phenomenon with movies as well, as sequels often don't measure up to the original.

So I opened the fifth Harry Potter book with some misgivings. Would it live up to the hype? Up to its predecessors? Will Harry's fans continue to be rewarded for their loyalty?

Not to worry. This is the best of the Potters so far, as Rowling handles the advent into adolescence of Harry and his friends with wit and skill. The pleasure in this series is largely in entering the world of Harry, Hogwarts, and the other magical domains Rowling so skillfully describes.

The much hyped "death" is, honestly, a little anticlimactic, and I will say no more for fear of spoiling it. But after reading #5 my main commment is, How long must we wait for #6?

Summary: dark, but entertaining
Review: Like everyone else, I've awaited the release of this book eagerly, and I confess I enjoyed it immensely. Her writing style is smooth and engaging as usual, and the newly introduced characters are funny. She expertly transitions Harry and his friends into young adulthood, depicting their confusion, love, and anger flawlessly. Although it was not one of her best books, it was still a very good read.

Summary: Well. . .
Review: While it was nice to have read some material that was cannon again, I found that I had a difficult time mowing through the sheer amount of paper the author had used. Ms. Rowling tried very hard to capture some of the cuteness that drew readers to the first novel, but it felt forced.

This book suffered from a case of chronic repeat-itis. It was remarkably redundant, which made me seriously contemplate closing the cover and not coming back.

The character development however was wonderful! It was so good to see Harry and his friends be more than the super-kids they were in the first four volumes. By broadening out the ensemble as human beings with some true depth, the author has outdone herself.

Another thing I was startled by was the number of typographical errors in this book. I don't know if they only pertain to the American edition or not.

Overall, my advice is that you read Pheonix only if you feel that you cannot live another day without figuring out what has happened to Harry and his crew. Otherwise go outside and enjoy the summer.

Summary: As always GREAT!
Review: I love these books. They bring you in to a world that you are sad to leave in the end! JK Rowlings inagination is incredable and I already can't wait for the next one to come out. I was at the post office on the 21st praying my book would be there and I didn't put it down till I was finished.
I have to say that as much as I loved it my favorite is still number 4, but number 5 was my second favorite.
The greatest part of this book is it answered a lot of great questions that I have been asking myself since reading book 1. As we all knew it would be this was a great read. I hope to see 6 out as soon as possible!

Summary: Simply Superb!!
Review: Get set for the darkest adventure yet in the harry potter series. Its truly a masterpiece. This is definitely his toughest year as he comes to know about the prophecy which leaves him with just one choice. There is not too much fun (as in kid stuff) as he's growing up, confused and angry. Book 5 depicts this uncertain adolescence very well. There is also the frustration about his role in the war between the dark side and the good side. Its also pretty difficult for harry as he looses someone that close. So its a year of realization and understanding of his destiny (future) and his past.

The new DDA teacher with her 'hem hem' is quite the character (really annoying). Fudge is out to discredit everyone. Fred and George make up their mind. Cho's got a part to play. Hagrid gets beaten up. Ron and quidditch. Neville shows his mettle. Hermione tries to teach harry about matters of the heart...lots of stuff - just can't put it down!!

Summary: An excellent follow-up - now get me book 6!!!
Review: We've been clammoring for this book for years, and it was worth the wait.

Harry has changed a lot over the summer, after the tragedies he survived at the end of his fourth year at Hogwarts - he's more assertive, far less passive, and has a bit more of a bitter sense of humor. Once we get reaccustomed to his maturing, the novel takes off... more characters, more adventure, more mystery, and one of the most thrilling "battle" scenes I've read in I don't know how long.

The lessons in Harry Potter are fantastic ones for anyone to learn - racism/segregation/prejudice is bad, sometimes you have to work with people you don't like for the greater good, and inside us all there's a power we are unaware of, just waiting for us to find it.

What will we do after book seven?

Summary: Awesome book
Review: This is a great book. It is kinda long but it is worth it. You start to see why Dumbledore is the only wizard Voldemort ever feared. You also get to see how corrupt the Ministry of Magic is. It is a great addition to the Harry Potter series and will leave you eagerly waiting for the next book.

Summary: Has Harry Peaked?
Review: I'm an adult fan of the Harry Potter books and I bought the 5th book on it's publish date (although I didn't stay up all night or wait in a line) and read it the following day. While it was an enjoyable day escape, it didn't grip me the way the first 4 books did. I kept waiting to laugh out loud, cry or tremble like I had before. While I did occasionally chuckle and I felt some sadness now and then, this segment of the tale seemed to lack much of the action and suspense of the other books. I wanted to see and understand a wider range of Harry's emotions - throughout this tale he just seemed angry. Still, Rowling is a crisp writer and the tale moves smoothly along. There are some delightful and creative new characters. I highly recommend the series and this book will surely play an important role in understanding the final two books.

Summary: They just keep gettin better
Review: This book is, without a doubt, the best Harry Potter book yet. Everyone complained about it's length, but its worth it. Without every thing in this book it would otherwise leave the reader confused and puzzled, nothing could or should be cut from this book, besides, while it may be time consuming, you just fly through it, the pages seem to turn themselves, but this book, it is wonderful. What makes it even better is that Harry acts just like any other fifteen year old would, the way Rowling develops her charecters to be so realistic is amazing. Once again in this book Harry is faced with many dillemas dealing with people he doesn't like, tasks he must do, and flat out everything he does creates a conflict. The interesting thing is seeing how he responds diffrently to each one as the books progress and he gets older, his and his friends attitudes change with every book, and become even more believable as the story goes along. You will love this book like a fat kid loves cake.
