Summary: Keep 'em coming J.K.!!!!
Review: This is my favorite book out of the series...Before the Harry Potter series, I was NEVER into fantasy novels of any sort. By chance, on a rainy camping trip, I picked up my little brother's copy of The Goblet of Fire and started reading. I was so into my reading that before I knew it 450 pages and 5 hours had flown by! The Order of the Phoenix IS long, but if you're a true Harry Potter fan like I am, you breeze right through. It took a couple of days to get through this one, but it was well worth it. I can NOT wait for the 6th book to come out. For those who are complaining about Harry's change in attitude, you must not have to deal with adolescent boys on a daily basis. Even the kindest of boys go through their P.M.S-like days. Although they may not be as dramatic or as expressionate as girls of the same age, they face most of the same problems and share many of the same feelings. YOU GO JK Rowling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And hurray up with the next book!!!

Summary: Harry Potter Gets PMS
Review: How can a boy change so much over the summer. This book begins the summer after the fourth book leaves off. Within that time Harry Potter goes from being a well mannered and yet mischievous young man to being a spoiled, self centered, and often hard to like, child. Finally, literature has come out with a male character who experiences PMS just like girls do. There are some good parts like bringing back Lupin for one, and seeing some of Snapes childhood, it is interesting. I hope the next one is better because had this been the first book in the series I don't think the publisher would have bought it. The book is a must read if you follow the series and want to understand some key points but the book is disappointing. Nobody is perfect including the author of this book.

Summary: Worst of the bunch.
Review: I can't begin to describe my disapointment in this book. The pros are it has its funny parts(like the part where Ron mistakes an ugly warty beast for his examiner), and parts of it are gripping, but that's part(no pun intended)of the problem, it's just small sections of brilliance. Most of it was filler, which the book could've done without. Harry gets a new Defense Against The Dark Arts techer, who is so cruel and tortureing to Harry I wanted to throw this book in anger. Another complaint: Harry grows up, but he spends most of the time in pain, depressed, and acting like a rich two-year-old. I want to read about the loyal, mild-mannered Harry Potter, not the Harry Potter who throws a temper tantrum every other minute and gets into a shouting match with anyone who crosses his path. Speaking of growing up, another complaint is Harry's crush on Cho Chang. Talk about distracting and useless filler! It was just so annoying to read every other page in a chapter that had Cho in it and reading "Harry's stomach did another summersault." (Am I the only teenager in this country who couldn't care less about who likes whom?) Hagrid only makes chameo appearences. In one chapter, he tells about his trip, it should be a gripping chapter, but instead turns out to be breathtakingly boring! In the end, he brings in his brother Grawp, who I can never see making an impact later in the series. Dumbledore acts as if Harry is invisible throughout the whole book, another cruelty factor. The Weasley Twins(Perhaps my favorite characters besides Harry's gang) are gone, but that was inevitable as it was their last year. A character is killed at the end, for no reason except to create more hype to sell more books, and cause more grief and anquish for Harry.(I'm not sure who's being more cruel to Harry in this book, the new DADA teacher, or Ms. Rowling.) And the ending is very poorly constructed, and I have no idea where which battle is being fought where. Another thing: The title didn't match the plot(Whoa, there actually was a plot?) I think beter titles might have been:"Harry Potter and the Department of Mysteries", or "Harry Potter and the Lost Prophecy" Did I mention this book was too long? About the best thing about this book is the amazing cover art. I'm excited about the next book, however, and optimistic for better results.

P.S. This review is not for everyone, If you're a diehard fan who devours every word, don't let me stop you. But if you're just a casual fan who just enjoys them, be careful.

Summary: Wow!!
Review: I waited and waited for this book to come out, having been a keen Potter fan for a relatively long time, and I am glad to say that it, for me, was almost perfect. The only real problem I found was with the death at the end. I found it to be just too much, given everything Harry has had to deal with in his short life. Also, it made me cry an awful lot! I found Cho to be extremely irritating but I warmed to Hermione more than I ever thought I would or could. I too wanted to hit Dumbledore and smash up his office at the end, but I think that is only because I was rather upset for Harry! In all, it is really a brilliant book (though book 3 is still my favourite), and I cannot wait for 6 and 7.

Summary: Deliciously annoyingly irritatingly Rowlings!
Review: The sheer wait factor alone made me crazy and after two days I was done and terribly disatified. First words out of my mouth (after the super surprise death) was "Dang, three or more years til the next book?? I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!"
Rowlings is my heroine. Potter annoyed me just enough with that growing ego only to have it slapped down at the end and old Harry seem to return. Twists and turns, surprise and "I thought so!" will be the order of the day. I recommend this book only if you can grab a few hours out of the day to read otherwise get the audio version and have Jim Dale entertain you.
Did not like:
The individual killed
Potter's teenageism rearing its ugly head many times (got really annoying)
Discovering that perhaps James wasn't the golden boy we thought.

All in all, I love the book and deny myself the pleasure to read it again...so I can start the whole series over.

Summary: Isn't this the dramatical pivot?
Review: My opinon of this book is twisted. How did I managed to give this book five stars when it is the series' installment I most complained about? There are aspects so brilliant they make up for any flaw I might find--the second reading allowed me to see the reason behind these so-called flaws. The book is startling as an almost 180 degree flip from the cute, wonderlandish feel of the prior books, something I originally found disturbing.

And yet the disturbing quality is good. It's necessary as J. K. Rowling explores the world outside a child's fantasy. Some may complain, but Harry is growing up--I found his whiney attitude considerably mild in comparison with the many angst-ridden teens I've seen. Considering all that Harry has been through, I'd be more disturbed had he acted naturally. And let's remember that many teenagers do read these books--they need someone to connect with.

And connect teenagers should. The dark world that is this book is the twisted mutations of many things familiar to a teenager. The ultimate sinister teacher is embodied in Umbridge who, if examined, is morbidly evil in an even soulless way. Even tests are hyperbolized fantastically. Wild, enchanting, and over-the-top: I like it.

I feel J. K. has even improved in her writing. Tight, quick, description paints an incredible world beyond the now-familiar Hogwarts. It's a pivot: the once-strange school has become safe to readers, so Rowling takes them beyond it into the wide wizarding world.

This is an excellent fantasy, dark and rich and wonderful.

Summary: Not what it should be.
Review: The fact of the matter is that JK Rowling can write whatever she wants and the muddled masses are all going to buy it and love. But quite simply this book is not half as good as the other four. Now I have heard some people (mostly English majors) that this is the best of the series just for the character development. Well maybe but there is more to writing then denouement and enveloping structure (not that this book has either. this book just isn't as fun as the others. It doesn't read like a kid's book. Yes many adultgs read it but I think that is mostly because we like feally like kids again which is what the first four books did. Plus lets not make the mistake of thinking that adults are really much more intellectual than children. THis book wasn't bad it was just a little slow. Of course I am one of the masses so I will read the next one but I just hope it will be better than this one.

Summary: 5th One Still As Wonderful As The 1st
Review: I'm so glad and relieved that Ms. Rowling didn't dissapoint me with her 5th Harry Potter book. I -and many others I'm sure- am noticing the gradually increasing volume of the books, but I'm not complaining! I read the whole thing in one day (I was up for a long time at night). Maybe you don't think I read it as thoroughly as I should have. But I gobbled it up. I'm just naturally a fast reader! I absolutely loved the Weasley Twins and their er.. "actions and their OTHER action." ^_^ Sorry, I didn't want to spoil anything. Anyways, I'm relieved that this book hasn't followed the road many, many other sequels have taken. Now I know these books won't end with a crash. They'll continue with all of the excitement and danger that so many people cherish. These are books I want to keep for my children who in turn will want to keep for theirs.

Harry continues underestimating himself while others nurture admiration for the hero. We see Professor Dumbledore in action and more secrets -as usual- are revealed. I have to admit that Cho took me by surprise. This book will, again, teach you a moral-first impressions aren't everything. The Weasley twins continue being themselves and you ADORE them!!! Hermoine is smart as always except this time, she actually goes against a Professor! *gasp* But, she has VERY good reasons because this particular professor needs a good kick in the shins. *^^*

Please buy and you WILL enjoy!

Summary: Harry Potter 4 ever!
Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK! I read this book once- and couldn't stop reading! I love reading- but expessially Harry Potter which I have read the 5th book 27 times! This is an outstanding book and even better if you have read all the other books in this series. JK Rowling does a great job using description to be unique. Even to kids my age or younger this book rox- but all my friends and even parents love it too. You don't have to be a kid to experience the magic. Even if you didn't like 1-4 this is deffinetly one of the best out of the batch. It takes a whiile to read but is so worth it! So discover- the magic of Harry Potter!
