Rating: Summary: Tale of two misfits... Review: Potter got away with everything, won everything and received adulation from everyone --- but the Phoenix changed that.Of course, suspending belief is essential to understanding the story. Adults have no sense and only the Potter gangsters can bring salvation. Perhaps Professor McMonagall should be taking lessons from Potter... Cast: Voldemort - "I alone shall bask in glory and power." Dumbledore - "Tom, get a grip." Potter - "I don't care!" In a world of Fudged reality, Weasley chaos and Looney beliefs, Potter finally becomes possessed and Dumbledore does a Lord of the Rings dance with Tom at the end. Snooping is the key to heroism, according to Potter Inc., and as the tale of two misfits continues, either Harry or Tom will crack, for neither can live while the other hexes.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter the fith book Review: J.K. Rowling is a very good writer, in my opinion. Has any one noticed that her stories keep getting darker and longer. not that its a bad thing but Harry is hardly ever happy in the stories anymore. I know that his life has had a lot of trageties in it but come on man you have to get over it and move on with your life. i have found that the books are okay its just that the fith one is actualy kind of boring but you can decide for you self.
Rating: Summary: Really good! Review: These books are amazing! Most series end up being tedious and predictable, but not this one. It does start out a little slow, but I promise, once you get into it, you won't be able to put it down!
Rating: Summary: Masterfully done! Review: J.K. is a wonderful writer. These stories are going to be read and treasured 100 years from now - like we read Dickens today. Boy, after reading this book, the characters are that much more real to me - I feel like I know the main characters. I really felt Harry's pain throughout this book, and at the end of the story. He is no longer a child. He had to learn a lesson the hard way - not altogether his own fault. In the next two books, Harry will be a young man. Hope his sixth year is easier than his fifth year. When's the next train back to Hogworts?
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix Audio Cassettes Review: I have a long commute to work, and originally bought this for the kids to listen to. My husband and I are now so into Harry Potter!!! The narrator on the tapes does an excellent job. I would definitely reccommend this to everyone. Can't wait for the next book.
Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read Review: This really is the best book I have ever read. J.K.R.'s way of writing is incredible. Her choice of words are like, I can't even explain it. But this series is not a children's series anymore. There are a few swear words and it would be confusing for a person under 10 to read it. I am 13 and I have read it twice. It is my favorite book, and it always will be until book 6 comes out :) J.K. Rowling is an excellent writer. I would recommend this book to anyone. Her whole series is a big mystery, and almost every sentence has a clue as to what will happen in furure books, as I just found out because I got the Ultimate Unofficial Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter, by by Galadriel Waters and Astre Mithrandir. I didn't have a clue that you had to read each sentence so carefully, I thought it was just a book, you know? J.K. Rowling's series is truely amazing.
Rating: Summary: An Adult Reader's View Review: As an adult (54) reader, I think that this may be the best of the Harry Potter books, possibly exepting the fantastic first book. This one is far more character-driven than the either the Prisoner of Azkaban or the Goblet of Fire, focusing as it does on Harry's passage through a notoriously difficult age, and with issues that are tough for even us muggles to manage -- girls and the importance of "what everyone thinks about me". It is not too long (I read the entire thing in just over two days, fitting it into every free waking moment), and the story is actually a good mix of magic and maturation. I am looking forward to the next two books, and to whatever J.K. may choose to write next.
Rating: Summary: Just plain ingenius Review: When i look at the other reviews it make me full with anger about what people say brings down this magnifacent book. the length, i believe, is a plus, those who truely love harry potter never want it to end. None of it was filler, everythign either had an entertainment purpose or a plot perpose. Most of us who are into teen fiction enjoyed the adolecent romance between cho and harry. The fury u see in him is plainly mood swings and YES SOMEONE CAN CHANGE THAT MUCH IN ONE SUMMER, not only had harry experianced a murder IN FORNT of his eyes(which is enough to change anybody)it had a lot to do with the hormones. All teenagers, be them girls or guys who began or are in mid teen years experiance some sort of "the world hates me and i hate the world' syndrom J. K. Rowling was just trying to protray that. I think was ingenuis the way she introduces death in both the 4th and this book. Yes, they are children books, but death is something a lot of children have to deal with and now they have a book where they can relate. His mood swings and anger is to those who kept him in the dark after he had been to so much the previous year and he had EVERY RIGHT to behave the way he did and it had nothing to do with acting like spoil child! i believe that Ms. Rowling shows great skills in writing this new charactor personality change and gloomy tone. Its just plain ingenius
Rating: Summary: About Harry's Attitude Review: Like many readers and HP fans, I think that Harry's moody, self-centered attitude in this book was a down rather than an up. But after reading so many other reviews, I got sick of hearing so much "bad" feedback about it. Just think, many HP readers read the first book in Elementary School or Middle School because it started off as just a soft childrens fantasy book. so now that the 5th book has come out, they are most likely in High school, around the same age as Harry. Rowling probably just did this to help the majority of readers relate to harry and his feelings. But I honestly beg to differ, because I live in an Italian family where we see all family members all the time, and plus I have a teenaged brother, and no teenagers in my family act quite like harry. But really, he's been through a lot, and with all the fame and such, most teenaged boys wouldnt act much differently.
Rating: Summary: Nice but not the best Review: This was NOT the best Harry Potter book. After reading it twice, I discovered a lot of problems. First of all, whats up with the dying character?? I won't give it away for those who havent read yet, but it is really stupid and I hope you find out more about it in later books because to me it seemed like something just to get people to buy the book. I know big Potter fans will be dissapointed with Harry's "typical" teenager mood. I have a tight-knit Italian family with tons of moody teenagers, but none as tormented as Harry is in this book. It is like a whole new character is produced. Plus, JK Rowling seems like she just wants to make it worse for him than it already is!! Killing one of the characters that is pretty close to Harry was bad, but on top of that the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher soooo cruel and evil that I wanted to stop reading the book just because I knew it would only get worse... worse as in DUMBLEDORE. yes, dumbledore. Dumbledore turns pretty bad in this book because of the fact he acts as if Harry doesnt exist, instead of trying to help harry out in all of his problems. The story was kind of flimsy, but the ending was exciting. Plus, my 11 year old cousin refused to read it just because it was TOO LONG!!! Just read every other sentence because part of the reason is Rowling just threw in a bunch of Fluff that has no importance what so ever.
