Rating: Summary: My Favorite Review: All of the Harry Potter books were a hit for me. I love them, can't get enough of Harry. I read the books over and over again. When I first heard about Harry Potter, I thought "Who cares it's probably not even good!" Just to give you some background info I am a fast reader and a kid that always loves to read. By 1st grade I was reading chapter books, while everyone else was still reading picture books. Anyway, one day I wanted to just see what the first book was like, after a while I could not put it down! If you are just starting to read Harry Potter, you should of course start at number one. This book is about when Harry is 15 and is stuck at the Dursleys once again. But he encounters problems one day that lead to him getting a note from the Ministry. Then the "Squad" come in and bring him to 13 Grimmuald Place. He then meets his two best friends and find out what's been happening. The only parts that I felt sad were when Harry yells at some people. (not naming)He then has to go to the ministry for a trial, he's been having weird dreams and there is a ministry woman who wants to ruin his life! There are some funny parts, sad parts, and nerve tensing parts in this book. Someone dies in this book. Someone very close to him. (Not his friends, an adult) Overall it was a very good book. If you want to know about anything I was talking about, you will just have to read the book for yourself. All 737 pages. (don't mark me on the pages. There not exact.)
Rating: Summary: Not worth the long wait! Review: This book was far too slow, without much semblance of a plot. It lacked the pace and ingenuity of the third and fourth books, and was much too long. Obviously a must for Harry Potter fans, but far from the best of the series.
Rating: Summary: Highly disappointed Review: I loved all the other Harry Potter books, but I could barely stand to read this one.It was too long for one thing...it took literally 200 pages JUST to get them to Hogwarts. 200 pages is longer than some full books. I was highly disappointed, and do NOT recomend this book. Maybe the hard-core Harry Potter fans will like it, but to anybody who isn't completely obsessed, you should pass.
Rating: Summary: Okay, but not really worth it. Review: I must say, the Harry Potter series was great. And, of course, I'm talking about the first four. The first one was a wonderful beginning to the series, the second, an even better continuation. The third one shows a possible future for Harry and the forth strengthened that possible future and through more emotions at you than a theatrical drama. And the fifth? Tore down that possible future and gave a negative reaction throughout the entire story. First off, they destroyed the Hogwarts we learned to love. By sticking in the Ministry of Magic in Hogwarts, it annailated the whole school system into some variation of a torture camp. Hagrid had little to no part in the whole book, and Harry is in a bad streak. The entire year. Also, the story is shrouded with a fog of mystery that will drive readers nuts as everybody declines to explain the situation to Harry at the beginning of the book. That and other complaints I have drags down my rating of the book. But there's just one thing that infuriated me. Sirius died. The same guy who strived for what was really right in the third, and promised a wonderful new home for Harry in the forth is killed by falling behind a curtain. In the very least, he should have a very dramatic death. Also, Harry's relationship with Chow was just plain annoying. They're hardly acquantinces and they're going on dates. To add to the list, the Weasley twins are gone. They added the spark of pure enjoyment to the series, and without them, homework times while become a bore. All-in-all, the only interesting thing in the book is the fact that Umbridge is the only Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who doesn't congradulate Harry at every turn or acts nice to him. If you're into Harry Potter or just reading the series, I recommend this book only to complete a collection or as information for the hopefully better sixth book. Hopefully.
Rating: Summary: A truly amazing book! Review: Wow, this book is just totally mind blowing. It is wonderfully written again by Rowling. It feels like you are in the book with Harry. Stuff keeps happening to make you guess who is going to die in this book. I hated Umbridge, of course. This book is a very dark, yet exciting book. I still like the 4th book just a little bit better, but this is my second favorite. I can't wait for the 6 book! Buy this book if you liked the Harry Potter books and haven't already bought it!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: I expected a major change in this book because of the rebirth of Lord Voldemort.. it was sure different in style from the others .. the question-answer form where almost half of the book raises a lot of questions that build up to a climax where everything is finally answered and revealed to us and mostly to Harry who although during the last 4 years went through a lot of troubles and horrible encounters but still he is a boy who lived and definitely too young for sound judgement and decisions! Well, I don't know if it was Dumbledore's mistake but I am so happy to finally know the importance of the scar and why Voldemort wanted to get rid of Harry .. I didn't expect the death of any character.. I knew someone will die .. and while I was reading kept convincing myself that it is not that character .. I was in suspense for a while but certainly didn't expect it to be such a tragic event not only for Harry but for us as fans! Major changes evolve in this book that influence the events of the story .. I think Rowling proved her creativity by risking those familiar things like the Quidditch game that in my opinion made the book really outstanding! Life is full of surprises .. you can never have a plan and expect it to materialize step by step .. but friendship, trust and honesty are definite bases for success!
Rating: Summary: A good book for anyone. Review: J.K. Rowling really hit the high water mark on this book. My personal favorite in the series, this book will captivate anyone with a broad imagination. In his fifth year back, Harry experiences problems from potential expulsion to girls (which is a tad bit comical when Hermoine tries to explain girls to Harry. Makes them seem so confusing). The plot is very rich and thick, as well as the details that J. K. Rowling uses... very vivid. This book is very dark compared to the first three, and probably the darkest on yet. It's a must read for anybody who is a fan of fantasy, wizardry, etc. Just, make sure you have plenty of time on your hands, because it is long.
Rating: Summary: Untitled Review: This is the best book from the Harry Potter series but I don't think they'll make a movie out of this one unless they edit the story. The book is over 800 pages long. Imagine how long it would take to film this. Even worse, imagine how many dvd discs it would take to record on. I heard a report on the news that this book can cause children headaches (only if they get addicted to the story and try to read it all in 1 setting. They also suggested the audio cassette and cd). This is a great book. I hope they find someway to make this into a movie.
Rating: Summary: Harry is growing up... Review: I think Rowling is reaching her peak in style with this last book. As Harry gets older in the story, the telling of the story gets maturer, too, of course depending on who is telling it. The person that Harry develops into is -personally- irritating, he does not have patience, he jumps to conclusions, he has identity crisis, just like a real boy at his age would do. Thus good character developments. Also the material is getting maturer as the kids get older, little bit of politics and all. I think Rowling is very successfully developing her story and style with a real time manner. Also just like the precious books in the series, the story is so engaging that the 800 pages disappears with the time (I read this book in 2 days!) People who has already read the first books I am sure will read this one, too but people who haven't started it yet, shall go for it, it is not just a children's book at all.
