Rating: Summary: J.K. Rowling Does It Again! Another Incredible Book! Review: Well, I finished reading this a week after I got it (I know, slow, been busy...), and overall was impressed. There were parts though that seemed to be missing in my mind. Here's what I thought of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (book 5) by widely recognized Author J.K. Rowling...1) Plot: This book continues the story of Harry Potter and his dramatic life. First things first, lets all think back to #4. Harry finds Voldemort fully returned and back, and realizes later that that is exactly what the Ministry does NOT want to hear! As we pick up the book, we find Harry once again in Number Four, Privet Drive. And, well, as a 15-year old Teenager (most Adults remember that time very well), Harry is just now getting the full swing of his troubles in life, and feels angry at just about everything: His Friends, Family, Voldemort, his Teachers, his Life, his Attitude... He heads back to Hogwarts, and finds that everyone has heard constantly over the summer (curtousy of the Daily Prophet) that Harry is a liar, a glory-hungry wizard making up cracked up story after another, craving attention, and Dumbledore as an old wizard losing his marbles. He is mistreated, hated at times, and again, Slytherin doesn't help matters. He goes through the year, worrying about his friends out fighting Voldemort, dealing with the difficult 5th year, and struggling with relationships. And to add to that, romance. But something is happening to Harry. Every night, he dreams the same dream... Walking down a corridor, arriving at a locked door. The door stays locked...he cant get in...and he awakes. Is it HIS dream, is it real, is it happening right now? Harry doesn't know. Yet things are changing outside Hogwarts. Voldemort is gaining power daily. Yet the Ministry continues to ignore it. And the Ministry may begin to change things in Hogwarts as well. The Wizarding World is in chaos, suspense. What is going to happen, are the rumors true? Is the Dark Lord back? The answers to all of those questions are found in the book... O yes, and here are a few other things: a) Ron Weasley is the new Gryffandor keeper! b) O.W.L's (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) are coming! c) Harry is temporarily expelled... d) Someone who we have charished through the series is killed... 2) Recap: After finishing the book, I had several thoughts. The first, that this was a great book. It had everything the last few had, some humor, suspense, mystery, the characters: Ron, Hermione, and Harry once again show how close they are. There are some new features too, such as Romance, a new teacher making life difficult for everyone, O.W.L's, and Quidditch..for ahwile... The book continued the return of Voldemort, the steps he is taking to get back into power, the reactions of the Ministry and common wizards. And people choosing their sides: will they believe and take action, or sit back and wait. Or will they join the Dark Side themselves... Chaos is near, Dementors are losing control, the Giants are coming, Death Eaters are returning to power and their old habits, and Harry is wanted by Lord Voldemort more than ever. We even find out the secret to Harry's non-stop pain. Why he has that scar, and he has always been so protected. Ever wondered what happens to Wizards when they die? All this is found in these fantastic 860 pages (or so), and though there were some problems, I definantly suggest reading it! 3) Problems/Cons: Harry is changing, and at times seemed a bit reckless. He is going through a difficult time, learning horrible things, but I would like to see more of the old Harry back later on. The Plot was a bit confusing, and yes, there are some deaths. Though #4 in my opinion was a lot more gruesome, this book truly was in it's footsteps. Overall though, very well done. (And Parents, read it first, but should be fine for you kids.) One more thing. I think certain things like normal classes and some of the finer points (Quidditch was very much missed in this one at times!), friendships, and things like that, were missed. And the year seemed to go by much faster than the last few books. No Halloween celebration, Easter basicly skipped. I think J.K. Rowling could have added a few more pages to make this seem a bit like the Hogwarts we grew up with in the last 4 books. Thought not a lot of problems, those were a few of my complaints... Overall, this was a great book, and I'd even go as far as to say it was the best so far! It was funny, it was dramatic, and we really did see a lot of change in these characters. A lot of questions were answered in this book, and new theories for us to ponder for the last 2. I am both happy to finally get #5 and sad that their are only 2 more left!!! Overall though, this was an excellent book, and recommended to kids and adults of ALL ages. Not too violent and the cursing complained about wasn't much more than the others (#3 perticulurly). Great book, reccomended, and if you need proof that it's a great book, look at the 7 million+ books sold worldwide now. Great book, definantly reccomended. Well done JK! Thx!
Rating: Summary: The most tragic and sad book yet in the series. Review: Harry feels in this book similar to how he felt in the second book.He was neglected by most friends and thought to be "mad". It also showed who Voldemort fooled with his mind and caused the the tragic and sad death of one of the most dearest and caring character. This scene brought tears to my eyes untill the very end.
Rating: Summary: Harry is a true adventure for all readers-especially adults! Review: Like Peter Pan, the Harry Potter Series has been pigenonedholed into the area of childrens literature, but like Peter Pan, Harry Potter tells a story that is relevant to adults. We see Harry gaining knowledge and losing his innocence. Parents should read this series, especially this latest addition, with their children. Teenagers should read the series to understand the frailities of adults, and adults should read the series to rememember how difficult it could be growing up. There is darkness and danger you will not find in Pooh's Corner or The Cat in The Hat. Rowling has developed a character who can be considered a true hero in the land of children, teens, young adults, and adults. The only fear I have is that children will not understand the underlying themes that are being revealed. That is one reason this is a book for the ENTIRE family to read together. Turn off the TV . . . sit down and READ!

Rating: Summary: The book I couldn't put down. Review: For once in my life I could not put a book down. I have read all of the othe Harry Potter books, however it always took me a while to read them prolly cuz I just never really got into them. However, I could not get myself to pu this one down. This book has got to be one of the best book I have ever read, however, I don't believe it is the ebst so far in the series. My vote for the best one is the 3rd book, The Prisoner of Azkaban, even tho, this book had much more action.
Rating: Summary: As usual, I loved it -- Review: I'm a dedicated fan of Harry Potter, so have read all five books. Though this latest doesn't have quite as many inventive twists and turns in the plot as the one previous to it, The Order of the Phoenix still stands up to great storytelling standards and pulled me through those many, many pages so quickly that I can't believe I finished the book by Monday night. (And by the way, a huge thanks to Amazon, who delivered the book into my waiting hands right on time last Saturday.) I can't seem to get enough of this series. So okay then, Ms. Rowling -- no more vacation for you -- get back to work because we're all ready for Book Six now!
Rating: Summary: Not so shabby J.K. Review: This like all of the books before it has left me begging for more. I loved the part at the end where dumbledore finally tells harry the secert he has been keeping from harry for the last ten years. but i do feel that it wasn't as suspenseful as the last book
Rating: Summary: Couldn't have been better Review: The hottest day of the summer so far was drawing to a close and a drowsy silence lay over the large, square houses.... This is how the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series begins, and it also describes the day on which the book was released, in my point of view. The anticipation of the fifth book had me fired up in ways I never thought possible,(for full details, ask the people who were around me) and I was passionate about the book in ways I thought didn't exist. I began the book the evening I received it, and then for 12 straight hours I read it non stop. I read throughout the night and to early next morning when I finally finished. From the very first chapter I was enthralled by it and read without discontinuation or distractions. I also skipped meals for fear of losing my concentration. Just like the four books before it Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was completely original all the way from the Order of the Phoenix to end of term O.W.L.s. .It also shows her absolute creativity. This book captures a reader's attention and is so thrilling that you cannot set it down until you are done. J.K. Rowling has written this book with great understanding of what a reader expects from the book and also with understanding of the feeling of a young mind. Every time you think that J.K. Rowling has reached that level and has reached an unbeatable high, but each time she undoes herself with a new level of creativity and originality. The fifth part in the Harry Potter series is by far the best installment yet. Here are some aspects of this book: Dumbledore's secrecy, the dreaded guardians of Azkaban prison, the Order of the Phoenix, the return of the real Mad-eye-Moody, Fudge's interferences, a Defense against the Dark Arts teacher with her own plans for Hogwarts, and an "army" of children with quite a suprising teacher....... I hope you enjoy Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and as a closing comment- HARRY POTTER RULZ!
Rating: Summary: What happened to Harry? Review: The last four of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series have been astonishing. I have been waiting, like so many other people, for the fifth H.P. and was so excited to grab a copy of her latest novel. This book was very poorly done and is, in my opinion, the worst of the series. My conclusion is based on two main reasons. First, Harry's new attitude. In the previous four, Harry has been the selfless, kind person with all of the qualities to gain the love and respect of all the people who read the books. In this new book, Harry has gone dark, selfish, and cruel. He constantly reams out those who stand up for him, makes irrational bold moves, and stands as the worlds greatest example of the stereotyped "American teenager". My suggestion to parents is that they should read the book before giving it to their kids. If J.K. Rowling could do anything in the next two books, she could have Harry quickly grow out of this phase. The last thing I protest about this book is the plot. Although there were many interesting facts and some fun scenes, as I read, I wondered if there was ever going to be a stable plot line. To my disapointment, there was not. The book was sketchy, loose, and lacked the griping story that I loved in the last four. Let us hope that that the next two will be better and that J.K. Rowlings makes a lighter, faster paced story.
Rating: Summary: It's incredible!!!!!!!! One of the best!! Review: This book is surprising, I couldn't put it down. I read practicly throught the entire night. I really recomend it. It is a little more violent, not a little kid book anymore. He is a teenager, and the book is getting a lot more serious. I can't stop thinking about it after reading it. I loved it. Can't wait for the sixth book.
