Rating: Summary: ... Review: I didn't jump on the band wagon of Harry Potter until the first 4 were released. I read them all within a month or two and waited. I didn't think it would take sooo long for this to come out. Reading through this I would become stressed about Umbridge. But I had to tell myself she would play herself out and we will find out her real plans. I think J.K Rowling is rebeling against Warner Bros. with this lengthy update to the Harry Potter world. I hope they find it difficult to make a movie from this. They are reaping the joys of this novel to make it more.. common and another sell out. Bottom line.. Nice work. not hte best but it sends us in the direction that she (Rowling) is unfolding the Potter world and showing the politics of it all.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter #5 - It keeps getting better and better! Review: I will not give anything away, but I can say that this book is by far the best in the series yet! It keeps you on the edge of your seat! The story is intricate and involving, and you learn a lot about the magic world (ej.why some become ghosts and others don't, etc.) and about Harry's past (ej.why Voldemort tried to kill him when he was a baby, etc.). It's a much "darker" book than the past 4, and there are a few new "villains" to hate, like Dolores Umbridge, although to me the scariest was Bellatrix Lestrange, she's the cruelest so far, maybe as much as Voldemort! All in all an amazing read!
Rating: Summary: The darker side of Harry Potter Review: After finishing this lengthy book, I walked away feeling a little sad and distraught. "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" was much darker and sinister then the previous four books. Harry carrys a lot of pent-up rage and anguish; dubbing himself the atypical anxiety ridden teen. But none the less, we still love Harry for his heroism and bravery which he exudes throughout the novel. Sometimes his bravery gets the better of him and puts him in sticky situations. Anyone who reads this will want to do nothing else -- just read! It all comes together at the end, ties together all of the books and introduces a few secrets we had yet to learn! It's enchanting!
Rating: Summary: Not her best Review: I have read everyone one if the HP books atleast a 100 times. In everyone of the books there is a hudge suprise. In this book it ended, and I frankly wasn't that suprised... I mean the death was shocking, and the battle between Dumbledore and "Tom" was spectacular, but I think she wanted to do more... It is all in all a great book and I can't wait till the next one!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter #5 Review: This is prehaps the best book I've ever read!! I've havent been so attached to a book since The Goblet of Fire came out! I thought that after writing four books that there isn't much left to write in the 5th 6th and 7th but I was SOOOOOO...... wrong. JK Rowling is so creative and makes this book so much fun to read for all ages. THe one thing I would advise is read it slow because the next one isnt supposed to come out for a while.
Rating: Summary: Now that I have finished it... Review: Well, now that I have finished the book, I must say that my only disappointment is that I have finished the book. The story, characterizations, descriptions, plot, and writing are all superb. I got the book at 12:25am, June 21 at my local book store in Ukiah, CA. It took me until Thursday to finish it, mainly because I HAD to work during the day. I'm 48 years old and I never thought a "children's" book would hold me so enthralled, but it did, from the moment I cracked the thing open. Harry is more, well, human, in this book, as Rowling begins to deal with his adolescence and puberty. It makes the book ring true. Life is not always just black and white, so she brings this out in Harry's struggles to be himself. We find that, in fact, he is a reluctant hero, trying to find out for himself what life means. It is masterfully told. I'm also glad that Ms. Rowling introduces characters of color in this one, not that it greatly matters, but, being black myself, I am grateful to see that Harry's world is diverse, too. Let's hope Cho comes to her senses. Anyway, I can hardly wait for the next book. Thank you, J.K. Rowling, for making this one so wonderful.
Rating: Summary: I don't know what people are complaining about. Review: Well, another Harry Potter which I have been waiting with baited breath for... and once again it does not disappoint. Though a lot darker, more psychological and less of a children's book than the past four, but that is hardly a bad thing. Harry's growing up and the story is getting more complex as we learn more and more. I feel like I have lived in their world, and know each character personally. And that is about the best praise I can give a book... something which makes you believe that every character is real...
Rating: Summary: Rowling fails to dissapoint Review: Although not the best in the series (Book 3 Wins), still one of the best books out there. As we go on in this wonderful series of 7 books, we are kept interested and wondering about Harry's future. This book is no different. I want to thank Rowling for making it so long! It was woderful, as the first day sales showed (5 MILL)...Harry Potter is here to stay-

Rating: Summary: CD Version Review Review: Jim Dale does his usual excellent rendition of the J. K. Rowling characters. I, as others who have reviewed the book was distressed by Harry's new attitude. In the past four books he was a young person shouldering the responsibilities of an adult. In this book he is asked to act like an adult but instead acts like a child. Teenagers are hard to figure out, but given his past experiences, I expected better judgement on Harry's part. I also felt the book was too long and too detailed. I purchased both the book and CD. I read the book at home and listened to the CD during my commute to work. For the very the...price tag I expected to have an index included that gave a chapter to CD cross reference. No such luck. Without the chapter listing it made it very difficult to pick up where I left off.
