Rating: Summary: Was it Worth the Wait? You Betcha!!! Review: The book was worth the long wait. It gave J.K. Rowling time to develop a more matured Harry. Also I thought this is one of the best books so far in the series. The book did seem to drag out stuff though making it longer than need be but I without it I don't think I would be as appreciative of it. Also I'm not going to ruin it for those who haven't read it yet but the person who "dies" might actually make a return in the 7th book. J.K. Rowling mentioned in a confrence that the person who died would play a significant part in the 7th book. Also of you don't want to find out exactly how the person died don't continue. To further my view the spell that hit the person was a red spell not a green one so that means they couldnt have died unless the veil that the person falls into kills people. I hope this brings a question to whether the person is really dead or not so it could spark a bit more intrest after reading the book. AWESOME BOOK!!!!! J.K. HAS DONE IT AGAIN!
Rating: Summary: Well worth the wait--and the 900 pages! Review: J.K. Rowling has done it again. In the fifth book in the series, she hasn't slowed down or lost steam. She continues to throw more new and interesting things at you. What I especially like is how she was able to capture the moodiness of a teenage boy so effectively. This book makes you laugh when things are funny, worry when things are tense, and you feel the loss of the character who dies as keenly as if he/she was a real person. Truly the best book in the series so far--I can only imagine what the sixth one will be like!
Rating: Summary: the best Review: one of the best ones i love it so much! cant wait for the sixth! omg i was sad when one of the main characters died but that was still good i hope everybody in the world buys this book its soooo good i read it in like a week (all 870 pages yep) fun reading!
Rating: Summary: A good tale but needs editing Review: I was eager to read the fifth book, but I think its overly long, and needs editing. It moves slowly, too much non moving sideplots. 125 pages in and very little is known more than Voldemort has returned.Harry is whiny and cranky, all the characters seem to be bored with life. I understand that this is considered to be a return to the style of the first book, but, in my opinion, it could be great, but it needs to be edited severely.
Rating: Summary: The Best One Yet! Review: Everybody is saying that this book is terrible, scary, but I think it's GREAT! The new character, Professor Umbridge, is so evil it's funny! Harry has matured very much and this book is so much more engrossing. The scary quality is the best part! The dementors return, there is a strange occurance during Quidditch, and the strangest scene in any of the books during detention. And don't stop in the middle! It does start out slow, but gets so much better! The only boring part is the romance.....
Rating: Summary: Heavy on the hormones Review: As a mother of a boy Harry's age, I am well aware of teenage anger and angst. I didn't really appreciate having to read about it for almost 800 pages. I love the Harry Potter series for it's adventure, intrigue, fun, and originality. I have to wonder if the book's dark nature isn't a reflection of the author's feelings toward the pressure she must now be facing. It doesn't seem like it's fun for her to write anymore. Other than that, the book had some wonderful and imaginative passages, and I look forward to the next installment.
Rating: Summary: Love the book, good fifth installment Review: For most readers this is one of those moments where it comes down to you like all of the books or you don't. While the fifth book didn't seem to electrify me as the others did it did begin to enlighten us to the secret world behind Harry Potter. The story introduces a lot of new characters and while it seems to put the basic good against evil plot in statis for awhile it does entertain. I have to say I found this plot dealt more with the children at the school and with the politics (adult style) of school administration. This isn't to say that the characters weren't their normal charming and interesting selves, but the reasons for their hijinks doesn't seem to carry the same level of wit and humor (except for Fred and George Weasley). Harry's moments of angst are mostly understood, however some of the anger seemed more labored toward the end. There are many plot twists and more than a fair share of danger in this book. I gave it four stars instead of five only because I think the book could have been tighter and less fluffy by about 150 pages. But all in all a most pleasureable read and enjoyable 5 part of the series. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Great summer read!!! Review: This was the best Potter book yet, but I said that after reading the second book, as well as the rest of them! I thought Professor Umbridge was horrible!! She made Professor Snape look like Harry's best friend! Reading should be fun, for all ages, and this was definitely a fun read. Can't wait for the next one.
Rating: Summary: Harry's Back Review: The newest installment of the Harry Potter was well worth the wait. J.K. has started an amazing franchise with HP. I can't wait for the next one. Our whole family had the book read within a week. my 11 year old is rereading it.
Rating: Summary: Meets Expectations Review: The fifth book definitely meets expectations. With basically every character from previous books present, one begins to see the links in the wizarding world. Also, the revealing of more secrets and relationships is very interesting. The best aspect is the maturity of Harry, Ron, and Hermione who have to face adult dangers and problems. I would recommend this book to parents and children alike. One can definitely tell that a great deal of the action is building up to a huge climax in the final book
