Rating: Summary: JK Rowling does not disappoint Review: JK Rowling does it once again! She is pure genius! This book is another "can't put down" book. Truly exciting, funny, sad, & intriguing. It makes you never wanting to leave Hogwarts & leaves you loving our hero even more.
Rating: Summary: N*O*T* a dissapointment! Review: I really enjoyed this book! I read it non stop but i didnt have to go to the bookstores like at 12 am to get the book. I guess the long wait(3 yrs!) kinda unhooked me from the series but i fell back again and now i loved the book. I cant wait (like everyone else) til the 6th book and the third movie to come out!I read lots of reviews and everyone says that its just too long. At some points i do agree. But, in my case the longer the merrier! *R*E*A*D *I*T*!!!!
Rating: Summary: Harry Does Some Growing Up Review: In this book, our young (or not so young anymore) wizard friend, as well as supporting characters, develope into truly transfixing characters. The plotlines are intense, the "bad" characters are evil, and Harry stops being such a martyr for once. J.K. Rowling is tying as my favorite author with J.R.R. Tolkien and Garth Nix right now. The woman is brilliant! Not to ruin it for you, but I was nearly crying at the end (you'll see why). P.S. Did you notice almost everyone in Sirius' family, including himself, are named after constellations or stars? And the star Sirius is in the constellation the Big Dog? makes sense.
Rating: Summary: Rowling's Best Thus Far! Review: Alright, when does book six come out?!! After hanging at the edge of my seat since the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire two years ago, I swore to myself, "this one I'll savor." Not quite. I finished this book in a day and a half.I am truly amazed by Jo Rowling's ability to feed you individual, non-related pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Suddenly, out of nowhere you flip the last page and you realize the whole picture has been slowly forming before your eyes without you're ever noticing. She manages to pull together hints dropped since the very first book. In the Order of the Phoenix Rowling lets us into some of her secrets a bit more emotionally than ever before. We learn more about Harry's parents, Lilly and James, we also get a bit of a better understanding of Professor Snape. It is true that Rowling kills off a major character in this book, but I believe she had her reasons for doing so. Although bitter sweet, it's an amazing read and well worth it. I have noticed, that J.K. rowling writes each book from Harry's emotional point of view. In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, young 11 year old Harry saw the world as black and white, good and evil. As he grows and we reach book five, fifteen year old Harry realizes that there are suddenly gray areas. Grab the book if you can. It's the best Jo has managed to put out since the beginning. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: It was Okay Review: I love the Harry Potter series, but was disapointed by this installment. I think it was very slow, unsuspenseful and there are far to many pointless characters and sub-plots that go nowhere. The ending was very anticlimactic and I didn't find out anything about Harry or Voldemort that wasn't in the previous 4 books. I hope that this book leads up to something great in the 6th book.
Rating: Summary: Went away from the Original Review: This fifth book is unnecessarily long, somewhere around 30,000 more words than the last book. There is a lot of filler between the different storylines. There is a completely different writing style in this book than from the others. It seems that Rowling is trying to change the audience of her series by using pretentious words throughout the book. If you are going to read the book to your child, or giving it as a gift make sure you give them a dictionary as well. I have no problems with authors using high vocabulary; just don't start using them in the fifth book. Rowling completely changes the personality of Harry in the book. Turning Harry into a whiny, annoying person made reading the book a lot less enjoyable. If she is going to change a personality based on coming of age in adolescence then she needs to show the effect on everyone. Ron and Hermione act exactly the same, as well as everyone else in his grade. The only thing that saved this book was the ending. The ending was very entertaining. I also liked how Rowling made a character in the book more prominent. The book is worth buying, but do not get overly excited about reading it.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ! Review: SO ENTERTAINING I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 6TH ONE TO COME OUT I LOVED IT SOOOO MUCH!
Rating: Summary: i rate it 6 stars.... Review: this book was so good. i've heard people say it was bad.. how could they???? it gets better and better as you go... and you find out a lot of things that are like answers to the clues in the other books. this was by far my favorite harry potter book, and it makes the first book look bad, no offense to j.k rowling... im sure the books will get better and better though. i hope she writes more after the series... everyone should read the harry potter books.
Rating: Summary: harry potter Review: i thought that this was a great and well written book but, i felt that it wasent as magical and imaginative as the rest of the books. i also found that this book was very scary!
Rating: Summary: One Of The Worst Books I've Ever Read Review: This was one of the dumbest books I've ever read and in my opinion, the worst edition in the series so far. First of all it was way too long and you could've taken about 200 pages out of the book and it would have had the same effect. The character development was off and even though she was showing them during their adolesence, they were very obnoxious. Also, it took a very, very long time to get intereresting and I found myself procrastinating and finding excuses to not read it. Overall, it was a horrible book and a waste of a week reading it.
