Summary: Um....well....WOW!
Review: This book is the best out of all 5 books. Trust me, you will be surprised at the end of the book. It took me several hours to read this book in its entirety - I once stayed up past midnight to get to the middle of the book. Let's put it this way - I'm salivating for book #6 right now.

Summary: Page-turning, as always, but THAT LAPSE AT THE END !!!
Review: This book needed some editing...and I'm not just talking length....
I'm always in awe of the way the author can hold all of this information in her head and write in such a riveting manner, but the end of this book marked the first time I did not believe in what was happening. Without giving anything away to those who haven't read it: What's with that "gift" that Harry discovers at the end? Come on! If Sirius had given Harry a present, do you think he would have forgotten about it? No! He would have opened it as soon as he was able to. And why, when Sirius appeared in the fire, did he not say, "Why aren't you using the gift I gave you?"
Of course, knowing about that gift from the start would have rendered much of the ensuing drama moot.

This was a serious lapse in editing.

She did, however, do a great job of showing how evil is so insidious and can take over so easily.

And again, I can only imagine how difficult it is to write this series. She's doing a great job.

Summary: Interesting, but overrated
Review: I, like many others, have immersed myself in the Harry Potter series. I thouroghly enjoyed the first four, and have read each over 4 times. I was highly anticipating the fifth novel.

When the book came out I finished it in less than seven hours because I could not wait to know what happened. But, to be honest, I was a bit dissapointed.

The plot itself was driven and is what kept me reading. But, the characters seemed lifeless compaired to the novel's predacessors. They lacked depth and intrigue. It was as if they were literally just going through the motions of life. The newly introduced characters were interesting, yet it seemed as if they were almost forced into the book, they appeared to be a bit out of place.

The first half of the book was, and believe me I hate to say it, incredibly boring. Nothing of very much importance happened, and it seemed as if many of the parts were useless details that were only written to "increase suspense". What could have been written and expressed amazingly in sixty pages took almost one hundred.

One thing that really irked me throughout the novel was that it offered little to no help in reminding the reader of any past events that did not occur in the final chapters of "the Goblet of Fire"(for example, Diggory's death and the return of Voldemort). Many of the people I know that read it were confused about the termanology and character relationships, since they had not read about them in almost three years. I believe that the book should have had a bit more information on what 'aurors" and "animagus" and such other things are.

Oh, and another was that, though some people were mentioned and some events were brought up, many of the story lines from past books were ignored. For example, what ever happened to Peter pettigrew? He was mentioned in the chapter titled "Snape's Worst Memory", but never in "present" time. Also, Hermione's relationship with Krum is barely touched on, as is professor Snape's reasons for leaving the death eaters.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book immensely, but I think that, dispite the publisher's pushing the author to put it into print sonner, the author should have revised it more.

Though I do not think that the first half of the book was all that good, I think that the ending of the book was expertly written and expressed. The suprise character death (which everyone knew was coming, we just didn't know who) was beautifully done in a sentimental, non-rushed way. The conclusion of the book was, if I may say, perfect, and left many spaces open for development in the next novel.

So, overall I enjoyed the novel. The only reason it did not get four or five stars is because I think that it could have been written better and had the plot expanded a bit more.

I would suggest this book to everyone because it was very entertaining, although tedious at points, and is a must read for all Harry Potter fans. And, I'll be keeping my eye out for the next book!

Summary: Disapointed
Review: I am an adult fan of Harry Potter. Loved the first four books and anticipated the release of this book. I was very very disapointed. It was like someone had written this book trying to "copy cat" Miss Rowling but just didn't get her specialties down. Very disapointed that she killed off one of the main characters also. But I am reminded that Harry Potter is HER creation and she can do with how she wants, but I feel like that I, the die hard fan, got...with this book and the story just didn't go at all the way I had hoped. The first part of the book my thoughts were, "she's turned Harry into a whining little brat." I realize he's in his teenage years but sheez give it a rest. He levels out a bit more later in the book. Again, I just feel like I...off, although I am still a Harry Potter fan and will look forward to the next book.

Summary: if you didn't like it the first time...READ IT AGAIN!!
Review: In the first four books Harry was the ideal hero: he was heroic and noble, even though he got himself into lots of trouble. We loved him. In Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix our hero, Harry, takes a more realistic turn, and I must say I like him better for it. In this book he is, and there is no other way to put it, an angry and hormonal teenager. He has angry outbursts and mood swings until, quite frankly, we get a little frustrated with him, but in a good way. Some people have been complaining that he's too much of a teenager...um...he's fifteen, what's he supposed to be? We get new insight on old characters, like Cho and Prof Snape: We don't like Cho and we feel pity for Snape. And we also get a refreshing batch of new characters, including Professor Umbridge who nearly reaches Voldemorts level of hate-ablility. There are a lot of shocks to your system, like the fact that maybe Dumbledore isn't as all-knowing as we thought he was.

In this book, I admit, Harry isn't my favorite character, but I think the Harry Potter books are coming out of the clouds and getting a more realistic touch. Thank you J.K.Rowling!!!

Summary: Is Harry Potter really all that?
Review: It's been a long time, but Harry Potter has once again invaded our literary world and, to be honest, I'm not so sure what to make of him. I bought the latest volume yesterday and, being up to page 114 or so, there seems to be a loss of that special "magic" which made all the other books so engaging and exciting.
I really had high hopes in Chapter 5, "The Order of the Phoenix" to find out exactly what the order was and it left me with questions. So far, the only interesting thing that has happened so far is Harry screaming at the top of his lungs to Hermione and Ron about a lack of knowledge concerning Voldemort. Other than that, so far, I do not see the same Harry Potter that I even saw in book 4, the highly amazing "Goblet of Fire".
What it seems to come down to is that, while Harry Potter is a great book idea and possessed much color in the early books, especially "The Prisoner of Azkaban", I do not understand why this book is so successful. At least not yet, anyways... So far, the content has been dry and boring and even the consistent beginning with a humurous adventure with the Dursleys in the first four books solidly fell flat in this one.
Perhaps it is time to give Harry Potter up...maybe. Only time will tell.

Summary: The Perfect Book
Review: This Is the best book I ever read and the best harry potter book. I got this book and started reading it on its realese day. Great book for all ages young and old. If there were only 7 books you could ever read, it should be this book and the past and forth coming books in this series.

Summary: A must for HP fans
Review: This book is a little "darker" than any of the others - more fighting between the factions. One of the other reviews complained about HP being whiny and cranky, what's the surprise? They are kids going through puberty. Don't understand the complaint about it being boring, there is something happening on almost every page. I'm just trying to figure out how long we'll have to wait for the next one and how is she going to top herself again!

Summary: eh...........
Review: I liked this book a lot when it wasn't rambling on....and on....It's very unnecessarily long. Rowling drawls on for a while without really getting anywhere plot wise, but it did pick up in spots and then I really did enjoy it. I still don't see any reason for killing of the character that she did. I had sort os suspected that was who it was going to be, but nevertheless, it didn't seem necessary. It didn't add to the plot at all, and it seemed like it was just a device for getting to reveal some things at the end. Unless there's some reason to be revealed later, it seems like it was put in just to be dramatic. Oh well. I still recommend the book though, despite the slow pace.
