Summary: Good, but drawn out
Review: I enjoyed this book. Rowling's a wonderful story teller and I am greatful for these books. However, getting to the end, I couldn't help but wish this was the final book in the series. Like Harry, I was getting tired of it all. I wanted resolution, closure. It's like a slasher movie where the villian gets killed and keeps coming back, again and again and again...

Summary: Disturbing..
Review: I read this as soon as it came out.
But it took me a while to smother up the courage to write a
review on it..
(I'm not writing about the good things- because there are
already a lot of positive reviews.)

Book 5 was another masterpiece by Rowling.
I can't deny this.
But I must say..
I found it a bit... disturbing.

Of course the plot and characters were as good as ever
but the feud with the ministry and Harry's emotional ups and
downs(especially the parts he didn't trust or consider Ron and
Hermione) were too much for me to take in.

Also the part of someone's death near the end of the book
(if you've read it, you'll know who I mean-)
was unbearable and not to mention a bit sudden.
I mean who would have expected him to turn up and die
in the few last pages in the book.
(Oh- and the mirror! Come on----!!!!)

Anyway.. I'm sure Rowling has her reasons-
Though it doesn't seem to be worth killing the last bit of comfort Harry's got in book 5.
I'm sure this incident will help Harry get through
some hard obstacles in the up coming years.

It feels as if this book is becoming more of a novel-
Not for (very)young children.
Parents. consider this before giving your young ones
this book. Or at least pre-read it.
If you think they can take it .
I'm sure they can. ^^

It really is a fabulous book.
But to me a few parts were disturbing. (to me anyway.)
And though I've read books 1~4 about 6 times each
I'm never going to read book 5 ever again.
(or maybe just for 2~3 years.)

Still can't wait for book 6.
Please don't make me cry as much in this one..
PLEASE------------------------!!!!

Summary: Okay...Where is Book 6?
Review: I didn't think I would ever read a better Potter book than Book 4, and then Book 5 arrived on my doorstep. To sum it up in one word: INTENSE! There are so many plot twists and turns, and so many surprises, it kept this 38-year-old mom on the edge of her seat! I even went back to Book 4 from time to time to remind myself of why things in 5 were the way they were. One of the most delightful aspects of The Order of the Phoenix is that Harry and his friends are growing up! They are teenagers, and respond to life's problems as such. I can't wait for my oldest daughter to read it! Everyone from grade 5 to age 100 should read this book. Now, Ms. Rowling, may we PLEASE have Book 6, hmmm?

Summary: A big, satisfying read
Review: What more can be said about J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"? The release of this, the fifth installment in the Harry Potter series, is a genuine worldwide cultural phenomenon. At 870 pages, this book is epic in size, but it's a fast, compelling read.

"Order" continues the saga of boy wizard Harry. Our hero is clearly growing up--a key theme is that he and his classmates are beginning that transition from childhood to young adulthood. And it's an especially difficult transition, occurring as it does in the midst of an epic struggle between good and evil forces.

"Order" is at times quite dark and unsettling--a key theme throughout the book is an internal power struggle within the wizard world. This struggle has a serious impact on Harry's beloved Hogwarts school. But the darkness of the story is well counterbalanced by the friendship, excitement, and magic that are so intrinsic to Harry's world.

Rowling has not lost her own magic touch. She brings back many familiar characters and introduces some interesting new ones--including a truly infuriating antagonist for Harry. There are some inventive surprises and amazing scenes along the way. And we learn more about important non-human species that inhabit this magical universe. Rowling may have had to face high expectations, but she delivers with this book. It's a big, satisfying tale that left me eager to return to Harry's world.

Summary: Not Happy Rowling
Review: First there its a three year wait and I am a fan of Harry Potter and I thought, gosh three years late, should be worth the wait. She must really have something good stewing. But boy was i ever wrong! Not only was Harry moody all the time and Hermoine still on a frenzy about the elves and Ron sort of...too much like himself but without the laughs. Plus it was a bit slow at the begining and with one of the only people that Harry really cared for dying, i was deaply depressed while reading this book and the depressing Proffesser Umbridge, well, what can i say about this book that is really good. I mean series, most people think that it is good just because it is Harry Potter. I don't think so. Even a good serious can have its bad spells and I seriously hope that J.K.Rowling will get back on a ROWLing! If i was a mother I would refuse my children to read such a depressing story. Although my review doesn't sound too good i also have to say it was still well written and I spose it had a good twist but why, why didn't Harry...well you know...read the last chapter. ;)!

Summary: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Review: Now back from Hogwarts, Harry unpatiently awaits for the beginning of a new year and any useful news of Lord Voldemort and his return in the Daily Prophet. Harry thinks his friends (Hemoine and Ron) are leaving him behind on what he thinks the fun of the summer. He finds out other wise when he is taken into an old molted house.
This year will be very different for Harry. He is 15 years old and he has mood swings easily and a high temper with anyone who provokes him, but then again all teenagers do at some point. Harry also finds some exciting yet shocking news about his dad's atitude when he was 15. Dumbledore has also been hiding some very important and mysterious news from Harry.
This book is very interesting and in my opinion the most happy and yet sad book. But I give it 5 stars because even though it is incredebly sad at the end it is also a very exciting book to read.... Like all Harry Potter books you can't put it down before you have read the entire book!!! I strongly recomend this book to people who are still not totally convinced about weather they should or shouldn't buy it!

Summary: THE BEST!
Review: This is honestly the best book that I have ever read. I'm an English major in college, getting ready to write my thesis, and I wish I could change my topic to Harry Potter!

This book exists on so many levels that you could analyze it for years. But, suffice it to say, you will not want to put it down. The ending is phenomenal - another reviewer said that the ending was lackluster. I have no idea what book he read, because I read the entire last 300 pages all the way through, unable to put it down (despite the fact that I had a final exam the next day.) There's a showdown at the ministry of magic - I won't give away more than that.

One other note: this book is never going to be any good in the movies; there's no way they can replicate on screen the emotion of which this book is full (remember in book 2 how Harry was really under suspicion at Hogwarts and was really alienated, but it hardly came out at all in the film?) Well, this book is full of interior monologue and personal emotion...you really just have to read it.

Rowling must have an obsession with vomiting, because someone vomits about every 10 pages. I suppose that was the only downside for me. Other than that, this is the best novel I have ever read. Hope this helps...

Summary: Not the best, but still Rowling
Review: I was not anticipating this fifth installment in the HP series much, but it turned out to be a pleasent surprise. While it lacked the complex, interesting plot of The Goblet of Fire, and the twist ending of The Prisoner of Azkaban, it still proved to be a well-written book with nice charater development, and a mind-bending climax (I had to read very careful because there is so much going on in the "Ministry of Magic" scenes).
Some signature "Rowlingisms" I missed were Hagrid and Professor Dumbledore (who are given minor roles at best). Professor Umbridge, a Ministry agent placed as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, was truly horrible, a skin-crawlingly irritating person. Professor Snape, despite his bad reputation, has an intriguing side which shows up in this book - if he hates Harry so much, why does he help him at a crucial moment? I personally feel Snape's alleged Voldemort connections are nothing more than a plant he needs to help with his new job spying on Death Eaters.
Speaking of which, the "bad guys" are not as evil as the last book, but still it was very satisfying to read about Lucius Malfoy being caught as a Death Eater, and defeated at the Ministry. The battle between Lord Voldemort and Dumbledore was a bit disappointing though. These two are the most powerful wizards in the world, they're mortal enemies. I've been waiting for them to meet face-to-face from Day One, but their duel was surprisingly tame. I was expecting some big-league magic.

To sum up: This book has a better plot than The Chamber of Secrets, and it is nice and long unlike The Philosopher's Stone (which was a mere glimpse of Rowling's talent). It doesn't quite measure up to the last two installments. If you have the other books in the series this is still well worth buying.

Summary: An Amazing and Quick Read
Review: J.K Rowling has done it again in this vast, gripping novel. I like to call myself an avid reader and this book proves my point. I got this book on a Tuesday at one o'clock and had finished it by the same time the next day. Not only did it keep me turning pages, it also had it's intended effect on me; I was happy for the characters one moment, and suspicious of them the next. I have never read a more exciting, riveting book as this despite it's size. Many will enjoy this book. Coming from my fourteen years of experience, I know a good book when I see one. Some of you won't believe me because of my age, but I've read more books than a lot of adults and I'm telling you that you won't regret reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Rowling does it again
Review: First of all I just have to say that I love the way in which J.K. Rowling has written her books, based on the maturity level of the characters in the books (Harry, Hermione, Ron) and this method makes for a much deeper novel. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, she not only does this successfully but writes from Harry's perspective of a 15 to 16 year old boy. In the summer before his 5th year at Hogwarts, Harry is nearly kicked out of his house at Privet Drive, and I'm not going to tell you just why he does, but I will say the word 'dementors' is involved, and is then rescued by people from the Order of the Phoenix. The Order is a secret "society", you could call it, that is bent on defending both the muggle and wizarding world from the Dark Lord Voldemort. As Harry begins his year at Hogwarts after somewhat of a shaky summer, he can already tell that dark things will unfold. Rowling not only returns in this book with the most conniving, vicious, and not to mention malicious bad guys (I even got to the point that I, myself, hated her), but developes Harry's hope for romance with his crush, Cho Chag. The unity of the four houses of Hogwarts is tested as the Dark Lord Voldemort solidifies his hold in the world, coming back with even more substance and plays at the great puppetmaster that he is. If you've read the Harry Potter books before, this is a must read book, and is THE must read series for anyone looking for something new to read.
