Summary: an ok read
Review: If you are a total Harry Potter lover, like I am, you can stand getting through this book. Other wise, you probaly won't like it. After J.K Rowling's other books, this one was a bummer. I highly recomend that you read her other books before you judge this one. Harry ,throughout this book, was snappy and inconsiderate, true, but hey, he's going from kid to teen. This story is more for 11yrs and above.

Summary: A splendid book!!
Review: Harry Potter and the order of the Pheonics is a fantastic book. The only downfall of it was that it sometimes took to long to get to the point of somethings. Some people may say that this builds suspence but when it keeps happening it makes the book drag on unnesessarily. But apart from that it is a fantastic book that makes readers never want to put it down. I suggest to anyone to read the Harry Potter series.

Summary: Harry Potter #5
Review: Yes this book is long but the author has a lot of history she has to cover. It explains a lot about the relationship of Harry and Voldemort. It answered a lot of questions about Harry's past and why Voldemort was so intent on killing him. Plus it introduced more of Snapes charter, the relationship he had with James Potter, Lupin and Sirius along with rest of the Order of the Phoenix. J.K. Rowling keeps you on the edge of your seat. I liked it and have read it several times and still come up with more info. Can't wait until #6.

Summary: Not what i expected
Review: It is true that J.K.Rowling has captured the loyalty of several fans and that her first four books were a masterpiece in their own. this fifth instalment however has been disappointing and as others say it is more like waffling about the idea of an order of the phoenix. It dosent really satisfy the thirst for knowing more of Voldemorts rebirth and the after math but concentrates on Harry who too has become an insolent freak, im sorry to say. It was nothing but a stack of papers with little interest and no captivating details. in other words it was boring!

Summary: Extraoridinary
Review: Being in Art and Entertainment-Harry Potter Chat on AOL longer than anyone on earth is, to me, a great honor. Not many people do things more or longer than anyone on the planet. And in my time in there, through 5 long years, I've heard a lot. I knew when every book would be coming out, what its title would be, and what to expect. Order of the Phoenix is a true winner among the other books. It stands out to me because I've grown up with Harry; (...). It's almost as if we were classmates in a way... But I can relate to him in the fifth installment of the series better than the others,(...). She knew her stuff, and added more depth and character (not to mention more background) than ever to all the characters, even the newest ones. And, like the True Story of Life, things get darker for Harry. Banned from Quidditch, the loss of a loved one, and facing stronger trials and tribulations under the fist of the Ministry of Magic, Harry learns to cope with the adversities of the ultimate test of Life. This time, it's not just magic for Harry or his fans...it's personal.

Summary: Good, yet disappointing
Review: After reading Order of the Pheonix, I feel that Rowling is losing her spark. Still, this is a good novel.

Most reviewers are complaining about the length and slow pace. Personally I didn't have a problem with this. I say you can never have too much Harry Potter, even if he is just renovating his godfather's house or visiting the Ministry of Magic.

My quip is with the tone of the book and the plot itself. I realize that we should expecting the novels to become darker as Harry matures and he faces more and more dire straits, but this book felt continually melancholy. Quite frankly I was depressed before I reached page 100.

And for all the mystery and build-up of suspense, the ending felt anti-climactic. In fact, there was really no plot, no purpose behind the events of the story. In the end I felt all I got was information perhaps setting up later events in the novels to come, but no action.

But like I said, this is still a great book. Rowling adds some good new characters: Umbridge is a truly terrifying, villainous teacher (I'd take Snape over her any day!); Luna Lovegood's mysterious and humorous; Tonks is great fun. I was especially impressed with the development of Neville Longbottom.

I'm grading this harshly (3 stars), because I'm going by the standards of the other Potter novels. It's still a good book, and a must-read for any fan.

Summary: Excellent, though not perfect
Review: Rowling is better than ever as a story-teller. Her imagination and level of detail are to be envied, and her penchant for creating complex, interesting GOOD guys (and gals) ought to be required study for wannabe authors. She furthers her franchise storyline well, with a compelling plot and fanciful yet humanly believable occurrences. The book itself is outrageously long, yet never feels so. Rowling is a genius, as she demonstrates in this book.Rowling is so popular and so successful that her editor is afraid to, well, edit. No, the book never drags, but that's no excuse for taking 800+ pages for what could have been said equally well in a hundred pages less. That is the editor's job; it seems the editor at Scholastic has forgotten, and thus has done Ms. Rowling a disservice. Rowling herself seems to have forgotten that her purported target audience is children; she has written a book darker and more angst-ridden than most parents would generally feel comfortable exposing their nine-year-olds to (though we make an exception for her). Adults may be imperfect and even untrustworthy, but the level of maliciousness inhabited by these four (Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon, Snape, and Umbridge) is not only despicable, it becomes farcical. ...

Summary: Amazing
Review: The fifth instalmet of the Harry potter series was in my opinion the best. J.K. Rowling has written an amazing novel. Harry potter and the Order of the Phoenix keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times. I've now read it 7 times and can't get enough of it. I finished it the first day it was out. I wouldn't do anything that day until I was finished reading. It's a great book.

Summary: Growing Up Harry
Review: This fifth book recounting the life of the young wizard phenom, Harry Potter, delves into his adolescence. In this book, the author is particular concerned to bring out Harry's teenage angst. Harry worries about everything, but unlike the typical teen, Harry has cause to worry. First, he is being persecuted as somone who is not entirely sane or, at best, is a braggart. Secondly, You-Know-What wants and needs Harry dead. Yet, that is no surprise either.

This particular book about Harry does start a bit slow. Yet, it seems unlikely that people who are truly fans of this series will find that to be a hindrance. Regardless, the book ends quite well and is full of action after the first 200 pages. The reader is highly rewarded in the end. To that end, I recommend it as very good light reading.
