Rating: Summary: great book Review: I knew the wait for the fifth book was like 3 years but I really wasn't so anxious or eagar to get it untill the day it came out. Even though harry is always angry and ron hermoine and cho it was still good. But you can tell harry is always the 'hero' which will later cost him someone he truly cares for! But recomended and if you want to know who he loses read the book. By the way the death of ****** was so pitiful its like he or she wanted to die. Cedrics death was a bit better.
Rating: Summary: Which Edition? Review: You'll buy it and read it, of course. Maybe you've already bought a copy. So what possible decisions are left for a serious Harry fan to make? How about this: should you buy this edition or the UK version? The answer is simple: this is the edition to get! Almost everything about the US edition is superior to the UK version: from the typeface (larger, fuller, and clearer) and page layout (ample margins) to the binding (much easier to hold open) and the artwork (the UK edition has none, and the fun fonts used for decrees, letters, and other documents is absent from the UK edition) this edition wins.
Rating: Summary: Hurray for Harry! Review: This book was great. Perhaps it did not have the depth of #4 but it follows Harry's progression well. This is not a light-hearted book - beware. Kids may not find it as enjoyable as the previous installments. A definite must read. Can't wait until number six!
Rating: Summary: Loony, Grawp, Umbridge... Review: Finally at last I have finshed reading Book 5 the Order of the Phoenix. It took me a whole month to get through the first half and a couple of evenings to finish the last half. I must say that I did enjoy the book in the end. I found the first 200 pages very slow going and am not sure whether it was necessary for the begininng to be so lengthy. However, I thought it was very interesting to find out more about the characters of Harry's parents and their peers when they were younger. I would have liked to have read more about their past. No doubt we shall in Books 6 and 7. Maybe, just maybe, Ms. Rowling will do a prequel (à la Star Wars) to the HPs and tell the stories of James Potter, Sirius, Lupin, Snape et al??!!! I liked the finale and found it to be a very dramatic build up and exciting climax, after slogging through the first few hundred pages. There are many new and strange characters, with equally wonderful names, introduced into Book 5. Luna Lovegood lives up to her nickname Loony and Dolores Umbridge was pure evil! Grawp is cute in a frightening sort of way "Hagger, Hagger...Hermy?" Well the death of a significant character finally arrives but do not read the spoilers like I did, otherwise it will take out half the enjoyment of completing the book. I would have given 5 stars if the beginning had not been so slow. Excellent stuff! Can't wait for Book 6. Will we have to wait another 3 more years? Lealing
Rating: Summary: The best Potter yet Review: J.K. Rowlings latest title in the Harry Potter series is the best yet. As usual the book starts with Harry spending time at the Dursleys a long way from his friends (and enemies) at Hogwarts. But something is different this time. First of all Harry has grown a year older (he is now fifteen) and there's a lot people trying to make him look untrustworthy in the public. This is especially done by writings in the paper Daily Prophet. The reason for this campaign against Harry is that the ministry of Magic simply denies that the dark Lord Voldemort has returned. When the minister of Magic at the same time is paranoid and has got the idea that Prof. Dumbledore is conspiring against him in order to seige power in the ministry doesn't improve things for Harry. When Harry arrives at Hogwarts the ministry has sent a representative (Prof. Dolores Umbridge) who is really messing things up at school by interfering in every little tiny thing that happens at Hogwarts. At the same time she is appointed to take care of the classes in Defence against Dark Arts and even manages to be High Inquisitor of Hogwarts. Its the fifth year at Hogwarts for Harry, Ron and Hermoine and they have to take OWL examns in a lot of topics so they are all busy. At the same time Harry experiences the difficulties of the first love when he's trying to figure out the relationship with Cho. The young wizrd is going through a lot of trouble and he is obviously confused about getting older but also about the relationship between himself and the dark lord. The novel is all the way building up to the great final where Harry once again has to stand face to face with Voldemort only this time he has to pay a higher price for the encounter than he had in the previous encounters as he actually loses one of his loved ones. All in all a great novel and I cannot price it enough.
Rating: Summary: New to the Harry Potter Realm Review: I didn't read the earlier books, but got curious about this one after seeing the first two movies. My brand of fantasy has been the Lord of the Rings. While I've read authors other than Tolkien in the past, I've been disappointed. Often they seem to be giving lavish descriptions, other than telling a good story. Rowling seems to have the gift of being a good storyteller, and that says a lot. I didn't get the idea this was a pale, sub tale, out of one of the LOTR books. Another thing to recommend about this book is the tone. The HP novels are finally getting out of the realm of kiddies books. I think the author wanted to write a more adult oriented tale. She at least wanted to cater a bit more to teenagers, or college-aged people. That's good, because she's following her audience as it grows up. I think she likes to write this way better, because this book is much larger than the previous books. I had heard they would do just more movie, with the actor who plays Harry in the films. Since he's growing up here, he may as well grow up on the screen as well. I think they should reconsider that casting. Especially, if the next book has Harry grow up much more. To say these books are wildly anticipated, could be called an understatement! A friend of mine mentioned a commotion; the day people started discussing these at the office. A few people warned the others to not reveal any of the plots, since they had not read very far. It damn near started a riot, when someone mentioned Harry had impregnated a lady friend (it wasn't true of course). They were just fishing, to get a rise out of their co-workers. If you've never read a 500+ page book before, this is a good one to start on. Some books read slow, and you will bookmark and read them over the course of months. This book is hard to put down, and some fans may have even finished it in a day. I recommend spacing it out a little bit. Its not like there will be another one out next month!

Rating: Summary: A Total New York Times Best Seller Review: If you haven't read the other 4 books you should before you read this book. This book is probably the best book of all of the Harry Potter books J.K. Rowling has written. The book is reccomended for children up to 12 years, but I would reccomend it for adults too. The language and vocabulary in the book is pretty advanced so it keeps the book moving along. This book is very good and has alot of drama which adds to the constant excitement. I would be prepare for very etreme parts where it will be really sad or lonely and angry or such funny moments you laugh each time you read it. This book it a great sequel to the 4th book and I would reccomend EVERYONE to buy it, or at least read it.
Rating: Summary: Presenting reality beyond the magic of the book Review: I must say that book 5 was not what i expected. although i knew that it would be darker than the previous books, i can say that the dark mood set throughout the book changed my own state of mind for at least a week. So parents, take caution before you buy it for your kids; they will not be encountering the same innocent and happy harry in this one. But i still rate this book 5 stars because JK Rowling's story has only gotten more exciting and i don't think there is one person who will not read the next book because of this one. And besides, it seems that bad reviews of book 5 have developed from the reviewer's love for harry and sadness that his life has resulted in such chaos and sorrow. Yes, although it pains me to see harry angry throughout the book and furious and sad at the end, i can only say that that's the way it is. JK Rowling has to write the way she wants to and what do you expect in book 5? Like in real life, there is not always a happy ending. Harry Potter's world presents readers with a microcosm of our own society that is perhaps, too real for their own comfort. Still Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is one of the best books in the series and i recommed it to anyone who is mature enough to handle the stress and appreciate the literature.
Rating: Summary: Amazing book after a very long wait! Review: This book is simply amazing! I was one of the many people who waited in a long line (in the pouring rain) at midnight for Order of the Phoenix! Proud to say i got the first book! And read it all in one day! It is one of the best books of the series (my favorite being Prisoner of Azkaban) and lives up to all the hype! I laughed, I yelled, I cried, but above all I enjoyed it! The first chapter gets you hooked into the world of spells, wands, wizards, elves, corrupt Ministries, loving families, moody teens, new DADA teacher, terrible potions, O.W.Ls, laughs, dementors, giants, and Harry Potter! from beginning to end this book is amazing! anyone who loves the Harry Potter series will love this next installment! it does not disappoint! we can only wait anxiously for the next book!
