Summary: Outstanding - the story continues to mature
Review: Order of the Phoenix is truly the best installment in the series yet, and it is exactly what it is meant to be: a more serious and mature point in the Harry Potter storyline. This is Harry's 5th year at Hogwarts; everyone is older, their personalities are more refined, and greater responsibilities are at hand. A lot of bad things are starting to happen in the world of magic. In essence, the fun - or most of it - is over. This book still made me laugh plenty of times; Rowling's humor will always be there. But this is a serious story and she has the ability to make it seem very real. I think anyone who is disappointed about this book not being as "fun" as previous ones has the wrong idea. Life was not exactly "fun" when I was an adolescent, and Rowling brings all of those fears, anxieties, uncertainties, and doubts to life. You may not be able to read Phoenix to a six year old, and THANK GOD for that, because it means that the characters, as well as the story itself, are growing up. Somehow, I have the feeling that the events in year 5 will be nothing compared to what happens in the next two. I can hardly wait!

Summary: I stayed up all night reading this and it was so worth it.
Review: I had stayed up to six am reading this book and may I say that it was worth it. I love J.K. Rowling's writing style, it is easy to read and there is an ability to glide through it. I loved the cast of characters and I have gained a lot of respect for both Snape and Longbottom. I loved this novel to bits and pieces and it was the best in the series so far

Summary: I loved it!!!!
Review: I just finished the 5th Harry Potter book. I was so thoroughly engaged in the story that I didn't even notice how when I was finished it was 3 o'clock in the morning. actually this is a good thing because I was crying my eyes out and if it had been any earlier the nieghbors would have heard me from accross the street. I must have been living in a hole because I did not hear someone was going to die until yesterday. I actually found my self hoping it wouldn't be Sirius or Lupin because I grew quite attached to them in the 3rd book. when the death finely happened it happened so fast I couldn't believe it. I didn't really understand what the veil was, so similar to poor Harry I was thinking the person who died would reappear. he couldnt go just like that! And I think it is because he went so suddenly that it was so sad. there was no closure. but that's the way things are, right? on other subjects ugh I never want to her "hem, hem" again! that Deloris Umbridge was simply unbearable. really the kind of person you love to hate! I got quite a grin out of the students ah, total disregard for her rules. There was not as many scenes with Ron and Hermione(did I spell that right?) and Harry as I would have liked but you
know I think this book was more Harry and Harry alone. Because he was alone with the things he had to deal with even with his friends there. All and all this book had a darker tone then the previous but not the
less good and it turned out to be a real tear-jerker for me. well those are my views on the
new book in the series.

Summary: Totally argumentative and depressing - NOT HARRY
Review: This book is unlike all the Harry Potter books before it. It apparently wasn't edited and is waaaaay too long. By the 700th page you wonder if anything will be solved and it isn't. All the characters lose their desirable characteristics, especially Harry who becomes incompetent, unsure of himself, constantly depressed to the last page, and has no triumphs at all. Could this even have been written by Rowling? Even with all the reviewers writing glowing reviews word will get out that this is one depressing book and lacks each and every redeeming thing about her earlier books. It leads up to a big fight after almost 700 pages which solves nothing. The kid really, really needs Prozac by the end which is weak and drifts off into sniveling misery. I can't believe she ruined Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid and even Dumbledore who becomes depressed and unsure of himself like all the rest. Harry even screws things up with Cho. I can't believe I read the whole thing which clearly the name brand reviewers didn't. I was going to give this book to my daughter for her wedding but now I have to think about throwing away a 30 dollar book. I've never done that before. This is triumph of hype over substance. I know you'll buy it because of the first four but don't let them tell us the next one is a masterpiece. She apparently was either going thru a nasty divorce or only had four books in her. Nobody matured in this book. Nobody won a brilliant fight or succeeded where they shouldn't have. Reading it is like growing up in an abusive family. Constant bickering, everyone hating everyone. Not a single warm and fuzzy relationship. Total drag. I'll read the next one in the library.

Summary: Long and Disappointing
Review: I loved the other books in the series and really looked forward to this one. I enjoy JK Rowling's creativity, and wish she had come up with a more creative plot line in this one. It should have been edited more. It was disappointing to read so much to be left with such a disappointing ending. It seemed silly to have a whole book in the series based on characters making stupid mistakes. So far, my rating of the series is as follows from favorite to least favorite: 3 & 4 are tied for favorite, then 2, then 1, then 5 very far last. I hope 6 & 7 are better. I'd give the second, third and fourth books in the series 5 stars, the 1st book 4 stars and the fifth book 2 stars.

Summary: Worth The Waiting?
Review: I was one amoung the first to read 'The Order Of Phoenix' in my group .I love the Harry Potter series. Each book is full of excitement ad humour and this book does not fail to deliver it.This book is even more interesting as it starts from the story itself without any introduction.Harry's change from a young hero to a jealous, sullen boy is bit sudden.Fred and George's part is as always funny and witty.Ginny and Neville are given a more prominent role.My favourite part is the penseive.I love the scene where Lily argues against James.Rowling has described each character beautifully and each part fills us with emotion....Dumbledore's speech at the is a bit streched and makes us a little impatient....But if given a chance I would read it a few more times.

Summary: Magical in a Different Way
Review: Someone might point fingers at this book in mockery and rage 'This book lacks the magic of the others!' I can see where someone might get this idea... In the middle of the book, I started thinking to myself, 'What is this? This doesn't sound, look or feel like a Harry Potter book.' Here's just a sampling of some of the strange occurences (Harry is extremely angry, at himself, at the Dursleys, at his friends, at Dumbledore... and at times it almost seems as though this is the last few chapters of a suicide victims life... Harry gets a 'wet' kiss which lasts a half hour... goes on a date... gets in deeper trouble with teachers than usual... yells at Dumbledore... makes him cry... DRAMA!) It's a heavy book... it truly is... there's no magic in the sense that it doesn't have the chipper, comical outlook which is seen fluently in Books 1-4 (excluding Book 4's ending). But, I do believe this book was extremely neccesary. I don't have a fav. HP book, but I do have ones I don't like as much as the others, and this wasn't one of them. I repect this book in every way. But, in all honesty, this won't be a cute children's movie if it's made into a movie. This should just be left as what it is: a classic piece of literature over-turning a new leaf in an ingenius series. Good Job JK!

Summary: GOOD AND BAD
Review: Harry Potter's 5th year at Hogwarts does not start of well. finding no Hagrid and and a new Defence of the Dark Arts teacher;Professor Umbridge, and finding no time he gets behind in his homwork, both Ron and Hermione are prefects. When Harry goes to detention with Umbridge to trouble starts with the cruel professor. But things start to clear up once the D.A. (Dumbledore's Army) is formed. Just when things started looking good Harry is taken away his Quidditch priveledges! THAT UMBRIDGE!
When Hagrid comes back he's all beat up, Harry wakes up from weird dreams and reports them to Dumbledore, extra lessons with Snape, crushes, people thinking Harry's a nut, Umbridge headmistress, truth about his parents, giants in the forbidden forest, sacked teachers, O.W.L.s, heads popping out of fires, fling on thestrals, prophecies? Read Harry Potter #5 if you are curious!
I thought J. K. Rowling did an exellent job explaining Harry's thoughts and fellings. Although his temper, the way he treated his friends and the swearing was desturbing. I recomend this book to anyone who has read this series and liked them. If you haven't you should!

J.K.- If you are reading DO NOT listen to Dissapointed, Reveiwer: Ski429 from Conway AR USA!!!!! She\He doesn't know what she\he is talking about! Maybe she\he writes books but the way she\he talks about yours I'd hate to try one of hers\his! I especailly liked the part about the D.A.! The one thing I would really enjoy would be for Dumbledore to show more emotion!

Summary: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Review: J K Rowling's newest novel continues to follow the story of the famous teenage wizard called Harry Potter and his adventures. The author of this entrancing(haha)series always seems to try to balance humor, adventure and mystery in her books, and I've always thought that she does a decent job of it. However, I think that the first Harry Potter story has the most humor and is the most fun in a number of ways. The books get steadily longer, and in this one Harry seems to have developed a temper problem! Overall, this book is a good read and hooks readers of all ages.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great story, but not as amusing as others
Review: I read this in two evenings, but I read fast. The other books I have read several times each. Each time they make me laugh quite often. This book takes itself much more seriously than earlier works did. Didn't find myself laughing very often, which was a bit disappointing.

Feeling a bit nostalgic for the over the top silliness and caricature whimsy of other stories in the series.

But, hey. Rowling has a hard act to follow. It's a very good book, just not quite a 5 star.
