Summary: disappointing miss
Review: Harry Potter 5 was very disappointing--(1) it was very descriptive and repetitive (2) the actual climax does not come till the last 100 pages which were good
Overall the plot was average and Book four really was far superior and had may aspects like the Triwizard tournament, etc
3 yrs of wait really dampened it
I think perhaps the author may have been distracted owing to the motion pictures being made and perhaps the quality of the book may have suffered
Definitely not the best

Summary: Bravo!
Review: This book was fantastic. I don't understand why people say it [was bad], really. Sure it is quite diferent from the others, but really, would you rather read the same thing all over again? People complain about Harry's change, but please, was he supposed to stay like a little kid in all of the books?!Come on! He's growing up! They say the book's too long, well, I say "The longer, the better!" Would you rather read a 200 page book? Because if you do, you're MENTAL.

Overall, this book was great. I just hope for two things:
1. That we don't have to wait three more years for the sixth book.

2. That Rowling finds another word that isn't "mate"

Summary: Not worth the hype
Review: I was thoroughly disappointed and frustrated with this 5th installment. With J.K.'s success, she and/or her team seems to have grasped marketing well, as she not only delayed the release of this book to increase hype, but many of the sequential situations that I felt should have occurred this book for book 6 or 7. It's turned me off for future installments.

I will grant that the last 2% of the book was fast paced and it contained some great scenes- especially those that I'd hope to see from the beginning, it was too short lived and too seemed a bit too tidy.

I also felt that this novel lacked the little extra descriptions we're used to seeing, a new secret about the wizarding world or even the greater importance of the O.W.L.S. on the future of the characters. Nor were some plots followed through with the consequences of the actions made.

While you may think this unjust, but I expected more out of what I thought was a gifted writer - now I've starting to feel that the books are marketing/sales driven than storyline based. It is highly unlikely that I will buy any of the sequels.

Summary: Lacks Substance!!
Review: I consider myself a fan of Harry Potter, and being a Mom of teenager's who rarely read, managed to turn both my teens into Harry readers. All three of us said the same thing about this book...."This book isn't going anywhere" The other four Harry Potter books were much more superior. There were no "Harry Adventures", the characters were poor, and very frequently felt that issues in the book were not resolved. I purchased all the Harry Potter books, but got this one from the Library....luckily I didn't spend the money

Summary: Way above the bar!
Review: J.K.Rowling has really outdone herself. She has taken a storyline that no one said would work, and has turned it into a masterpiece. This book will definitely not dissapoint. I was amazed at the feelings that this book was able to pull from me. I was fairly caught off guard by her sever plot twists. I was moved by this book and I encourage readers of all ages to read it. The only fault I found in this book was that the many references to book 4 (The Goblet of Fire) constantly had me going back to find out what they were refering to. I even felt that if you have not read book 4, you would most likely miss a lot of the story. However seeing as how all of her books are good reads, it would be a good idea to be caught up with them all anyway. In closing, I can only hope to see many more books by J.K. Rowling before she lets us off of this awe inspiring broom ride.

Summary: Harry Potter twist in the end
Review: This book like all harry potter books is great and amazing. You feel as if your standing there next to harry potter and hermione and ron on their great adventures. We all know harry potter has always had a great twist in the end. as in this one was what dumbledore said to harry. The shock that such an important character close to harry dies ( not mentioning who) harry is conected to his past more then ever. this book not to mention has raging hormones between fellow hogwarts students. A new defense against the dark arts teacher is there as well. Its all great. i reccomend it. as well as all the others. for harry potter lovers out there we all know this as a great book.

Summary: Doesn't feel like 870 pgs - reading time magically flies by!
Review: This may be my favorite Harry Potter book so far!

You would think a writer would lose steam 5 books into a series -- and each time making the tale longer, but this doesn't happen. In fact, it feels to me like JK Rowling's giving the readers a treat by giving them MORE each time.

Many of our questions about the series are answed in this installment but the stage is also set for the final showdown with "he who must not be named".

You get to spend a little time with all your favorite characters from the series -- plus you get to meet a few more.

I hope Rowling doesn't wait 3 more years to put out another book -- but if that is the price of her creativity -- then it's for the best.

Summary: Great, but could have been better
Review: As usual, this new HP book is great, outstanding, now we can see a braver, more secure about himself, and especially better prepared Harry Potter to face all the challenges that his enemies put in front of him.

I just couldn't put the book down, read it in only 7 days, and a thrilling ending, just like the other books, but there's one great and exciting difference, the action starts after the first couple of pages, you don't have to wait until the second chapter for things to get thrillingly exciting.

There's only one thing that bothers me, you don't get a feeling that Harry Potter and his friends are really in danger when fighting his enemies, I mean, all the spells used against them are the very same ones these kids are learning at school, and I would think that evil grown wizards should use more powerful, and more dangerous spells that the ones fifth graders are mastering, that's why I took away one star.

Despite that, the book is great and is a must read for all Harry Potter fans, and everybody else as well.

Summary: Potter has lost all it's magic
Review: Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Harry POtter. But, this one really disapointed me. Besides from the fact that it was like a thousand pages long and would have been worth the same rating had it been only a hundred, Harry has so many emotional issues it's not even funny.

Okay, it's a little funny when he starts yelling at Ron and his crush Cho Chang, but not funny in the way that the other books were. Harry seriously needs to go to anger manegment.

If you ignore Harry's rapidely changing personality, then you get to the plot. Basically, the whole book is leading up to the end where there is an adventure and harry has a heart to heart talk with Dumbledore, where we learn absoulutely nothing about anything!

The action is disapointing and the wrong characters die. I'm not saying who, but the book would have been a whole lot better if Harry would just die already.

There's very little action, asides from playing Quitige (sorry about spelling), and what attempted action and excitment there is, could be beaten by a Berstein Bears book.

It seems to me that Ms. Rowling has either been trying way to hard, or not hard enough to make this book actually good. She seems to attempt to cram in as much pathetic action and mystery as possible, most of which doesn't tie up in the end. Also, we learn very little about his parents or Voldemort, besides from the fact that maybe Neivelle should be famous insted of Harry. Which would be interesting.

So, in conclusion, unless your stuck in an airport for a very very VERY long time, this book is not worth your while. Harry POtter has truely lost all it's magic.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Review: This fifth book of the Harry Potter series was amazing. J.K. Rowling writes brilliantly. This book is my second favourite, after Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I do not agree with J.K. Rowling on the character that died. That person should not have died. It was unfair and sad. But I still rate this book 5 stars.

Harry does magic to save him and his enormous cousin, Dudley. Then gets a trial, and gets off.

The new DADA teacher is somebody we haven't met before. Harry cannot decide who he hates more, her or Snape.

The Order of the Phoenix is a group, and here are some people that are in it: Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Dumbledore, Sirius Black, Serverus Snape, Minerva Mc Gonagall, and Mundungus. They are telling people that Voldemort is back, and are guarding the thing that he is after. That thing is about Harry and Voldemort.
