Summary: Well-written but with faults...
Review: I have been a fan of the Harry Potter series since the first book. A casual fan. I'm not one of those people who's life revolves around these books. But I ordered this book from amazon.com and therefore got it on the release date. I finished in a few days. Let me be straight with you. This book is well-written. The description is as good as usual. But here are my complaints about it:
1) It a little long-winded. Did this book HAVE to be this long?...
2) The "death" does happen but its extremely confusing. And the character isn't as major as I thought it would be.
3) The character of Professor Umbridge is possibly the most annoying I have ever read. And she's in every single chapter! She was enough to make be have to put the book down on occasion.
4) This book doesn't feel the same as the others. Harry is so angry and confused that its hard to even like him. The relationship with Cho feels forced. Hermione and Ron aren't in it that much and when they are Harry is screaming at them. Plus, Harry's anger at Dumbledore leaves you feeling weird.
5) The climax is exciting, but not as important as the Book 4 climax.

Defintely read this book if you like the series. But don't assume its going to be perfect.

Summary: More to Look Forward To Than a Gryff-Slyth Quidditch Match
Review: If you so much as like any of the first four installments of the Harry Potter series, you will absolutely love The Order of the Phoenix. Rowling wastes no time cutting into the action and diving into the 'X-Files'-ish conspiracies and mysteries that outline the novel. Many new themes and subjects come up throughout the book, including rage, affection, chaos, and many others. The brand new characters really helped to make the book that much more enjoyable, and even though the story is extremely long, there comes a chapter or two somewhere after the middle that marks the point where you have no choice but to keep reading without setting down the book--that is how intriguing the story is. I still love the first four books, but Order totally blows them all away. My Potter rank: 1. Order 2. Prisoner 3. Chamber 4. Sorcerer's Stone 5. Goblet

Summary: Very stressfull to say the least
Review: Each book was better than the last, except book 5. I rate it a 3, all others being varying degrees of 5. Never ending stress dolled out for 700 pages. It makes me think that the author has had experiences with some really foul human beings. Most of the other books had highs and lows thoughout the book. Nothing but low, lower, and lowest, with the lowest being the climax! Do I recommed the read, yes, but only to hopely prepare for better book, #6 and #7. I am sure that some like minded thoughts will make it back to the author.

Summary: DEEPER INTO HARRY'S LIFE...
Review: Well, I read the book in a day. Then I reread it over and over again...I just can't get my mind off Harry. ... And I came to understand that there are two types of readers. The first group reads the book to be entertained by the adventurous events in it, and they are quite right to be disappointed. Because Order of the Phoenix causes more frowns than smiles. But the second group ( which i count myself in ) reads the book with crave for information, just to quench their thirst to learn more about Harry and his life. That's why we are NOT disappointed but sad. I love Harry and his companions, and I understand his mood. I felt the same pain whenever he raised his voice or displayed his anger because he had all the right to do so. I just hoped that the harshness of life wouldn't darken his beloved heart. I just hope that he could find peace in his heart and learn to live with his pain. And for the loss that we all suffered at the end, well... i cried in the middle of the night... with the book on my lap... i am still in denial.
But as Merlin said "Fate is inexorable"...
Now we wait...not for another 3 years I hope...

Summary: What's up with Harry?
Review: Why is Harry Potter in such ill temper lately? Is it just teenage angst or is there something more. He has been having nightmares. He is concerned about the looming terror of the 5th year O.W.L (Ordinary Wizarding Level ) exams. His scar has been really bothering him and he is sure "He Who Must Not Be Named" is back; but nobody seems to believe him including the Ministry of Magic. Just what is the strange connection between Harry and Voldemort and how much does Aunt Petunia really know? The Daily Prophet has been having a field day besmirching his name all summer. This book is a great read. But if it has been awhile since you have read the last book you might want to skim over it. Ms. Rowling took so long getting this one out that you might not remember certain things. Happy reading!

Summary: Great Book
Review: This book was so awesome - definately a great addition to the series. In parts it seems a little drawn out but it was well worth it - I can't wait to read what happens to Harry Potter next. Although, I do hope the next book isnt as long, lol.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: In this book Harry has to stand trial for a crime he didn't commit! Will he get off the hook? After all he already has 2 warnings against him. When he finally returns to school, everything is in an uproar! Mainly because of the new teacher. She's a Ministry of magic official and she is et to make everybody's life miserable. She is constantly giving Harry detention and it isn't easy. She makes him wirte with a quill that cuts the words into his hand and uses his blood for ink! She doesn't even tell the truth to the students and forbids them to contradict her. Not to mention the fact that Harry and his friends are being chased by the death Eaters and that Harry loses someone very dear to him in the process. you'll love this book!

Summary: ...these three...
Review: My wife was in tears when she finished the book, not because of the death that took place, but because of the glimpse we were given of things to come. I almost needed a tissue myself. The ending was rather melancholy, but was not without hope. The author apparently fully appreciates that while there can be forgiveness, the effects of evil cannot be wholly undone, at least not in this world. I have a strong inkling of where JK Rowling may be headed, and if I am correct, I applaud her boldness and daring. I have read '...Phoenix', twice and am in the process of rereading the first four. What took place in Phoenix brought a lot of what happened in one through four into much sharper focus. To state the obvious, this is not an onging series like CS Lewis' Narnia stories, but is one continuous story like Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings'. Read from that perspective the whole thing makes much more sense than if read as separate installments. I hope you like the story, it has been told before, but bears retelling. I believe Harry's anger and anguish, present in so much of number five, were reactions to the unimaginable suffering he has had to endure up to now. Though he asked Dubledore to relieve him of the task he has been elected to bear, the final conversations he has with Nick and Luna seem to indicate he experienced an epihany of sorts. He now appears to be willing to take up his burden, having been strengthened and shaped, as though by a potter, by the pain and suffering he has endured. "...faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love" or "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Summary: Not disappointing but not an incredibly pleasant surprise
Review: I was as excited as the next person about Order of the Phoenix, and it was good, but not my favorite. I'd say it was just too REAL. For one thing, Harry getting all angry all the time (even at Ron and Hermione) annoyed me a lot. I know, I know, he's a teenager, he's supposed to act like that, everyone else who's read it likes it that way, but I personally liked him better a few years younger. I was also confused about why the author kept on reprising characters from previous books (Professor Lupin, Rita Skeeter, Firenze, etc . . .) And the Department of Mysteries: waaaaay too random. What was with the brains and the bell jar that reverses time?! Huh??
What I did REALLY like was how well Rowling makes you dislike Professor Umbridge. She's really good at making bad guys, I'll give her that. But I WISH she hadn't killed off who she did. I'm so sad about it. If it had been in the last book, that would have been a little better, but this was too early. All in all, pretty good, but it makes me nostalgic for the old books.

(Random thought: Anyone who's read The Golden Compass: Do you suppose a Patronus is like a daemon? With the animal forms and all?)
