Review: As a group of 8 year olds, my classmates and I had the attention span of a swirling cloud of gnats. This book, however, managed to capture our attention as we wondered whether or not the unlikely heroic figure of a fallen fruit would survive until the next day. We hung on our teacher's every word as she told tales of muskrats and magpies in a world where the impossible became real. Now, eleven years later, I still credit my love for the realm of reading to the jumpstart that Prune gave to my imagination--and certainly to many others. To the author, and to my teacher (who read this book aloud to a group of antsy eight year olds), I give my thanks for the doors they opened with a little book simply known as Prune.
