Summary: A Great Read
Review: Mind-boggling. That is the only way to describe the way Sidney Sheldon writes. He has a way of letting you into each characters mind, or so you think. This novel is an extraordinary novel, and just one of his many.
Sheldon has a way of portraying each character to the point of expertise. While reading, reality and fiction mesh together. Sheldon brings the doctors to life. Each doctors past and future, could relate to any human's life and struggles. This makes it easy for any reader to become comfortable with the characters.
Another part of Sheldon's writing that captivates his readers are his plot twists. Nothing Lasts Forever may seem easy to figure out, but at that moment of knowing, a new element is thrown in, changing assumptions made before. Keeping his readers on edge, is one of his writings best attributes.
Lastly, his stories are well written. This book is understandable, yet intelligent. The preface sets the tone, and as the story proceeds, questions are answered and truths are revealed. There is a specific order throughout this book, and though it may not be visible at first, in the end everything falls right into place.
Sydney Sheldon is a superb writer, who I would recommend to anyone. The lifelike characters, twists and turns, and the overall stature of the book, makes it a page-turner that cannot be put down. I enjoyed this book immensely, and am looking forward to reading more of his work.

Summary: What are these reviewers thinking?
Review: I have this compulsion. Once I start a book I can't stop reading it because no matter how bad it is, I figure it will get better, it has to. And since this book supposedly had a suprise ending, I read the whole thing. A waste of time, and this is why:

1. There is no character development. I really didn't care what happened to any of the 3 main characters. The Honey character could've been written out and it would've made no difference. Also, there was a new character introduced like every 3 pages. Keeping names straight would have been difficult if they would have reappeared or had some significance later. But they didn't.

2. The suprise ending isn't really a suprise. You might not guess what will happen but it is so stupid that it doesn't matter anyway. I saw it coming a hundred pages away.

3. The things that happen in court are so ridiculous. Even the worst lawyer would have done better than Paige's attorney. And the events that take place are so absurd they board on fantasy. I don't need an actual reflection of reality but we aren't talking unicorns here.

I do commend Sheldon's expose on sexism in the medical field. However, there are mixed messages, i.e. when one girl loses her virginity at age 16 she thinks "now i am a woman". I certainly hope my 14 year old cousin doesn't hear things like that. Sex doesn't make you a woman. In sum, I was very disappointed. I never read a Sheldon book before and I certainly won't read one again. I don't think his style is creative, the plot and characters were lacking, and nothing kept me turning the pages but my own obsessive compulsion book reading disorder. I vow now that after a good faith effort (100 pages), if I don't like the book, I will put it down.

Summary: Who can deny that it's a good fast read?
Review: I read this book a while back. It was actually my introduction to Sidney Sheldon's book. I must say it unfolded in ways I would have never thought and the characters inner thoughts were revealed through their actions, making it an surprising read. I enjoyed it. What happens to the roommates made for a story within itself.

Summary: It's a quick read
Review: I would love Sidney Sheldon's books if he would take his time in writing more in depth of the characters and stuff. However, I did enjoy this book ~~ it's not my typical read anymore ~~ as I've read his books in high school. I haven't read this one and the mystery surrounding the three doctors at a big San Francisco hospital is a gripping read.

Dr. Paige Taylor, an ambitious heart surgeon wanna-be is accused of murder when she inherited a million dollars. Dr. Kat Turner and Dr. Honey Taft are filled with secrets of their own. While Paige fights for her life in court, the story spins unraveling the secrets of events that happened the previous year ~~ and the reader gets a closer glimpse of Paige and her roommates.

Looking for an exciting read with murder, suspense and mystery and romance? This book has it all! Despite the gritty writing, it is an enthralling read. I couldn't put the book down after a few chapters ~~ I just had to know what happened!

Summary: NOthing Lasts Forever
Review: I would recommend this book to girls more than guys because it's more like a "cchick-flick" story. There are some love scenes, family issues, and just real life situations. A particular love scene that I remember was when the main character, Dr. Paige Taylor falls in love with a childhood friend. They always say they'll be together forever, but he ends up marrying someone else and Paige got broken-hearted. Read this book and find out what happen to Paige later. A family issue that makes people wonder why some people does things they shouldn't be doing. Like Kate Hunter, a lady that got rape by her stepfather when she was young. When she told her mother, she didn't believe her and slap Kate and called her a slut. What happen to Kate afterwar? How did she become a doctor and why did she get murdered? There's many real life situation in this book that makes you wonder did it happen to yourself yet. Have you ever been to a hospital and get scared because the doctor might not know what they're doing? Betty Lou Taft became a doctor by cheating. She seduced people that got in her way of becoming a doctor. In the real world there are a lot of people that take the easy way out. Cheating to become a doctor is putting many people's lives in danger. I feel that cheating is wrong in every situation.

This book makes you keep on wanting to read until you finish. This book can leave you hanging after each chapter and wanting to know what's going to happen next. It seems like Paige was a great doctor, but why does Dr. Lawrence Barker keep on yelling at her like he doesn't like her? Did Paige have somethign that John Cronin wants? Or maybe John Cronin realizes that she's a great doctor, the only person that cares for him. Just read this book and find out. This is a really great and interesting book. I hope you will read it someday and enjoy it like I did. I hope you would recommend this book to others too.

Summary: Fun and fast paced, but not authentic of life in a hospital.
Review: If you like sex that is highly suggestive and titillating, but not really graphic, a murder mystery with a few twists, medical detective work and are willing to suspend reality for a few hours you will enjoy this book. It is pure escapist fun. (If you are a doctor you likely won't like the book, as the depiction of life in a county hospital for the three female residents, while somewhat entertaining, is mostly off the wall and in the realm of a day time soap opera.)

Sidney Sheldon has no trouble hooking the reader good, by the first page or two. The writing is fast paced enough that it is easy --if one is willing -- to suspend reality and any disbelief long enough to enjoy the ride.

The characters, while not flat, aren't exactly multi-dimensional either, despite the author attempting (and sometimes succeeding) to make things mysterious and interesting through the literary device of alternating the depictions of the three main characters, who have past histories, that shape their current life. (One who grew up in Africa; one who is brilliant, but with deep wounds in her soul; and one who is an expert in the sexual arts of the Kama Sutra.) Ironically, the potentially more multi-dimensional and engaging character is killed off too soon in the story, mainly to emotionally tear at the reader, add some gratuitous violence and set up a subplot to investigate a murder. None the less, the characters and details are still interesting enough to keep the reader's attention. Most of the villains, however, come across as flat and self centered and hence not real captivating, fortunately they are not central to the story.

The book starts out with Dr. Paige Taylor being on trial for the murder of one of her patients, with the motive being money -- lots of it. The story then flashes back to events that lead to the murder charge as well as the tragic murder of her roommate and associate. The reader's sympathies are deftly manipulated and by the end of the book one feels complete sympathy towards the characters one started out not liking.

A part I really liked is where the murder of Dr. Taylor's associate is solved through clever medical detective work. (Not going to give many details, so as not to spoil things.) While the setup for the investigation is not real believable, the medical sleuthing is engaging and done with more care and attention to detail.

By no means a piece of literature, but totally in line with mass market pulp fiction. If you have a long evening you want to kill and you like to read, you will likely be entertained and not disappointed.

Summary: Very weird read
Review: The dialogue could have been written by high school students and the characters are simple stereotypes who tend to be revealed instead of developed. Nonetheless I picked it up and couldn't stop. The reader knows exactly where the plot is going but it's figuring out how you're taken there which is so addicting. That, and since there are three seperate lives being explored, the narrative jumps back and forth, leaving you no time to get bored.

I'd recommend it if you're looking for a read, but if you die having not read this book, you won't be missing out.

Summary: Extremely well written
Review: This book is an excellent story, first of all, when you read the prologue you really hate Paige, Honey and of course you don't know anything about Kat, she wasn't there. But when you start the book and you see how the three doctors where treated when they were young you will start to understand the present.
In the middle of the book you will hate every doctor except these three woman, and of course you will love the end of the story.
Is an easy and fast book to read, it won't take you many days to finish it because you will not want to put down the book.
