Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Unforgettable Book! Review: Andy Jackson, member of the Hazelwood High School Basketball Team struggles with depression and sorrow after the tragic death of his best friend Robert Washington. Andy crashed his car while intoxicated with his three best friends after a basketball game. Andy, B.J, and Tyrone were the only three to survive. The frustration and sorrow of Rob's friends and family is shared through class assignments, notes between friends, conversations between families, the newspaper, and other documents. Andy has a very hard time dealing with his depression after the accident and loses his ability to face the future. This books deals with very real life situations present in young people's lives. It raises questions about drunk driving, depression, the role of family, friends, counselors, and teachers in students' lives. It also looks at racism in literature and through the opinions of students in an urban school. The negative aspect of this book it that it is very saddening and disturbing to read. The fact that many people encounter similar situations is frightening to me. Many times we read books and watch movies to get away from violence and for pleasure, this book is just the opposite. It ends too quickly and in an unlikely manner. However, it is still a wonderful book even though it makes the reader face pain and reality. All students should read this book because it gives a variety of writing styles. There are letters amongst friends and letters in diaries. There are dialogue conversations between family members, boyfriends and girlfriends, and teachers and students. There are also newspapers articles and people's thoughts. It gives the reader a variety of different writing styles to examine. This book is great because it deals with all the real life issues facing teenagers today. Students rarely are able to read about topics relevant to their lives and this is one that can strike a cord with almost everyone. Everyone knows someone like one of the characters in the book and everyone can relate to a character in some way. Tears of a Tiger is a remarkable book that keeps the reader interested throughout. The different styles of writing make each page a new adventure and the reader learns a new side of a character. It is a great book all the way through!

This book shows the reader the consequences of drunk driving. Many teens can relate to this book, and that's what makes this book fun to read. All and all, this was a very satisfying book. One downside may be that the author uses too much dialogue, other than that it's perfect. I would definitely recommend this book to adults and young adults. The ending left me hanging and wondering a lot about what was going on in Andy's head. I was thinking about all those people whose lives were ruined by drunk-drinking. This book left me thinking about how well the author constructed the narrative and how the situation was so realistic. This is one of those books which a reader can not put down because of its superior quality.

The hurt and guilt that Andy Jackson had to deal with after killing his bestfriend ,while driving drunk was really more than he could handle. Him not realizing who to turn to the hurt and pain was eating away at him. So the only way out to him was to klii himself and get it all over with. I recommend anyone who haven't read this book to do so because it is amazing. As a teenager I could really relate with this story. By Tynia Mitchell St Louis Mo

After they won their Basketball game a few of the team went out got drunk and got in an accident and Robert Washington, the Captain, was a passanger in the front seat while Andy was driving.Robert died and Andy took it hard and he also took all the blame for Rob's death. I tried to read many books until I found this one. It was great. It had me in suspense everyday I read it. It was real realistic because I can relate to Andy a little bit. I also enjoyed the action and the Basketball part of it. It was even emotional in some parts of the book. I was really not hoping it to end like it did but what can we do.
