Rating: Summary: A Poem By a Student at South Korea Review: Hi! I had to read this book for school because of this thing called a reading log, and I happened to write a poem about it. Hope you enjoy!Title: The Adventures of Perloo Perloo the Montmer stays snug in his bed, When suddenly, a visitor comes; cold and unfed Her name is Lucabara, and she has news to say, While lazy Perloo just wants to get away. "You are the new Granter," Perloo is told, But he can't believe it, he tries to stay bold. Unwilling, he objects- Lucabara is surprised, "I don't want to be Granter, it is my mind." Back at Central Tribe Burrow, three Montmers are plotting, All of them want to be Granter, but it's just not working. Their names are Berwig, Gumpel, and Senyous, All of them who are mean, sly, and jealous. But finally Berwig becomes the beloved Granter, And lies that innocent Perloo is a mere traitor. And so Perloo has to start his incredible journey, With nothing to eat; all tired and hungry. With Lucabara, he hops into the storm, While nothing else is to be seen- not even a worm. Later on, they encounter the Felbarts, The Montmers' true enemies, all with cold hearts. Each group's armies are ready to fight, Staring into eachother's eyes, trying to give fright. However, Perloo miraculously saves the day, Wnat to know how? Then read this book today! -The End- Avi is a truly wonderful author. I liked the way he used his characters throughout the book, who each had a different personality. I additionally liked the way how Perloo changed from the beginning to the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who merely loves reading. However, I should say that the ending was sort of lame. But, it still was a good story.
Rating: Summary: Perloo is the greatest and boldest Review: Montmers are creatures that resemble rabbits walking on their hind legs. Perloo, is one such Montmer. While he would rather stay in his den reading, Lucabara, the monarch's aide calls upon him to let him know that he has been named the new Granter and ruler of all of the Montmers. Unfortunately, Berwig the Big, rightful heir to the throne is not pleased and so accuses Perloo of murdering the previous Granter. Forced to flee, Perloo and Lucabara find solace in the arms of their enemies... Perloo stands up for himself and could even serve as a role model. He makes some very good decisions. The book had quite a bit of adventure and humor. The pace was a little slow, but I still kept turning the pages. There are a lot of political and anti-war undertones that may not be picked up by less adept readers, but it is entertaining on a surface level. Why 4 stars?: Appropriate for 5th graders and older, Perloo is an interesting, and, at times, exciting story. The political allegories are woven in expertly by Avi. But, the question is, is the reading level appropriately matched with content? This is why it had to have a star taken off. Still, it is a good addition to any child's library and works well for discussions.

You walking through a library and you see a book called Perloo the Bold you read a little and come upon an attractive ending to a chapter. You go on reading, finding the plot. Rating: Summary: Perloo the Magnificent Review: Perloo the Bold is a magnificent story for all kinds of people. Perloo is a Montmer who likes to read an just lay around. Jolaine was the old Granter and Lucabara was her first assistant. Joliane recommends that Perloo become the Granter when she dies because Perloo is an expert in Montmer history, even though her son, Berwig, is supposed to become the next Granter. Berwig's friend, Senyous, helps him plot against Perloo. Joliane's proclamation gets ripped in half and they change the proclamation in favor of Berwig. Perloo makes great decisions throughout the story. I recommend this book for 5th and 6th graders. Parents should read the book too because there are great adventures on every page. So please read this magnificent book!

Rating: Summary: Perloo the Lame Review: Perloo the Bold is one of those new fangled children's novels- all touch feely and politically correct. Perloo is a rabbit-like Montmer who enjoys history and reading. The dying leader of the Montmers feels that Perloo's expertise in history qualifies him to be her successor. However her son has other ideas and Perloo finds himself on the run, striving to prevent a war between the Montmers and their rivals. What bugged me about this book, is that it tries to be edgy- characters are threatened with death repeatedly, but halfway through you know nothing the least bit unpleasant is going to happen. And of course after an ending that will have even children rolling their eyes, the bad guys are humbled and everyone else learns to live in harmony. Blecch. It's too bad because there was some potential here. The sayings of Mogwart the Magpie were clever and the political maneuverings between Berwig and Senyous were welcome in a children's book. It just couldn't make up for the bland story. Although I wasn't especially impressed with Redwall it is miles better than this
Rating: Summary: Perloo the Bold: Good book, bad ending Review: Perloo, a bunny-ish creature called a Montmer, is a quiet guy who likes to hang out and read at home. But one day he is called out to fight in the Montmer army, which he really doesn't want to do. I liked this book a lot, although the ending was surprising in a bad sort of way. Stop HERE if you don't want me to give away the ending. Gone...? Yes? Good. Near the end of the book, Perloo becomes the "granter" of the Montmers. (The granter is sort of like the leader or one in charge.) This is the highest possible title. Instead of remaining the wisest granter the Montmers ever have (which in my opinion would be good), he resigns about five minutes after being appointed and says that there shouldn't be a granter, but everyone should contribute to what the society does. That is an okay ending, but personally, I would have liked it if he had remained granter, like I said before. But over all, a very good book. I recommend it to anyone who likes to read quiet, boring books. Yes, you heard me right! Go out there and read an exciting book for the quiet soul!
