Rating: Summary: Dull writing; trite characters; predictable plot Review: As a Silicon Valley guy, I was hoping for a good fictionalized account of how the valley works. Unfortunately, all I got was a rather thinly veiled portrayal of the Sculley/Jobs battle, rather poorly written. I didn't feel anything for any of them, and didn't see much depth or humanity in them. Even CEO's and marketing guys deserve better than this!
Rating: Summary: Entertaining at times, but pretty hackneyed overall. Review: I found this insider look at the soap-opera like actions of the corporate world to be an excellent read. I have often imagined it to be exactly as described and this only tends to confirm that thought!
Rating: Summary: Very Entertaining Review: Joe Hutsko recreates the real life power struggle of Apple's executives' officers in his latest book, The Deal. It is hard not to have Steve Jobs, John Scully, Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Intel, and the Wintel alliance in mind as you are reading this novel. Nevertheless, it is a very entertaining piece of reading. It surely beats any chessy soap opera shows on TV with its additional insider knowledge of the workings of Sillicon Valley's technology corporations. Many events in the story happen because of chance and coincidence, the typical elements in a conventional fiction plot. But if you are just looking for a time out and fun, this is it!
Rating: Summary: The Deal is very Seinfeld-esque!!! Review: Joe Hutsko's,The Deal, is a great book from the time you start reading the inside cover at the book store till the last page when you finish the book. The Deal is very Seinfeld-esque. Each character in the book is well defined and their stories are visited similar to the Seinfeld characters throughout the show. Joe perfectly brings all the characters together to a great finish. Just like Jason (other reviewer) and others say.....when is the movie coming out on this one? I can see Glenn Close playing Greta. Who would you cast in the other roles????
Rating: Summary: We all know about..."The Deal" Review: Okay, Joe, here we go. I'm not going to say how I acquired this book. Other than I did purchase it. I selected the novel among a stack of other books. First time author for this type of fiction novel. Sure, I'm interested. Let's see how well he writes. But.. let's not kid ourselves. The author had a cast of characters, a plot and everything needed for this novel. It wasn't a bad thing either. I read the book from start to finish and from what I can tell, Hutsko has the makings of a fine author. It's obvious he's living in the age of computers and fast living. My advice at this time to the observer of this review...go ahead and read Hutsko's novel, see what you think. I liked it. My advice to Joe Hutsko.... "you go, Joe." ;-)

Rating: Summary: Entertaining, good read! Review: The new author, Joe Hutsko, has written a very good first book. I would suspect he has a future in this business. The story line is that of 2 men who deal with thei abilities, demons and ambition. All of these human dilemmas focus around a computer company and the men and women who guide them. The love interests are nicely woven into the main plot and are central, not peripheral to it.All in all, an entertaining and well-written book.
Rating: Summary: this could be my new favorite author Review: This is a great read with a bang up ending.Joe Hutsko is the ultimate insider and takes you along for a non-stop ride.I will be waiting for the next book from this guy, he is GOOD!!!
