Summary: Good characters, but no fun to read!
Review:
I am a Nora Roberts fan, but I did not enjoy this book at all!

The three main characters were well drawn: tough cowboy Willa, glamourous screenwriter Tess, and sweet, abused Lily were likeable, as well as the men they fell for. I gave the book a star because of them.

However, and this is a big however, I HATED the parts in the book that deal with rape, sodomism, and the mutilation of animals/people!!! I wanted to warn anyone who is going to read this book that if scenes like that bother you, read no further! If you are a fan of Mary Higgins Clark, or another realistic suspense writer, then by all means, read this book. But if you are just looking for a good romance, skip it!!!

I finished the book because I wanted to find out if the main characters end up together, but I returned it to the library the day after I read it. It left a nasty feeling in my mind.

I know that Roberts is celebrated for her suspense thrillers, but this was my first experience with one of them. I am planning to steer clear of ALL of her thrillers, and stick with the cozy romances that don't make you recoil in disgust as you read them!

I know that many others enjoy this book (it was recommended very highly to me), but I am just stating my personal opinion. Pur society has to deal with issues such as wife beating, prostitution, etc. every day. When I read, I'd rather not be reminded of them!

Summary: Murder, Suspense, Humor, Romance... incredible!
Review: I went into reading this book, believing it would be a trilogy, as many of the Nora Roberts books I've read before have been. And in all honesty it could have been a trilogy, with everything in it, but it would have watered down the writing. This was an unbelievable book. There were so many different twists and turns, it kept me on my toes at all times. This is definitely one of my favorite books of the year, and as someone who reads alot, that's definitely no small feat for Nora Roberts. Roberts writes so clearly, and with so much description, you can picture yourself in the Montana outback in the Rockies, hunting down a serial killer in your mist, falling in love, and running a ranch. Willa was the best part of the book, a strong female character who in many ways was a little girl who at the beginning of the book still sought out her father's affection after his death, and at the end of the book, she was a woman, having grown. I loved every minute of it (and was up until 5am reading it! Couldn't put it down!) If this book isn't in your summer reading plans, change them!!

Summary: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
Review: Nora Roberts has done it again with MONTANA SKY. This is the story of three sisters brought together for the first time by their father's death. Each born from a different marriage, the sisters know nothing of one another, but are forced by their father's will to spend one year together on his ranch, Mercy, in order to receive their inheritance. We meet Willa, the only daughter who knew her bastard of a father, who was raised on the ranch. She immediately bucks heads with the oldest of the sisters, Tess, a sophisticated writer bent on receiving every penny she's entitled to even if she has to swallow her dignity and stay on the ranch. Then there's Lily, a shy and kind woman on the run from her violent ex-husband. We also meet the three gorgeous men who will change their lives, Ben, a man just as stubborn as the woman he wants which is Willa, Nate, the family's lawyer who's decided to make Tess his and gentle Adam, Willa's half-brother, who wants to free Lily from her past. Their lives are complicated even further when violent things begin to happen, first mutilated animals, then mutilated people. As the sisters begin to bond with each other and with the men in their lives, a killer is on the lose waiting to strike. MONTANA SKY is a fantastic read filled with suspense, murder, and three passionate loves. This book is worth your time and money. You'll love it. Trust me!

Summary: montana sky
Review: Ok, this was a good book, better than all the other Nora Roberts books I had read. But the summary said that this was a book about three sisters. The only sister I seemed to constantly read about was Willa. And she was not my favorite character in the book. She just didnt' appeal to me. In fact, none of the characters really appealed to me. They all fit into their own little categories: Willa, the neglected daughter who became a strong woman; Tess, the "typical" spoiled, wealthy California girl who cared more about money than family; Lily, the abused one who now has to be treated like a china doll. To be honest, Willa was too cynical for my taste and even towards the end, I couldn't figure out why Roberts chose to put this particular sister at the center of the storyline. Yes, it was "her" ranch, but I would have liked to see it becoming the story of the Mercy sisters, rather than the story of Willa. At times I just wanted to smack her for some of the things she did and said. It would have been a much better book if the story had been spread out among the three couples, rather than one. The only character I truly liked was Ben McKinnon. He was the only one, I thought, to have any personality. The others were not developed as they should be, not even Willa. Most of the characters who were supposed to make up this story were simply minor characters, when they should have been more at the center. Especially the two other male characters. Adam seemed to have no opinion of his own. Yes he was sensitive, but he was BORING! And Nate, poor guy! He basically could have been played by a tree throughout the book! And then suddenly at the end, he and Tess have their moment, which lasted, oh, half a page. I guess Roberts really hated Tess or something, b/c maybe 5 pages were devoted to her. We begin to see into her at the beginning, with the scene with Tess and her mother, but this quickly stops...as soon as that scene ends. In my honest opinion, Tess would have been a better match for Ben. At least she had some personality! I would have rathered reading about any of the two other couples than Willa and Ben! And I find that Roberts repeats herself. What happened to Ben at the end was identical to what happened Adam after Lily's rescue 100 pages before. They both distanced themselves from their respective SO's for the exact same reason. Nevertheless, this was a very good book, (despite my negative review). I couldn't put it down at the end, but it sorta ended abruptly. I highly recommend this book to anyone, just don't be fooled by what's written at the back of the book. :)

Summary: Hugh Nora Roberts Fan!!!
Review: This is the first Nora Roberts book I read. I purchased this book from a book club, picking it from the short caption about the story. I didn't read it for several months but when I did I was hooked on Nora Roberts. Nora Roberts can be very suspensefull writer and at the same time add romance to the mix. I love her books and have purchased and read 15-20 of them. I look forward to all her new releases as they are the best.

Summary: Best of Nora Roberts
Review: Wow. I am a huge fan of Nora Roberts, and 'Montana Sky' kept me there. I love this story. It is exactly what I wanted to catch myself in. The detail was awesome, the characters lovable, and the story unbeilievable. I am currently writting my own novel and even though I know I'll never, ever be as good as Ms. Roberts, I hope to be at least a quater... Anyway, this story was a beautiful one. I loved it. But, then again, there hasn't been a book by Nora Roberts that I don't like! Great story!

Summary: Wonderful
Review: Yes, the descriptions of animal cruelty are graphic and disturbing, but real life on a ranch, especially in Montana's wide-open spaces, is like that. There is evil all around; however, from the midst of evil comes serenity, security, love, friendship, loyalty, respect, etc. etc. Tess, Lily and Willa are wonderful characters who learn to respect each other as well as accepting their fate, and then learning to love. When life is too easy, we tend to take it for granted; but when you have to fight for what you have you gain inner strength and respect. This is a captivating story and had me entrigued from the very beginning. It was my first Nora Roberts in 1999, but definitely not my last.
