Summary: Beautiful text, a bit confusing
Review: I am using this text for a French class I am taking. When I first received the book, I was impressed with the beautiful illustrations and the information about France. Now that I am using it in a class I find that the speakers on the audiotapes go so rapidly that I often have to listen two or three times and then still do not always get what they are saying. I am not totally new to the language and can usually understand simple French if not too rapid. I also find the approach to grammar a bit confusing as it is not as systematic as I had thought it might be. Fortunately our intructor fills in the gaps for us in class. Without her guidance, I would not be getting that important information and would be a bit lost. If there were such a rating as 3 1/2 stars, that would be more what I would give this book.

Summary: Great Learning Tool
Review: I have been studying French serously for about 6 months and have tried several courses. This one is among the best and livliest. Although suitable for the beginner it will take you to the beginning of intermediate learning. The converstions are realistic and use common everyday topics.
