Summary: Connelly delivers a delious page-turning mystery w/Bosch
Review: I read this book in 24 hours. The book grabbed me in the 1st 2 pages. I loved this book because it has everything I think makes a good mystery. A character one can care about in Harry Bosch, a good story, and a mystery which is not what it seems. The book is a page turner. You may not be able to put it down because Connelly keeps the action moving. The story takes place over 48 hours which increases the already heightened tension. I was waiting for Connelly's new book because he always writes a good story. For those who are Harry Bosch fans, Connelly does not disappoint. If you are not a Connelly fan, after this book you will be.

Summary: Enough Riot Justification
Review: This is an excellent read, and I would have rated it 5 stars except for the constant justification by Connelly of why it's okay for any segment of the population to riot, loot, burn, destroy and kill, supposedly all in the name of anger and lack of hope. Baloney. The mystery, the excitement of the chase, the anticipation of the unraveling of clues all get constantly interrupted by Connelly's whining about why everyone should just accept the reasons for the animal-like behavior of the mob mentality. I realize the backdrop of riots was crucial to this book but not the shove-it-down-your-throat preaching that was a constant theme in this book. The media can justify that kind of behavior all they want--most of us don't buy it.

Summary: A tight police procedural...
Review: This is solid entry in the bosch series. It reads quickly and focuses almost exclusively on the case. Harry is not in control, but does solve a case that twists and turns. Kudos to Connelly for tackling the racial issues of LA and for complicating Harry's life again. Well done.
