Summary: This is an outstanding book EVERYONE should read !!!!!!
Review: Baby by Patricia MacLachlan is a great book that keeps you guessing until the end. Although it is sad, this book is exciting. Set on an island off of the coast of Maine. Larkin and Lalo find Sophie in an unusual way. Sophie, a baby, was left on a beach in a basket with only a small note to tell why. Larkin and her family are unsure if and when Sophie's mother will be back. If you like a book about any kind of mystery or puzzles Baby is the book for you.
Baby is a must read book everyone should read. This tale is sad, exciting and thrilling. Baby is an exciting book because they found a baby on the beach with just a small note. Sadness is at the heart when family members are lost. Finally Larkin and her family name the one-day-old brother William. This book is thrilling because Sophie remembers Larkin and her family after ten years. Baby is the right book for you if you like books with happy endings.
Children of all ages should read Patricia MacLachlan's books. Patricia lives in Williamsurg, Massachusetts. Patricia was born on a prairie and till this day she carries a bag of prairie dirt with her wherever she goes to remind her of what she first knew first. Sarah Plain and Tall won a Newbery Medal in 1985 and her writing still continues to be outstanding. As you can see Baby by Patricia MacLachlan is an excellent book for all readers.

Summary: This is an outstanding book EVERYONE should read !!!!!!
Review: I often pick up and read my 9 year old daughter's books, and am rarely moved by what I read. This book however will stay with me always. The first chapter had me hooked, with a surprisingly textured cast of warm, unusual characters. Extremely engaging, even within the first few lines. The family danced off the pages, and their struggles rang true. No gloss, just real stuff. Lucky young readers who are encouraged to befriend these characters.

Summary: Baby's Review
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I had read Cassie Binegar loved it also. I found the family in the story, totally loveable. The heroine and hero were sweet and very much like real people. I also loved the poetry that weaves itself in and out of the story.

I loved this book so much that when I finished it I read it over again. That I think is the best thing a person can say!

Summary: Classic, but very touching!
Review: I'd just finished reading Baby by Patricia MacLachlan. This book is about a twelve year old girl, named Larkin, found a baby in a basket near her house, with a note from its mother, said that she will coming back, one day. Larkin seem doesn't love the baby, but she had to get used to it. What will Larkin going to do? Will the baby's mother will come back for her? Find out by reading this great book.

I recommend this book to everyone, who like stories about family and love. A MUST READ BOOK for EVERYONE!

Summary: A emotional book about a baby who's left on a doorstep.
Review: In the emotionl book Baby Larkin, Mama, Papa, and Byrd the Grandmother find a baby girl on their doorstep. There was a note that said her name was Sophie. Papa says not to keep her but Mama wants her to stay. It turns out that Sophie stays. They taught her how to walk and talk. Find out how they handle her and if her mother comes back to get her.

My favorite part is when Sophie wears her rubber boots everywhere. She even slept in them.

If you have read Sarah Plain and Tall and loved it I suggest you read Baby. It's happy and sad, but there are funny part too! The beginning is a little hard to understand, but it gets clearer and more interesting in the middle

Summary: A good book about a baby who gets left on Larkin's driveway.
Review: One day when twelve year oold Larkin returns to her house, there is a baby in a basket sitting in their driveway. Along with the baby there was a note that said, "This is Spohie. She is almost one year old and she is good..... I will come back for her one day. I love her." So Larkin, her mother and father, and her grandmother, Byrd, take Sophie into their family. Sophie grows, walks, and learns to talk. Larkin's family starts treating Sophie as a famliy member. Larkin, her parents, and Byrd start wondering if Sophie's mother will ever come back for her. And if she does, when? My favorite part is when Sophie always wears or brings her red boots everywhere. I also like the part when Lalo, Larkin's friend, goes with Larkin's family somewhere and he comes out of his house wrapped in thick wool. If you like books about babies and books that have little excitment, I would reccomend this book to you. However, the book is a little hard to follow, but it does have some pretty strange things in it. If you liked the Book Sarh, Plain and Tall, you may also like this book
