Rating: Summary: Not As Funny As I Had Hoped Review: I first saw Kate Clinton on "Out Loud and Laughing" and found her extremely hilarious. I found her topics in her comedy to be something I could really relate to, as well as her dry, sarcastic wit that was applied to every single comment, almost as sinful as buttered popcorn. I had been looking forward to this book for a long, long time.Imagine my surprise when I read the book and hardly laughed, but more importantly, had to FORCE my way to get to the end. It was a difficult read not because of the language or the topics, but because I didn't care about what she had to say. It seemed too wordy, as if there wasn't any real point she was trying to make, but that she had to fulfill her 60,000 word contract deal. I had better hopes for Ms. Clinton's book and hope that if she releases another one, she has a goal in mind; namely, a point.
Rating: Summary: Funny as Kate Review: I frequently laughted out loud when reading the book...just as I do when I see Kate do stand up. I do wish she had focused more on autobiographical info. Also...have to add...when Kate was on Rosie WHY was the "L" word never mentioned when promoting the book??
Rating: Summary: Funniest Person on Earth Review: If you like lesbian and gay humor you are in for a treat. Kate will keep you laughing from the first word until the last word of this book. Laughter is the best medicine.
Rating: Summary: Funny and truthful, it makes you nod your head "yes". Review: This book is a sharp, witty, all too true, account of what the world looks like today. Kate goes right to the root of the problem, no matter who it is and holds them up to all of us for inspection. She has an excellent, quick wit that goes right to your funny bone but I found myself identifying with her frustrations with politicians and I experienced deja vue when she recounted parts of her catholic upbringing. I always want her on my side. We should all be so eloquent in exposing the real issues. Of course, lots of the book gives us a glimpse of what makes Kate "kate" and that's even more fun. Miss "Hillarity Clinton" does it again! The book will make you laugh till your sides hurt, but, then you will start to THINK , too.
