Summary: the best read not enough praise
Review: i loved this story knowing was good but this one was excellent the story was so good. i read this book maybe 6 years ago and i still tell people to buy it.i have read all of her books and they were good but this was awesome!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Brilliant, Well Written, A must read Masterpiece
Review: I read Knowing and that was good but this was truly ONE BETTER. I laughed, cried, mourned, rejoiced (and argued)with every character. I couldn't put it down (nor did I want to). I was moved to tears by the tragedy, love and bonds of friendship.I think there's a little bit of Spice,Carmen,Sterling and Mink in all of us. This book let me know that no one is perfect, we all make mistakes, have regrets and its OKAY. God Bless You Rosalyn McMillan. (You did your sister proud)Terri is a wonderful writer in her own right but you did your thing (You GO Girl) I can't wait for the next one. I'll be waiting patiently.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Slow at first but definitely gets better
Review: I read Knowing years ago and I really, really enjoyed it. Rosalyn is a great writer. She is not of the new age writings where there are many typos. Her writings are comparable to her sister Terri Mcmillan. Excellent writing well done. The story starts off real slow but it picks up and is a tearjerker in the end. The story is about Spice and her two children Mink and Sterling. It is about how Spice works herself out of poverty and tries to show her children how to always be one better. Even though Spice worked so hard for her children to have a better life Sterling never seems to get things right. This is a must read.

Summary: Soap Opera Drama
Review: Okay, the reason I really read this book, because I must say, when I saw it in the book store, and saw the characters' names - Spice, Mink, and Sterling, I was not at all intersted in reading it, but my friend said that it was just great, and leant it to me, so I read it. And upon reading it, I found myself laughing incredulously at the very unrealistic situations that the characters were involved in. I mean, of course, I'm one of the people that sincerely wishes that I could have it like that, but come on - how many people do you know that are involved in all that and rich and successful to boot? I know a few - I see them all the time - on 'One Life To Live'..

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great book. The characters are like people in my family.
Review: One Better was a refreshing read. The characters were three-dimensional, which made them very realistic. The scenes in the restaurant that Spice Witherspoon were so descriptive that I had to keep making trips to the kitchen. My favorite character was Sterling. She seemed so sad. I was rooting for her to kick her drug problem and kick her co-dependent boyfriend Bennie to the curb. I can't wait until Ms. McMillan's next novel comes out because I finished this one in two days.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: It ain't all good - but then again It ain't all bad
Review: This book seems to be recieving a lot of bad reviews. I think that's mainly because people tend to judge and compare "individuals" with other people. In this case Rosalyn to her sister Terry. It's clear their writing styles are different. I felt left out of the book when I first started reading. By time I reached the last page and read the last word, I had to admit - the book is pretty good. With a little more emotion (tears) in each character the book would have been better. And although there is more to life than sex - One better has the "bomb diggity love scences" * If u want Terry buy her book. This writer is trying to be herself.
