Summary: Great Fun, but the lesser book in the series!
Review: All of the Shopaholic books are great but this one was not as good as the others. Don't get me wrong it is still worth reading and leaves the impression that there is more to come but it simply does not compare to the first three books.

Becky is even more out of control than ever in this installment of the series, when she meets her long lost half sister, who happens to HATE shopping. Becky with her overwhelming desire to be the best sister ever (because she was always an only child) tries so hard to get her new sister (who happens to be everything Becky is not) to be her best friend. The usual hilarity that comes with Becky insues and Kinsella once again provides her reader with great fun and laughs.

Ending gives the impression that there is more of Becky's life to come... can't wait for another book in this great series.

Summary: Tired and Sad story of a Selfish Brat
Review: Becky, Becky. When will you ever learn? By the end of all the previous novels, Becky has come to a realization that shopping is not the most important thing out there. These lessons, however, are forgotten by the start of the next novel.
This episode is as trite and silly as the previous novels, however, Becky has begun to seriously get on my nerves. Behaviour that she considers cute is actually very immature and selfish. I find it very difficult to believe that a man like Luke could ever fall in love and marry a silly, flighty twit like Becky. She takes being spoiled to a new level, and she is so selfish and self involved that it boggles the mind. She is amazed that her new sister Jess is not more grateful for all the effort made when Jess comes for a visit. Well, if Becky would actually crawl out of herself for a while and actually notice other people and their feelings, it would have been obvious that her sister had different interests.
Becky is also a first rate liar, which she demonstrates again and again to her husband and family. We are supposed to believe that someone that is this dishonest has a good marriage. Would YOU want to be married to such a liar?
Becky is also shallow, and wrapped up in herself. Could you imagine her ever doing anything for charity? Not likely!
Finally, we are left with the ending where it is likely that Becky is pregnant. God help that child! A good mother is not someone who is as selfish as Becky.
I find it truly sad that Becky is held up as some kind of hero. God knows there are millions of people drowning in debt with scads of stuff they don't need. Do we need a character like Becky to encourage people?

Summary: She does it again
Review: I enjoyed reading this book as others from the author. "Becky, character in these books are just too funny'. People would catch me laughing out loud in public places as I couldn't put it down. Becky, is Becky and she will always be clever and ideal in her way, in her world.

Summary: Wonderful addition to the series!
Review: I immediately started reading this book when I received it in the mail and finished it in about 3 hours. I have the other books from the series and loved them all as well. This latest addition is any better than the others, but a great continuation of the trials and tribulations of Becky Bloomwood-Brandon. The author, Sophie Kinsella, once said in an interview how much she missed Becky and that's why she wrote a fourth book. As soon as I started reading I realized I felt the same way! Becky is such a wonderful character and anyone can relate to her, even if you don't like to shop! Everyone has their own flaws they can never seem to get over, but they still have those wonderful people in their lives who still love them in spite of it all!
Anyone who is reading this has hopefully already read the synopsis of the book. As you know, Becky has found out she has a long lost half sister who is her complete opposite and everything of course goes downhill. She also begins having problems with her husband and best friend to boot!
This is of course highly recommended for fans of the other three Shopaholic books and fans of chick lit in general. I dont' want to give away the end, but from what I can tell I hope Ms. Kinsella is getting busy on book #5! :)

Summary: Horrible - (...)
Review: I thought this book was horrible - I liked the first 3 books in the series, but this one was horribly written and the main character - who had previously been charming and loveable - in this book became a shallow, pretentious "cow" like her erstwhile nemesis Alicia "Bitch-Long Legs". I can't believe she never learned anything from getting herself into trouble with her spending - but I suppose this is because Luke keeps bailing her out. I was amazed that Luke wasn't ready to divorce her after the purchases arrived from their 10-month 5-star-hotel trip around the world - a trip that would cost most people their life savings. When Jess - an annoying character herself - tries to talk some sense into Becky, Becky's response is just to say "Well, nevermind." And go shopping again. She goes to visit Jess to get help when she believes her marriage is in "tatters" because of her excessive spending and the first thing she does is to go into a shop and start buying stuff she doesn't need.
The book became more painful to read with each chapter. I wanted to reach through the book and smack some sense into Becky a couple times when she kept doing the same thing again and again and again. In the first three books, she makes mistakes but she learns from them. In this book, it's like she never learned anything from her past mistakes of going out and buying more stuff when she's upset. What made Becky likeable in the previous books had been her naivete and charm, but in this book she comes across as extremely shallow and only concerned with money and material possessions. What a disappointment.

Summary: Dont Waste Your Time
Review: I tried to love this book, I really did, but I just couldnt. Sophie Kinsella could have gone soooo many diffrent ways with the newlywed phase of Becky's life and chose to go THIS way? It started out pretty good, but lost me quite quickly. I had great hopes, since I -ADORE- the first three books, but this one failed to live up to its' predecessors. Maybe I had too high of hopes for this part of Bex's life, but if I were you, I'd skip this book.

Summary: Another Becky pleasure
Review: I'm not one to follow trends, so I came to the Shopaholic series late. Actually, I practically read them all back to back in about a month. "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" remains my favorite, but "Shopaholic & Sister" is still very enjoyable, especially if you already count yourself as one of Becky's fans. If you're new to the series, I suggest you start with the first one, "Confessions of a Shopaholic." Also, more great novels I've loved lately:

"The Big Love"
"Little Earthquakes"
"What to Keep"
"A Secret Word"

Summary: Bex is Back and She's Still Got It!
Review: Saw this book at Costco and squeeled with delight. I had no idea that Kinsella had written another saga of Becky Bloomwood, and I was so excited to read it. It picks up right were "Shopoholic Ties the Knot" leaves off. Great Light and Fun Read.

Summary: Just shopping around and found a great book!
Review: SHOPAHOLIC AND SISTER is one of the best things I've read all year. Becky and Luke Brandon , newly wed of England's well known sales rep, have just returned from their year-round honeymoon around the world. Becky is obsessed with shopping and throughout their whole honeymoon she hid her credit cards balances because she maxed them all out. Luke had no clue how much she spent until they got home and they had tucks full of souvenirs. Luke was irate and if that didn't complicate their perfect marriage enough. Becky found out that she had a long lost sister , Jessica . Jessica and Becky were two totally different people. Jessica is very frugal and Becky throws money around like it grows on trees. Luke and Jessica became quick friends and that upset Becky very much. During one of Becky and Luke's arguments, Becky heard Luke tell Jessica it was very hard to live with Becky and she wished she was more like her. Everybody's life's were changing except Becky's. She didn't know what to do so while Luke was away on a business trip; Becky went to Jessica's house to learn from her (assuming that was what Luke wanted). Little did she know that Jessica would want nothing to do with her. Becky tried and tried for Jessica to understand her. She even climbed up a mountain in the pouring rain to show her love for her sister. While Becky was climbing the mountain, she fell and broke her leg. Jessica was there to support her. Waiting for someone to rescue them, Jessica found out that her and Becky had a lot in common and became good friends. Also try CHILDREN'S CORNER by the author Jackson McCrae for a really interesting read.

Summary: Guess Who's Back...
Review: There's no other character like Becky Bloomwood! This 4th installment to the Shopaholic series leaves readers happy and begging for more- at least I am!

In this book we find Becky & Luke finishing up on their honeymoon- arriving home with much more than they took- thanks to Becky's shopping. Coming back home is a bit of a downer for Becky though as her best friend has a new friend, her parents are acting weird and Luke has thrown himself back into his work. And once Becky finds out why her parents are acting strange- that she has a long-lost half sister...things don't improve much for her. While she tries everything she can do to get close to the sister she never had, it's obvious that they have nothing in common & are complete oppisites. They don't even get along...

I really loved this book. Kinsella always does a wonderful job of bringing new characters & situations into each book that keep the story interesting & enjoyable to the very last page. And the very last page has a great surprise that has me anxious to read the next installment. If you haven't read this series- you have to run out to the store & buy them all, this is an excellent series that's a lot of fun. Enjoy!
