Review: And i have read a lot! I am a full-time mother of very active three-year-old twin boys. My mother was a yeller and I swore I would not parent that way. However, once the boys hit two I found myself beginning to fall into that pattern. If I didn't yell or vent, I carried around anger at them which spilled over to my husband when he came home from work. I wanted nothing more than to escape from my life and even considered going back to work even though I really wanted to raise my own children. This book didn't just tell me what to do in a certain situation, it gave me a change of perspective. Now I can figure out on my own what to do before I get angry. Both of my boys are responding beautifully and we have a lot more fun together than ever before. There is also a lot more affection between all of us. BUY THIS BOOK!

Summary: Practical Wisdom for raising great kids!!
Review: Dr. Leman's humor and common biblical based sense makes this book a great book for mom and dad, educators and ministers. I have also taught the video series with the same name and it is wonderful, everyone enjoyed it. I just wish it was around when my kids were small. They will be getting a copy for their children. With topics like Becoming the parent God wants you to be, reality discipline and let the little buzzards tumble, Dr. Leman is on the top of my recommended list!

Review: I am not a reader, however, this book has the right ingredients to keep even the less than casual reader engaged. I cannot say that I am a great parent, but this book helps you gage how well you are doing as a parent. It's a good feeling to know that someone has the same feelings about the parenting approach that you are and is doing well with their children. However this book suggests that we as parents seek help from other parents to help improve our skills. Also, this book, however religious in tone, is not overly religious. Mr. Leman uses references from the Bible as well as provides quotes, but the whole book doesn't linger on it. I don't feel that their additions would offend a person. Great book to read for a parent to assist them in their life long investment as well as a means to see how you feel you are doing as a parent.

Review: I can't thank Kevin Leman enough for his wisdom and insight. I feel incredibly fortunate to have come across this book as well as it's author - I plan on purchasing another, "Bringing up kids without Tearing them Down..." Parenting is sooo hard if you try to figure it out alone but Leman makes it super simple and what better standard than the one set forth by God. I am a far better parent having read this book. My perspective of my role has completely changed and is much healthier, happier, and comfortable. And it's so simple! Thank you Kevin Leman for writing this book - the ONLY book necessary for properly raising our children.

Summary: Great book!
Review: I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of practical examples to use besides just talking about how to handle certain situations in theory only. Of course most of the things he suggests really are common sense. Unfortunately most people get so wrapped up with trying to keep their kids happy that they forget common sense sometimes or prefer to take the easy way out and let their kids get away with murder. I highly recommend this book for the christian family looking for smart ways to help guide them in parenting their children.

Review: I keep having to buy new copies of this book. People borrow it and then tell their friends to read it, and the cycle continues until the book disappears again. As long as people are reading it and learning from it, I'll keep buying new copies. It should be in every home with children. Kevin Leman is a wonderful author with a great sense of humor!

Summary: Yeah for Dr. Leman!!!
Review: I love parenting books because they are always full of good ideas, even if you don't necessarily agree with everything in the book. THIS book, however, was fantastic. I'm a pretty easy-going person, so as long as their safety wasn't at risk, I would generally allow my kids to have way too many liberties.

Dr. Leman describes pulling the rug out from under the little buzzards. If a child begins whining about dinner, then simply throw dinner down the garbage disposal and excuse the child from the table.

Yikes, that seemed a little harsh to me, but I felt as though my little ones had way to much control over me, so I gave it a try. WOW. It worked.

He also discusses the necessity of making your relationship with your spouse a priority. The best gift you can give your children is a strong marriage! And they will feel more secure going through life with parents who show love and respect to one another.

I'm a huge fan of Kevin Leman now. I can't wait to read what else he's written!
