Rating: Summary: A Very Useful Book, But You May Still Need a Pro Review: A Very Useful Book, But You May Still Need a Pro Reviewer: siddheartha from Warren, MI USA This is a very good book about boundaries. Yes, it is steeped in Christianity. If you are a Christian, that is a very big plus and will make this book even more helpful. However, if you are not, you can still get great value from this book. This book will teach, giving examples, about building appropriate boundaries in your marriage. If you are not married you can still prepare. Starting with good, strong boundaries will help you pick a better mate (for you), and make for a stronger marriage, too. If you are in a troubled marriage, it may be difficult to use this book. If the good will in the marriage has headed south, get a marriage counselor who is familiar with the book and willing to help you both build better boundaries. Those with good boundaries are the happiest people. Good luck! Enjoy. Oh, why not 5 stars? It is a well-written book. The examples are mostly useful. And as much as I like the reliance on Christian values, the book leans on them too much. It is a very subjective thing. So I can understand most people give 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Common sense processes that aren't so obvious after all Review: At first, this book seemed simplistic, but on further reflection is quite practical. I also liked that it has references to scripture and articulates Christian values in a clear way (rather than saying do this "because it's right", the book tells you where in the Bible the issue is addressed). It also points out the need for shared values - no relationship will last without them.
Rating: Summary: Don't get married without reading it. Review: I believe this book is an excellent gift to give as an engagement present or shower gift, but it needn't stop there. I have been married for over 35 years and there are practicals in the book which I never learned to use or stand up to. It is never too late to learn and knowledge based on Biblical principals is hard to deny. I wish I had the book thirty-six years ago.

Rating: Summary: It did not help me. Review: I had trouble understanding what the boundaries concept is and how to implement it. I have since read works by Eric Berne, William Glasser and Albert Ellis which were straightforward and very helpful.
Rating: Summary: Excelent.. Review: I've been married for over 11 years and I found this book to be a great find. Both Cloud and Townsend have done a great job giving great advice.
Rating: Summary: Boundaries in Marriage Review: If you are contemplating marriage, married for a few years, or thinking of re-marrying, this book is for you. As long as you have the basic foundation, Love, this can be your guide to "happily ever after." Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend do an excellent job of "talking" to you through this book. And their use of couples' examples lets you sit back and do an inventory of yourself: "Whoa, do I do that?" We have 4 children and I'm getting Boundaries With Kids next!

Rating: Summary: Hard Read Review: The authors of this book need to get out of the physco-babble and into an english class. While the concepts of the book are sound (and helpful), it is often difficult to get past their poor english to the points they are attempting to make. Be prepared to wade through the unnecessary words.
