Rating: Summary: I read this one out of morbid curiosity Review: What I saw was a person who knows very little about history and makes the assumption that anyone who doesn't share ANN COULTER'S morbid worldview is not only un-American, but treasonous.
I suggest that anyone who actually believes her dribble also read the "I Hate Ann Coulter....Reader." They will see just how little truth and accuracy mean to Ann Coulter and just how warped she is.
This book ranks right up there with the publications Joseph Goebbels came up with for the Reich of his boss. Thank goodness, we only have four more years of "Das Reich" of this second Bush.
Rating: Summary: You Go Girl!! Review: While I did not necessarily agree with all the contents of this volume, I must say that much of what Ann describes seemed to hit the nail on the head. She has certainly sparked my interest in the espionage of the Cold War era to the point where I am geared up for a full blown research project myself.
The underlining theme of the work is how certain leaders/people in the 'liberal left' since the beginning of the Cold War (late 40's early 50's) have misguided intentionally, or perhaps unintentionally, certain facts about their actions, policies, or have sacrificed in one form or fashion America's security.
She gives some pretty strong evidence from newly formulated works that have surfaced since the fall of Communism in the Soviet Union. The lynch pen being the Venona files/project - these can be viewed and researched at the NSA's web site, or you can actually chase Ann's sited sources. Either way, they reveal that much of what Joe McCarthy had claimed was in fact correct.
I disagree with some of what Ann claimed about Truman. It was during his administration that Alger Hiss was convicted. However, Hiss was never indicted fully on charges of being a communist operative/spy, and at this point perhaps Ann may have a case.
Her chapter on 'Celebrity Traitors' is hilariously funny and I think hits the mark quite accurately. I have personally seen and heard certain celebrities, whom Ann mentions, say things about certain American politicians and policies that clearly demonstrate they do not know what they are talking about at all.
This is at least a book to be reckoned with. It needs some attention from both camps (i.e. liberals and conservatives) since it seems that both camps have done their fair share of wrong and attempted to cover it up. As a well educated individual I am fed up with lies that hear from both political parties. If anything, Ann's book should spark an interest in further research in her claims. If it does not then perhaps you should move to warmer weather and let your brain thaw out. Thanks for the book Ann!!!
