Review: I never used to read romance novels until one of my friends handed me "A Knight in Shining Armor", by Jude Deveraux, and now I'm hooked! This is definately one of those books that you just can't put down, keeps you reading into the wee hours of the morning! One of her best!

Summary: Kept my interest
Review: This is my first J Deveraux book. The begining was hard to put up with. I hated for the heroine to be so weak of character. However, as the story progressed, I was able to experience her change step by step until she became a strong and confident woman. This is a story of hope and love that surpasses all barriers of time. I also enjoyed the small bits of historical fact regarding everyday living in Elizabethan times. For a time travel story, it was an enjoyable one. I'll probably be buying more Deveraux novels...

Summary: Best of the Best!
Review: I passed on buying this book a couple of times as I had never read anything by Devereaux. However I was pulled in by the genre and story line. I adore time travel books! It was one of the best decisions I made since buying 'Outlander'by Diana Galbadon. This book was OUTSTANDING! ABSOLUTELY! Run, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and get a copy - it's a keeper! The beauty of the story line remained pure and true throughout the book. Ms. Devereaux's prose was exquisite; her sense of pacing (timing) kept me turning the pages until the very wee hours of the morning. This is a tender and poignant love story with a twist; the main characters are well developed and one was never at a loss as to who's who etc. The time travel elements(he in ours & she in his) were entertaining but also one could sense the anxiety of the characters as they tried to cope with the unfamiliar. The intrigue of Nicholas' time (during Elizabeth 1's reign) is well presented. The 'bad guy' and his daughter are the perfect 'villains'. I cheered for Douglass when she finally finds her backbone & learns to stand up for herself! Parts of this book will make you cry & laugh in turns. The love these two people felt for each other jumps off the pages & wraps you in a beautiful cocoon. My heart hurt for them both during their seperations, but the ending was worth it! This book I will read again...and again...

Summary: An immortal love story
Review: I was curious about this book since I've read so many fantastic reviews about it. I couldn't find a new copy of it in bookstores since its been published a long time ago. But luckily I found it in a second hand bookstore. I bought it, finished reading it in a day and totally fell inlove with the story. Its the kind of book that you never get tired off and you want to read over and over again. I haven't found a book yet that could top this one. It makes me hope and wanna fall inlove. I absolutely love it.

Summary: I laughed, cried, and learned
Review: As a high school English teacher, take my advice--get this book! I am lucky enough to say that Knight in Shining Armor was my first romance novel I ever read. A friend recommended it to me about 8 years ago and it was such a wonderul story, I thought I would love romance novels from then on. Unfortunately, I was disapointed because every romance novel I attempted to read just never really measured up. There is no cheese in this story. Deveraux's prose are so much more beautiful and without cliche despite its cliche title. Definitely the best romance novel I ever read and possibly even one of the best books I've ever read because it is so much more than an incredible romance.

Summary: Best of All TIME!
Review: This was one of the first romances I ever read and I find that it is still my favorite after 10 years of devoted romance readership. This book, filled with adventure, heartbreak, love, loyalty, time-travel, humor, and intelligence, is one of the most deftly told and engaging works of fiction I have read.

The heroine, Douglas, is gutsy and smart, vulnerable but strong enough to fight and survive. The Hero, Nicholas, is strong and arrogant but altogether charming and lovable. I fell in love with them both and still enjoy the intracay of their romance after too many readings to count. Jude Deveraux is the Master. A must read and a keeper for All WOMEN!!

Summary: One of the Best Romances I Have Ever Read
Review: I bought "A Knight in Shining Armor" yesterday evening on a whim, not knowing the author or anything about the story - and I was immediately sucked into reading it, so much that I wouldn't leave this book for anything, not to eat, go to the bathroom, or even sleep until I finished it around 1 am this morning. Then, instead of falling right asleep, I stayed up another hour just going over this book in my mind. It was simply incredible. I've only read one other time-traveling romance before, and that was "Until Forever" by my favorite romance author Johanna Lindsey. I had thought "Until Forever" was pretty good, but now I realize it simply sucks in comparison to "A Knight in Shining Armor." In fact, if I compared the two books to desserts, "Until Forever" would be a gingerbread cookie while "A Knight" would be a steaming chocolate soufflé drizzled in hot chocolate and topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream. It was that yummy!

The medieval hero, Nicholas, was amazing! It was the little affectionate things he did that had me ga-ga over him, like how he planted Dougless (the heroine) with a joyously sweet kiss once he tasted ice cream for the first time. Dougless was also fun; she didn't behave predictably and had personality quirks and clever come-backs that I had never really seen before in a romance novel heroine. They didn't immediately become lovers, but I liked that so much, because it made me crazy anticipating when they finally would - and when they did, all I can say is WOW! I had to reread what I was reading to make sure I had really read that.

For all my glowing praise, the book is not 100 percent perfect. The first chapter describing Dougless' relationship with her boyfriend Robert and his bratty kid seemed over the top to the point where I started smirking, thinking the book was going to be totally lame. Some of the women's lib stuff also felt forced. But thank God I don't always go with first impressions! I might have put this jewel down and not enjoyed a witty, magical story full of fascinating detail about medieval life and celebrating a love that spanned 400 years.

I am most definitely going to start reading Jude Deveraux now!
