Summary: Whew...Send me a Knight in Shining Armor like this....
Review: Everyone was on me to read this book saying how touching and romantic is was and I have to say, they were right. Ms. Deveraux has a knack for getting to the heart of pure romance and in this book, she goes beyond expectation.
The characters were real and the time-travel was very realistic. Proving dreams and wishes can come true, only if you believe...

1988 England, Dougless Montgomery(distantly related to her Velvet book characters) is alone and weeping on a cold tombstone in an English church. Abandoned and left to fend for herself she cries her heart out and wishes for a knight in shining armor to come and save her. Suddenly like a ghost, a man appears before her looking very...confused? Why does this gorgeous man look confused and why is he wearing clothes obviously from a costume shop?

Nicholas Stafford, Earl of Thornwyck is confused...where is he? Last he knew he was praying in a church in 1564 and now he is standing in the same church, but everything seems different and he is looking at his own tombstone! He sees the woman, obviously she has called him from the past to do some evil deed for her, for she must be a witch.
Vowing to help this man since she somehow was responsible for his appearance, Dougless promises to make things right again. Her life is messed up beyond repair anyway, she is stuck in England for a month on 'vacation' abandoned by her boyfriend, so she is depressed and alone. Why not help this guy out?
Dougless soons finds out it isn't that easy. Nicholas needs to right a wrong in order to return to the past...
Nicholas shows Dougless that love is all-consuming and that she is special and deserves to be cherished. But time is running out for them...he must return. Can they live without each other?
Nicholas was a true Knight in Shining Armor.
I liked the first half of the book the best, lots of extremely touching and romantic and heart-tugging scenes. I sighed and cried and smiled many times. Definately a keeper.

Summary: The one that got me hooked
Review: I was looking for a new romance book to read when my hand fell on this book. After reading the back cover, I thought to myself this one should be interesting. I'd never read a time travel book before. This book passes interesting and goes to amazing.

It begins in modern times with the female lead traveling to England with her boyfriend and his spoiled daughter. After being abandoned by those two, she has hit rock bottom. She cries for help at the foot of a statue. I thought the first few pages were difficult to get through. Then, the hero, Nicholas, appears and I was glued. He was pompous, arragant, and gorgeous. He also needed help. There's the catch...Douglass ends up helping him. While she's helping him in the 20th century, he's teaching her that she's stronger than she thinks. The way Ms. Deveraux writes makes the story easy to follow. I could literally "SEE" the characters, the places and the clothing. I really understood the female lead, Douglass Montgomery. I felt her dissapointments and cheered at her successes. I also cried when she felt the utter dispair at not being with her love or feeling depressed at who she is. I've never cried while reading a book, but this one is very believable. Then Douglass travels back to Nicholas' time. This was my favorite part of the whole story. We also get to see what life was like in Elizabethean times from the class distinctions to how families deal with one another. Douglass must warn Nicholas of dangers that will happen to him and his brother before she's returned to her time. They get to fall in love all over again.

By the end of the story, Douglass grows and becomes the woman she's always dreamed of being. It ended on a positive note which left me wanting more. When my eyes finally gave out and I had to rest them, I looked at the clock...it was almost dawn. This book got me hooked into Ms. Deveraux's other romances and I'm proud to be a fan. Every book of hers that comes out, I immediately buy and devour and have NEVER been dissapoointed.

Summary: Love This Book
Review: A Knight in Shining Armor is a classic time-travel romance. It's one of the best. It is a book I've purchased and read a handful of different times. Can't get enough too much of this book. I even recommended it to a man, and he enjoyed it. It's a wonderful love story, and the history is so well crafted that it seems believable. I expect I could go to England and find information on the Staffords, and see those places. The characters seem that real. The fun times juxtaposing the time periods is what makes this book so special. And of course, though it has been years, I enjoy the Montgomery family stories.

Summary: What a Fantastic Book!
Review: Although this book has been out for 5 years I just learned about it and picked it up in my local book store. It is one of the best books I've read in a long time.

Dougless Montgomery comes from the famous Montgomery family. She met a successful doctor, Robert, who doesn't want a commitment, however, Dougless and Robert decide to plan a trip to England a year from the day the move in together. Then, they will decide if they want to marry.

On their way to the airport for their long awaited trip to England, Robert says he has a surprise for Dougless. At the airport, her dreams are squashed when Robert's daughter Gloria shows up and she turns out to be a most obnoxious child that Robert indulges sinfully.

While the three of them are visiting a church, Dougless and Gloria get into an argument. Robert, of course, sides with his daughter and they leave Dougless stranded at the church in the country without her money or passport. Douglass goes into the church and cries on the tomb of Nicholas Stafford, the Earl of Thornwyck. Suddenly he appears out of sixteenth century England. At first Douglass doesn't believe that he's from the sixteenth century. She finds his way of dress strange, his talk ridiculous and the fact that he doesn't know what a car is or how to use the bathroom is strange as well. Eventually Nicholas convinces Douglass and the two set to finding out who set Nicholas up for treason in Elizabethan times.

Finding no answers, Nicholas resigns himself to stay in the 20th century and acknowledges that Douglass is the love of his life. Suddenly Nicholas is taken back in time. Douglass is at a loss, but she is determined to find the answers to clear his name. Then Douglass is taken back in time to 1560 and finds herself at Nicholas's home, although Nicholas does not remember her.

Douglass must win over Nicholas's trust to change history again, knowing that once it is changed she will be dragged back to the twentieth century.

Summary: One of the most memorable books I've ever read
Review: I read the book when it was first out (1995?) and haven't forgotten it in detail yet! I loved the evoluation of the Knight's transference from a knight of his own time to a modern day man (picked up by looking at his daily habits; how those habits slowly changed to a more modern sensitive man). I adored the character portrayed in the heroine. The two were a perfect match. I laughed THROUGHOUT the first half of the book. About midway I began to sniffle. When I finished, I sobbed so hard I was afraid of waking my husband (3 a.m.). Any book that can make me laugh AND cry certainly is worth reading and remembering. It is absolutely one of the most memorable books I have ever read. Give Ms. Deveraux a hand for such realistic, loveable characters. Wish she would write more about the ones she used in this particular book. I look forward to rereading the book in later years (I still remember it too well to reread it right now). You don't forget this book!

Summary: An unforgettable story
Review: This was a thoroughly enchanting read. I normally don't read romance novels but discovered this book through a cousin of mine when it first came out. I've since reread it once or twice. If you are looking for a love story that is both light and thought-provoking, then read this. It had its sad and joyous moments and the hero and heroine are both as spirited as they come. It makes a good 'beach read' but has a little something extra that makes it an unforgettable story. Extremely appealing.

Summary: read this book if you believe in love!
Review: Wow!! I usually don't read time travel books because the idea is just too hard to believe for me, but this book changed my mind. Nicholas is a knight from the 16th century who is called to modern day by a heartbroken Dougless Montgomery. They fall in love while trying to find clues in order to change history. I loved the characters. Nicholas made me laugh and cry throughout the entire novel. Towards the end it was mostly tears. This book will make you believe in soumates and love that spans time and space. Go read it!!!

Summary: Ever wished you could change history?
Review: This is a great book in all its detail and imagination. I can say this is one of the first romances I have read that was not predictable - I truly did not know how this one would end. Nicholas and Dougless truly have a spiritual and soulful "connection" that spans time and cultures. I just didn't feel emotionally wrapped up in this story, however. I don't know. It was a great story, kept me in suspense, I loved the relationship between the characters. But I just didn't feel involved with them. The last chapters of the book were the best, though, for that was when the emotion was garnered for me as we learn how the destiny of these two lovers unfolds.
