Rating: Summary: Angel does fall... Review: This was actually the first novel by Kristin Hannah that I read; but since then I have read IF YOU BELIEVE, ON MYSTIC LAKE, WAITING FOR THE MOON, and ONCE IN EVERY LIFE. I thought ANGEL FALLS was an okay at first; however, since reading the previous mentioned novels, [this one didn't strike me as the best of them all]. Yes, the characters are as vivid and tangible as the characters in her other novels, but the plot...the plot is contrived and falls flat by the end of the book. The story is simple--Mikaela Campbell falls into a coma after an accident, and her husband, Liam comes to realize that his devoted and saintly wife was actually married to one of the most famous actors on the planet, Julian True. Julian is called upon to help revive Mikaela, and the story takes some interesting twists and turns... Some parts of the book acutally made me think I was reading a script for the movie of the week on the LIFETIME channel. There is a shameless plug in the novel about ON MYSTIC LAKE being screened in Hollywood... Like I mentioned before, I think Kristin Hannah is a wonderful writer and her stories are fully-developed and emotional, but this one is not. I will re-read her other novels, but ANGEL FALLS has already been placed on the shelf to collect dust.
Rating: Summary: Heart wrenching and a break from the norm... Review: This was my first book by Kristin Hannah and I must say that I was shocked and amazed. She has an incredible raw talent that shines in this book. _Angel Falls_ is by no means a conventional "romance" story... infact, I wouldn't even call it that at all. This book is about much more then just romance, it's a story about love and one man's will to survive. Mikaela "Mike" Campbell goes into a coma in the first chapter of the book and things are looking pretty grim for her. All the doctors cannot figure out why she won't wake up. Her husband, Liam, who is dangeously in love with her, is always by her side and her two children are worried sick. One night, a secret long burried is discovered and Mike shows signs of waking up for love- but not for love of her children or husband. For Mike has a secret- an obsession over a selfish man who broke her heart. Will Liam be able to overcome the obsticals thrown at him to put his family back together? Will Mike even wake up? _Angel Falls_ is a nail bitter and a five hanky read. Poor Liam is put through so much, but his love for his wife is so strong that he is willing to do anything for her- even bring back the one man that could destroy everything. The interesting thing about Mikaela's situation is that all these things are being said about her, but she is not there to tell the truth because of her coma. There are many parts where she is made out to be a selfish, conniving woman and because of this, the reader is a little put off by her. Still, Kristin Hannah has amazing power as an author. Her descriptions of Washington's mountains are stunning and will sweep you away to a place where your neighbors live a half a mile away from you. The character developement is stunning. It was not an all time keeper for me because of some of Mike's situation, but I'm breathlessly anticipating another book by Kristin Hannah. Even in books that are not living up to their full potential (as in _Angel Falls_) she is still an incredible writer.
Rating: Summary: I Wish It Had Been Longer! Review: This was such a nice little family story....I enjoyed all of the characters. I just wish there had been more to them--it seemed like the author skimmed several different surfaces and only let us "in" on Liam and Bretster. I hope she is working on something longer! It seemed like this one was just getting good when it ended......
Rating: Summary: Enjoy a TRUE LOVE STORY! Review: What a wonderful book! After so many disappointing reads lately, what a joy to find a simple, interesting, and heartwarming novel. A story of the love of a simple man for his young wife, you will enjoy this book thoroughly. Even the minor characters are well developed. My heartiest "thank you" to Kristin Hannah. I look forward to your next endeavour.
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE STORY AND WONDERFUL AUTHOR Review: What an amazing author and and incredible story! I am NOT an avid reader...picked this book up at the airport for a three hour flight. I COULD NOT put it down! I finished the book before going to bed...and have bought three other titles of Kristin Hannah's since! I am HOOKED on this author! Every book I read of hers, I can't put down. I highly recommend this book and EVERY book Kristin Hannah publishes!!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story Review: When Liam's wife, Michaela falls into a coma, he pushes his fears aside and calls her ex-husband, Julian, a hollywood celebrity, in hopes that his presence will pull her out of the coma. He discovers her life with Julian while she is in a coma, but knows it may be the only way to bring her back to him and her children. This story was so captivating. Ms Hannah really depicted Liam's struggle with the new discovery of her life before him, which she had kept a secret. And when she does come to and only remembers her ex-husband and not her current wife, the reader can really understand what Liam is going through as he continues to love his wife despite the realization that she may not love him like he does her. This is a definate must read. It is my first book by Kristin Hannah and it won't be the last. She is a wonderful writer.
Rating: Summary: What can I say? Review: While looking in the library, i came across the book "Angel Falls" by Kristin Hannah. It gripped me at first with the sequence where she gets hurt because it was so suspenseful, but other than that, the story was very depressing. The character of Liam is made to be such a sweet man and yet Mikaela, no matter how much they revered her, seemed to be a mildly selfish person, especially in the case where Liam loves her bone deep but she doesn't exactly love him back in that same way. It reminded me of unrequited love. Although I may be a sucker for "happily ever after" endings I must say that it was a bit enjoying. I would advise buyers that if they are looking for a cute and cozy romance, I would recommend "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks instead of this.
Rating: Summary: Beyond Excelent Review: WOW! What can I say... "Angel Falls" is by far one of the best books I have read yet. The book starts with the setting and some back ground of the small town of Last Bend, then with a blink of an eye the book moved into high gear never giving you time to think about putting the book down. A little boy sees his mom plundge to the ground off her horse and learns to let his faith and love of his family bring his mommy back. A father learns that love and love alone can get a family through any trouble you could face, and that honesty really is the best policy. A girl growing into a young adult, gets caught up in a whirl wind of what her life really is, and whom she really is. And a mom learns the differnce between love and obbsession, how much wasted time and energy she had put on a young womans childish dream and the reality of a grown adults true meaning of love. I cried, I laughed, I got angry... I was spun into this story that melted my heart and with all the pain that every one shared through this trauma,I wanted every single character even Jullian True to be happy.I would defiantly read this book again. It never slowed down and every detail was included not one thing was left out. Some books, once you get to the end make you feel like they rushed to end the book, and then it was all over and your left feeling like you have been asleep and you missed something ... but in Angel Falls this is not the case, the book was a 5 star up till the last word.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful Love story Review: Wow. What a wonderful book. I read Kristin Hannah's "On Mystic Lake" and fell in love with her writing style. I had to read more of her books. The next book i found of hers was "angel falls" This is a powerful story with characters who seem to come to life. Liam becomes the "perfect" husband in the way he shows how much he cares for Mike. Julian is a guy that ever girl has in her life. A man that you love because of passion and obsession. Julian is every girls dream and he knows that. He isn't able to love the way Mike (aka Kayla) needed him to. THis is a wonderful story with many exciting parts. The only bad thing about it is that it ended.
Rating: Summary: K.Hannah is one of the BEST! Review: You can never go wrong with Kristin Hannah. I own every one of her books and read them over and over. This book touches you in the deepest corners of your heart. Hannah understands how to reach an audiance and keep them coming back for more.
