Rating: Summary: Angel Falls Review: I did not read the book. Rather I listened to it on tape. I have listened to many, many books on tape that I felt were superbly done such as Beach Music and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. I felt that the audio version of this book did the author a great disservice. It was awful! The reader tried to sound like each character and failed, especially when he tried to imitate a nine year old boy. I think the book should be re-recorded by someone else.
Rating: Summary: Gripping Love Story! Review: I enjoyed this story very much and believe that anyone who likes books of this nature will enjoy this story as much as I did!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put this one down! Review: I first discovered Kristin Hannah last year when I read "On Mystic Lake," and enjoyed every page. So I was really excited to get "Angel Falls," already knowing what an incredible writer Hannah is. I began reading "Angel Falls" last night around 11:30, and before I knew it, it was 3:30 and I was turning the last page! What a story!Hannah has an incredible talent for descriptive illustration, making the reader feel as if they are right there with the characters. She also spins an incredible story, weaving her tale in and out through the entire family's perspective. Just fantastic. So, if you're willing to give up a good night's sleep for a marvelous story, "Angel Falls" is the book for you. Thank you, Kristin Hannah, for your gift of words.
Rating: Summary: A nice, solid read Review: I liked this book a lot, but I wanted to like it more. I thought it had a lot of unexplored potential. First, the movie star guy was so awful and two-dimensional that I couldn't figure out why the heroine EVER fell in love with him in the first place. (So I lost respect for her.) I had the same problem with the "hero" in Ms. Hannah's HOME AGAIN. He was never redeemed in my eyes and quite frankly, I didn't care if he got a heart transplant and lived or not. I also thought the conflict in this book didn't really start until Michaela woke up from the coma, then the book ended too quickly. I think the writing was very good, but the book needed more genuine sentiment and less sentimentality. I did love Dr. Liam and also loved the main message of the book which is that true love isn't the fireworks, but the glowing embers that can last a lifetime.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, powerful book Review: I loved this book. Hannah is a power in women's fiction.
Rating: Summary: A Vivid Reader Experience Review: I loved this book. The language and imagery is exquisite. Unlike many romances, "Angel Falls" is a book to be read slowly, savored and absorbed for the poetry of the language. With lines like, "The hours of their vigil dripped into one another and formed a day," the author turns this story into a vivid experience for the reader.
Rating: Summary: Wow. Review: I really couldn't put this book down. It's amazing. I started reading at 11:30 last night and didn't sleep until I finished the entire book--sometime around 3:30 am. I cried several times... real tears. And when I closed it I prayed for the kind of love shown by this family.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Novel by Kristin Hannah Review: I was lucky enough to receive this book in the mail one day before we lost our power for over 12 hours. It was so nice to be able to curl up with a great book even if it was by kerosene light. I was not disappointed in anyway with this book. It is a definitely a book you will not want to put down for long. The ending was a tear jerker! Buy it today!
Rating: Summary: About Time! Review: I've been waiting for this book ever since I finished reading Hannah's magnificent ON MYSTIC LAKE. I love her stories, maybe because she writes about everything I care about--relationships, family, marriages. ANGEL FALLS is simply wonderful. I read it too fast, and now I have to wait another year or so for the next Hannah. This is what Women's fiction is all about!
Rating: Summary: Disappointed in the end Review: I've enjoyed Ms. Hannah's books in the past and and liked this one until the end of the novel. I don't want to give the plot away, but frankly, the sudden about-face of the heroine is unconvincing. I'd check the book out at the library or wait for it in paperback. Not a keeper.
