Rating: Summary: This book was terrific!!! Review: "Angel Falls" was one of those stories that simply holds your attention until the end. I felt so sorry for Liam when he discovered "Mike's" secret. She really should have been honest with him in the first place. And I felt even more sorry for Jacey and Brett. Brett had to grow up very fast after Mike's accident. I'm glad the book ended as it did.... ....
Rating: Summary: A romance novel The Christian Right would be proud of Review: "Angel Falls" was very disapointing especially when I was expecting meatier fare. Usually I read Nora Roberts or Virgina Henly and I am used to either alot of plot twists or a few sexy bedroom romps. This book has niether. What it does have is a very tedious plot and absolutly NO sex!!!!!If you are looking for a juicy romance to sweep you away this book is not it!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: A heart-warming, wonderfully written story! Very inspirational, makes one look at their own lives. Shows the power of true love and devotion. Each tape (unabridged) made me run to get the next. I know I'll listen to it over and over again. Beautiful story!
Rating: Summary: Major Disapointment Review: After all the hype I read on some of the internet boards about this book I was really looking forward to reading it. I thought it started out fine but I really came to dislike the fact that Mikala kept such a major secrets from Liam throughout their entire marrage. I felt she was an extremely shelfish and cold person.I could never get back into the story since while I felt sorry for the children, I was hoping she would give Liam a break.
Rating: Summary: A great poolside read without the depth of "On Mystic Lake" Review: After my reaction to "On Mystic Lake," a wonderful piece of women's fiction, I picked up a few of Kristin Hannah's earlier romance paperbacks. While they were page turners, they also tended to be quite far-fetched - verging upon ridiculous. It was obvious that "On Mystic Lake" showcased Hannah's growth as a writer admirably, so when "Angel Falls" came out I immediately ordered it. I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. Sure, it's a great poolside read and a definite page turner. After the opening, it's hard not to like Mikaela, an obviously warm & giving woman, and her husband, Liam, a man of uncommon love. Where this all gets murky and a bit ludicrous is Julian True's arrival on the scene. Aside from the ridiculous name, there are self-serving allusions to characters who have appeared in previous Hannah novels and even a reference to the new "On Mystic Lake" movie being filmed with Annette Benning and Richard Gere! Hannah should perhaps stick with what she knows and leave Hollowood out of her novels. Too, after quite a build up, the book ends on a happy note, but rather sharply. But what the heck - it's summer & if you need a book for the beach, this is it!
Rating: Summary: The most moving story I have ever read! Review: And that is really saying something. I have read over 450 books since 1997 (I keep track) from all genres, and I have to say that it is a rare find to stay up all night and absorb a story as riveting and poignant as this one. I will treasure it always.
Rating: Summary: A heart-warming story of true love! Review: Angel Falls was a brillant and heart warming story. It demonstrates a husband's true love for his wife and how he will do anything to save her life. Liam was such an awesome example of what a husband should be, loving his wife despite her shortcomings. He was such a strong character and loved his wife so deeply. This book was so brilliant and definately a tear-jerker. I cried throughout the entire book because of its warmth and love. If you have not read this book and need a bounce to lift your spirits please read this love story because it will warm your heart.
Rating: Summary: Not her finest effort Review: Coincidentally, I read ANGEL FALLS consecutively with Barbara Delinsky's COAST ROAD, so maybe it wasn't a fair contrast, but both novels deal with virtually identical themes, a wife/mother who lies unconscious in a hospital. How the women get to the hospital differ, yet that's just a detail; the exploration of the impact of the enormity of their illnesses on their families, and the uncertainty as to whether each woman will survive, are absolutely the same. Delinsky's characters were far more believable and sympathetic--even, in the case of COAST ROAD, the self-absorbed ex-husband. Her characters evolved in response to their crisis. Again in contrast, the most intriguing plot point in ANGEL FALLS, the hidden first marriage of the heroine, could have, should have, been explored with far more information and interest. Fans of Kristin Hannah may be disappointed in this eagerly awaited novel.
Rating: Summary: Soul gripping love story Review: I absolutely could NOT put this book down and had to finish it in one day. This is my first read with Kristin Hannah and I found her to be a compelling author. Not only did I cry throughout the entire book, but I also was captured immediately and absorbed thoroughly into the lives of the characters. I was able to "feel" their emotions and pain and their love for one another. I hardly read romance novels, yet when I am compelled to do so, I tend to seek those novels out that are not mushy and gushy, but those that are more realistic and of speak of a true and unrequited love! This is such a book. If you are looking for mush and gush you will not find it here. If you looking for a contemporary and more realistic "love story", this is the book for you! I found this story to be heart wrenching at times and yet the love and devotion that Dr. Liam Campbell displayed towards his wife during their marriage, is the love that most of us women long for! Sometimes it takes tragedy in one's life to verbally express all those "take-for-granted" things we forget to say to those we love. Liam's love for Mikela is genuine and true, and in fact, so true and deep, that he even searches out Mikela's first husband to help bring Mikela out of her coma and back to her family which adores and loves her. The reader is gripped by the emotions of her two children, Jacey and Brett and what they are feeling and experiencing. At times you just want to take Brett into your arms and just hug him! The author did an absolutely wonderful job of completely capturing the reader's attention, emotions and heart throughout the entire book. I felt like I was right there, living it all with them. Very few books do this to me. While Mikela was in the coma as a result of falling off her horse, she "awakened" to the fact that her undying flame of love for her ex-husband was really an obsession and did not and would not stand the test of time. She finally let go of her entrapping pain and misery and saw the real, time-tested love, which Liam has for her and the children. It was the daily devotion of her husband by her bedside as well as their love as a family, which helped bring Mikela out of her coma. I absolutely loved this book, which tugged at my heartstrings like no other book has. Let yourself be carried away into the lives of the Campbells and you too will feel like you are right there. Have plenty of tissues available and may we all find that time tested love in our lives like Liam has for Mikela!!!
Rating: Summary: Great reading Review: I couldn't put this book down. I have read most of Kristin Hannah's books and have not been disappointd yet. I usually read a book in 2 days since I travel so much. The way Liam loved Mike was truly touching. He stayed by her side no matter what he found out. It is a must read for all Kristin Hannah readers.
