Summary: Good. But not great.
Review: I turn to John Grisham for the same reason I turn to Michael Crichton. Generally, when I'm looking for a relaxing read -- something that won't require too much thought or stress -- I pick up Grisham. "The Firm" did not by any means disappoint -- it provided the mystery and intrigue that I hoped to find in it. It was, however, a bit tedious in spots. Perhaps the miserable attempt at turning it into a movie damaged my view of the book. In short, the book is worth the time to read it, but don't expect to be blown away by it.

Summary: Grisham is a great writer for his time and place.
Review: Let's not compare Grisham's stories to Dickens or Tolstoi! The Firm is a very entertaining and interesting story. It may seem a bit plain and simple, but hey! you're not looking for something like "The War and Piece", are you? This book is like most of those Hollywood movies: plain, simple but entertaining with lots of action -- exactly what you need if you just want to relax, sitting with a beer on your sofa reading/watching "The Firm".

P.S. if you don't think so, feel free to email me.

Summary: Almost
Review: I liked the book very much. The only thing I didn't like about it was that sometimes it was very confusing and difficult to understand, but afterall, the theme is very interesting.

Summary: WAKE UP
Review: There should be ratings with minus signs. Grisham is a lousy writer, plain and simple. All of his books stink!

Summary: A damn fun book
Review: This is one of the most captivating books I have read. Though some criticism maintains that it isn't exactly a literary work, it is definitely a great read if you want to take a break and have some fun. It's the type of book who makes nonreaders want to read. Definitely thrilling, my favorite from grisham thus far.

Summary: Legal thriller a fun read but not so believable
Review: This book keeps your attention but is somewhat contrived. It was hard to envision the characters as real people. I stopped counting how many times Grisham used the word "perfect" or "perfectly" or something like it. He made everyone seem like a precision instrument. Read it for the sake of the thrill, but don't expect much else.

As for the ending, I left with the thought that I would rather be one of the indicted associates who serves a few years in prison, than Mitch McDeere who serves the rest of his life, in fear of death, on a deserted isle with nothing to do but think about (there's nothing on which to spend) the millions he misappropriated from his client. Of course, I guess he can drink Red Stripe all day and have sex with his wife, and maybe that prostitute on the other island. So maybe it's not such a bad life, mon.

By the way, speaking as a lawyer, this book has nothing to do with the practice of law.

Summary: This is a great book.
Review: I started reading this book for the hell of it on a plane trip home. I really got into it though. If you have only seen the movie then you don't know the story. The movie is completely different than the book, and the book is decidedly better. If you aren't reading Shakespeare and are interested in law, you will really like this and other Grisham books.

Summary: Compeling and Thrilling Story, Liked the End too.
Review: The firm was the first Novel I read by Grisham. It started out capturing my attention that i read the first 200 pages at a go. Then towards the end, when they were running away from the Fibbies and the Mob got a bit confusing on where they were But I liked the way it ended, on a boat heading to an island with 9 Mil. in the Bank..:-)))

I Liked the way he took over when he knew that there was no way out of the firm and started dictating his terms to the FBI..Loved how he Jerked Terrance around. Overall, it is one of the best Novels I had ever read and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in Law..

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a great novel.
Review: If you're looking for a great piece of literature, "The Firm" isn't for you. But if you are the kind of person who likes edge of your seat suspense, you should definetly read this book.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Sorry, I did not like it!
Review: I bought this book when it was first published, and I did not lke it. I read also the Italian translation, and I did not like it. I watched the movie, and I did not like it ( I am not a fan of Tom Cruise, do you believe it?). The characters are all stereotypes, there is no originality, and I finally found out all the story a bit boring.
