Rating: Summary: Best Book by John Grisham Review: I started reading John Grisham's books just a while ago, and I wonder why I didn't read The Firm first. This book was so good. I read an average of 5-6 books a week, and I think this is my favorite book. Mitch McDeere, the protagonist in this book is a poor guy freesh out of Harvard in the top 5 of his class. This firm really wants him and gives him a new house, a BMW, and a really good pay. Then when he thinks things are going well, he finds out a secret from the FBI. I really loved this book and would recommend this awesome book to anyone. Grisham is an excellent writer and all his books are very good.
Rating: Summary: Just try to put this down once you've started Review: I won't even mention any of the plot points here because I don't want to ruin even a part of a great story for anyone. Back when this book was all the rage I somehow remained blissfully ignorant of the whole dog and pony show. Someone gave a copy to my wife to read, which happened to correspond to a weekend when she got sick and stayed in bed. Bored, I sat down one Friday night and picked the book up to give it a quick look. Hours later I finished, having read the entire book through without even a stop for the bathroom. This was a great story. If you haven't read it already, take it along for your next vacation. Even if you saw the movie and hated it like I did, read the book. It isn't even the same story.
Rating: Summary: The Firm Review: The Firm was definetly a very good book that never bored me. It kept me on the edge the whole time i was reading the book. I especially like how Grisham transitions the prestigious firm into something alot less likeable as the book goes on. I also like that Grisham does not make the outcome of the book totally favorable towards the main character and his wife. The book was definetly a good read and i would recommend this book to anyone that likes suspense, action, or John Grisham.
Rating: Summary: A mystery-suspense novel worth reading... Review: The Firm is a mystery novel about a young lawyer, Mitch McDeere. Raised in a poor family, Mitch worked very hard and graduated among the top three at Harvard Law School. After graduating and marrying, Mitch was still poor¡X until one day he is offered a job from Bendini, Lambert, and Locke, a Memphis law firm. Not only is he offered a high salary, but he is also given a brand new BMW, a new house, and many bonuses. It was the dream job of every lawyer. It all seemed too good to be true¡Xand it was. After a couple weeks in the firm, Mitch becomes suspicious and he starts to noticesome mysterious clues. For one, the job wasn¡¦t all that great, but there was a turnover rate of zero. Secondly, two executive partners go on a trip to the Grand Caymans are killed. And lastly, after an FBI detective approaches him, questioning and warning him about Bendini, Locke, and Lambert, he is sure there is a secret within the firm, and is determined to find out¡Xeven if it costs his life. After some spying and eavesdropping, Mitch learns the truth. The so-called ¡§law firm¡¨ he works in is actually owned by and part of the most powerful mafia in Chicago (how ironic). However, there are only two ways to get out of this firm. The first option is to keep this secret for your whole life and to work in the firm until you retire. The second option is to die. The mafia and the senior partners of the firm are getting suspicious of what Mitch knows, and he either has to make his decision soon or possibly think of another way out. I loved The Firm because it was full of suspense and I had no idea what was going to happen next, which explains why I stayed up the whole night reading the entire book in order to see what happens in the end.

Rating: Summary: too much, too soon Review: The book is gripping at the start with its theme of a mysteriously sinister law firm, but Grisham reveals everything too soon rather than let the suspense build. From then on its just a thriller, with the good guys in white hats and bad guys in black. It would have been nicer if there had been some surprises - some bad guys turn out to be heros, that king of thing.
Rating: Summary: One awesome book Review: This book was one of the best books I have ever read. It was so awesome and kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I had to look up a few words, but other then that the reading was very easy. They described the characters so well that you could actually imagine them in your head. When they spoke you knew what tone they would use and what kind of person they really were. I would recommend this book for everyone. It was truly a thriller and very exciting!
Rating: Summary: My first Grisham, very pleased. Review: The Firm is an excellent suspense novel-start to finish. This is the first Grisham novel that I have read, and I am very pleased with his writing. The suspense slowly builds through the beginning, building intrigue and hinting at things to come. By the middle of the book, it becomes extremely difficult to put the book down as anticipation of the nearing climax grows. It is very easy to identify with Mitch because of all the background information given. As he prepares for action, the reader is left in question as to what McDeere has planned and the pages continue to turn rapidly. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys an suspenseful plot, right to the last page.
Rating: Summary: One of Grisham's best Review: The Firm is an extremely fast paced thriller, that you won't want to put down. It is packed with classic Grisham twists that kept me wondering exactly how the book was going to end. Here's a bit of a summary: Mitch Mcdeere is a fresh Harvard Law graduate who's looking at the top firms across the country for his first job. Mostly he is thinking about going to a firm on Wall Street or Chicago, because the pay is enormous. But, he interviews with a firm in Memphis, where they offer a generous salary, and a new beamer once he signs on. He thinks that all this is wonderful, maybe a bit too good to be true. Then he founds out their little dirty secret, which could cost him his life... I immensely enjoyed The Firm. I've only read a few of his others, but so far, this one has been my favorite.
Rating: Summary: Grisham is the Master Review: This book is definitely one of John Grisham's masterpieces. Wonderful plot and great suspense that makes this book hard to put down. Never to one sided that you do not get to see what is going on with either Mitch or Abby or the Firm. *****
