Rating: Summary: Great book. Review: A young lawyer straight out of law school goes to work for a law firm that turn out to be crooked. This is the story of how he gets out of trouble after his timesheets are altered by the firm in turn making him suspect. This is a gripping tale that leaves you dangling then lashes back with force. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: Not bad Review: Good starter book, got long and dragged out a bit. The movie was AWFUL, if you read this book, and like it, DO NOT see the movie, it will leave a bad taste in your mouth!!!

He has a choice of various lawyer firms eventually he picks one, a choice that he will regret. The firm he works for fronts for the Mafia. The FBI are wanting him to find evidence for them, at the same time the Mafia are trying to kill him.
Rating: Summary: Implausible, but thrilling Review: John Grisham is arguably the best-known author of legal thrillers. Each of his works shines with detail and fluid storytelling. "The Firm" is no exception. From the beginning to the cat-and-mouse chase in the end, the novel is excellent. The only complaint I have is about the story itself. The small law firm featured in the novel is a front for Mafia operations, and each lawyer is bribed with a new BMW, an affordable mortgage, and payment of college loans in return for absolute secrecy about the firm's involvement with the Mob. Mitch McDeere, a brilliant Harvard grad, is thrown headfirst into this law firm, and as soon as he senses something fishy, he is being persued from all sides: the FBI, the Mob, and his colleagues at the firm. He must make a decision: to do what he believes is right and risk death, or to keep the secret and hope that the FBI never infiltrates the law firm. That seems a little outrageous. "The Firm" can be classified with "The Testament" and "The Pelican Brief" as one of John Grisham's implausible plots. However, I understand that this is a work of fiction, and if you can suspend disbelief, you will enjoy this book. If you've seen the movie version, let me assure you that the book is much better.
Rating: Summary: Brillant Review: Mr. Grisham's best work, about a workoholic lawyer, a rising star in the law firm of Bendini, Lambert and Locke. Paying him eighty thousand bucks, a BMW, a low intrest mortage and a chance to be a millonaire isn't an offer one would refuese. Michell Y. McDeere, a young figure, top in bar exam and third of class in Harvard law, he has chance to join others, he made a mistake in joining a Morolto controlled firm
Rating: Summary: A thrilling novel for those of all ages Review: I recently saw the movie and was enthralled with it and had to read the book. As always, the book was a lot better than the movie. However, by seeing the movie first I was able to picture the people and events more clearly. Although a bit detailed at times, it was hard to put down. It really made me wonder if there are any firms out there like this. I've been having trouble books to find since I'm going into 8th grade and don't like sappy summer books, so I'm glad to have found Grisham novels. I would recommend The Firm to anyone wanting a suspenseful novel and a quick read.
Rating: Summary: A great read, even after seeing the movie! Review: This was my first introduction to John Grisham and I loved every minute of this page turner. Actually, there were times when I was afraid to turn the page for fear of what was going to happen next! I thought the story was truly engaging and suspenseful and had a much better ending than the one used in the movie. And if you haven't seen the movie, don't bother. You will be terribly disappointed after reading the book.
Rating: Summary: A must read for legal story lovers Review: 100 times better than the movie. If you loved the movie you will enjoy this book even more. It keeps you biting your finger nails to the end. One of John's best works.
Rating: Summary: Still a good read Review: I saw the movie "The Firm" years ago and, unusually for me, the story was so good that it stuck in my mind. So, I went into reading the book with many of the details of the story still clear to me - I could even picture the scenes in the movie. As with other films I've seen that have been made of Grisham's books, the moviemakers have stayed very close to the book - a little less with this one, but you won't be terribly unhappy with the places where they've taken liberties. I've already given my opinion away, really, any movie that I remember well for more than a year has to be good. In this case, the plot surprises and its complexity keep you fascinated. Grisham is such a good writer that even having seen the movie, you don't mind seeing the plot unfold again. It's not Tom Cruise, but then the casting was excellent! Do read the book with or without him in mind!
Rating: Summary: The book that put John Grisham on the map Review: This is a very well plotted book. It is one that is impossible to put down and will have you up late at night finishing it. It was the first of all the Grisham books that I have read, and it is still his best.
