Summary: We almost gave up on this series, but are glad we didn't!
Review: My nine year old and I fell in love with the Baudelaire stories shortly after publication of the first book in the series, and have waited anxiously for each installment. Our love affair waned dramatically after we read "The Miserable Mill" and "The Austere Academy." These books were simply too dark for us, and the tone of the often humorous asides didn't sound like the witty Lemony Snickett that we had come to love. Lemony, however, is back! We really enjoyed this story of the three Baudelaires' adventures in and around the elevator to the penthouse of their latest guardians, Jerome and Esme Squalor. The description of the Squalors' lives revolving around what is "in" and what is "out" reminded us of what life can be like in our own small town! While we knew that the end result of the Baudelaire's stay with the Squalors would be disaster and the reappearance of the evil Count Olaf, we laughed at their dinner at the "Cafe Salmonella" and at Sunny's latest inventive use of her teeth. We have come to accept that none of these installments will end well for the plucky and devoted Baudelaires, but are secretly glad. After all, when the happy ending comes, these dark tales will vanish! We are awaiting publication of "The Vile Village." Maybe this book, too, will remind us of home.

Summary: Snicket's new book
Review: This book is Snicket's best so far. I won't tell you the ending but I'll give you a hint: this book is very misleading.

Summary: "ERSATZ" is best work yet!
Review: "The Ersatz Elevator" is probaly Snicket's best work yet. It is the Sixth volume of the wonderful "A series of unfortunate events" books. In this volume, The Baudelaire Orphans are adopted(Yet again!) by some friends(?) of their 'Late' parents, The Squalors. Orphans are "in", so the Squalors are happy to have them. But apart from Orphans, some rather ghastly things are in too, such as Pinstripe suits, Parsley soda, and stairs. Unfortunately(no duh!), the Squalors live in a Penthouse on the 66th floor, and Elevators are out. And when Count Olaf shows up, things get even worse!

Summary: Funny, Amuseing, Puzzling, and Very Sad
Review: Well, Snicket is back, and i think better than ever before. If you have read any of his other works, you may have an idea of what this book is about. If not, well read further. Violet, Klause, and Sunny, three very resourceful and bright children; are at there 6th foster home. Their fosteer mom- Estme'-dosen't care about them except that for the fact that orphans are "in". That is basicly her life-caring about what is "in" and "out". They are miserable-as before, and Count Olaf is hot on their trail-disguised as an auctionere named Gunther. To find out more about the book-read The Ersatz Elevator! **NOTE**: this story is BASED on a TRUE REAL LIFE STORY! Just thought you would want to know! :)

Summary: A cutting indictment of FASHION and those who follow it.
Review: Esmé Squalor is obsessed with what's IN, and as orphans are currently IN, she has adopted the Baudlaire orphans. Unfortunately, elevators are OUT, so getting to Esmé's penthouse on the 66th floor of 667 Dark Avenue is a fashionable but exhausting climb.

If you've ever known people who lounge about on uncomfortably stylish furniture, worn hideously fashionable clothes, or attended monotonously hip parties, this book is for you. Handler has had a bit of a break from writing this series, and the downtime has paid off -- this is the wittiest installment yet. Shades of The Basic Eight appear in the form of Café Salmonella (remember Mocha Monkey and Death by Decaf?), and Sunny's usually indecipherable outbursts now occasionally make sense (as she holds up some of Justin's neckties, she exclaims "Armani!").

All this, a clue about Beatrice, and a new (unsolved) mystery surrounding the Baudlaire Mansion make for another engrossing installment in the Unfortunate series. The seventh book is due out soon, and I can hardly wait!

Summary: This series of books is the best!
Review: My mom told me the 6th book would be published this month. Instead(much to my suprise) it was published in February. I loooved this book, and before I was waiting to see what V.F.D. meant. I hardly even knew the name of the 7th book and it is already being published. Sincerly, Martin Greenberg

Summary: This book is AWESOME!!! I'd give it a billion stars!
Review: This is my favorite book in the whole series so far. I love Lemony Snicket's (that's a pen name!) sense of humor. I love these books and if you are a good reader, do me a favor and go to the nearest library or bookstore and BUY OR BORROW THEM!!! You will NOT be disappointed. Whatever you do, don't read them out of order. It totally spoils the rest of the books.

Summary: A must-read book!
Review: The woeful era for the Baudelaire orphans continues as they live with their new guardias in their seventy-one room apartment with Count Olaf right under their noses! Like the previous books in "A Series of Unfortunate Events", this book is filled with twists and turns, misery, horror, and discomfort. This exciting, but sad book is a must-read for those who like this series.

THIS IS A COOL BOOK, SO IF YOU LIKE THIS SERIES, HURRY UP AND READ THIS!

Summary: this book totally rocks my world!!!!
Review: Because I am a big reader, you will commonly find me in a book store, searching for new titles to read, etc. On one such trip I saw THE BAD BEGINNING, book the first in A Series of Unfortunate Events. I read it, loved it, and got the books 2-4 for my birthday. At a later date, I got THE AUSTERE ACADAMEY, the fifth book. They were all totally awesome and the fifth one ended in a cliffhanger, so I was on the lookout for the sixth book. The first day it was out, I bought THE ERSATZ ELEVATOR and it was so good! I was done it before lights out. You can't put Lemony Snicket's writing into a category, but if you like good books, you'll like this one. READ IT READ IT READ IT!!!!!! There isvile guardians, kidnapping, revenge, mystery, comedy, it's all in there.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Suspenseful...and long
Review: Curl up by the fire with this mysterious, suspenseful Baudelaire book. The children suspect nothing, thinking they are almost safe from Count Olaf's treachery. But how can they be too sure? Esmé and Jerome seem nice enough, but you can't trust anyone in a situation alike to the Baudelaires's. Can they rescue the Quagmire triplets? Will they find out the mystery of the hallway and V.F.D.? What is the true identity of the doorman, and why does he hide his hands? Sunny, Klaus, and Violet Baudelaire encounter two red herrings, tragic seperations, and traps in Book 6. (not to mention the element of surprise) But all in all, you'll find what's "in" and what's "out," from aqeous martinis to parsely soda, from orphans to ocean decorations hilariously funny.
