Rating: Summary: This was the best book I ever read!!! Review: I read this book in 2 days flat. It was my favorite of all of Francine's books and I loved it. I have never been so touched by a book in my life. There was not a boring page in the whole book. A great love story but not mushy. Wonderfull!!!!
Rating: Summary: God spoke to me thru this book Review: I believe there is no coincidences with God. The timeing and contents of this book was amazing. My life paralleled this book so closely that it was eerie. I have been struggling with similar life changes initiated by my husband and seeing it as a inconvience. Never did I look at it as God's master plan because then I would have to yield my own way. The comments that each character made within the book and my life were very similar. Even after reading about her being pulled over for a speeding ticket, my son came home from High School with his first spending ticket. But God even allowed that to happen to drive home the point that he was trying to tell me something thru this book. Let me tell you at a cost of $100.00 I got the point. I learned and am trying to change my life to reflect that my will is not the most important thing in Gods master plan. But when I submit to the changes around me and let God lead and direct our family, oh how much better life can be. THANK YOU FRANCINE for being an instrument of Gods' in changing my life. It is greatly appreciated.
Rating: Summary: An incredible, emotional book! Review: This is a wonderful, heart wrenching story. It is the first novel I've read that accurately reflects the dynamics of marriage. More importantly, it shows how only through complete surrender to God, can we see our own faults and and stop placing blame for our miseries on everyone else. The book came so close to my actual conversion experience--I could have written that part myself. It is emotionally draining and uplifting at the same time.
Rating: Summary: What a picture of what the power of God can do in a life! Review: I found that this book very powerfully depicted the way people find their way into the light of Jesus' love. All of her life, Sierra had heard sermons in church and from her parents, but it wasn't until she was caught in the web of worldliness, rejection, and self-centeredness that she could hear God's voice. The theme of forgiveness-God's ability to forgive us no matter what-is hard to understand. Sierra's ability to forgive her cheating husband re-enacts Christ's great commandment.
Rating: Summary: This was one FANTASTIC book! Review: This was such a great book involving real life situations and learning the love and power of God. I think Sierra was normal with her being stubborn and difficult. These are patterns everyone can relate to. Sometimes it takes a crisis for us to finally reach out to God and turn our lives over. I have to admit...Sierra forgave Alex and I don't know if I could have done that.(even with God in my life!) This is a must read book!! It reminds people that God is alive and out there for the taking! All you have to do is reach out.
Rating: Summary: Engrossing, real life situations - I'd recommend. Review: The heroine did make me want to shake her sometimes and yes, it was hard to see her forgive her far from perfect husband. Powerful forgiveness message - that no matter what - deserving or undeserving, right or wrong, we need to forgive. For ourselves first. If you didn't get it the first time, read it again.
Rating: Summary: After reading the Mark of the Lion Series, this falls short. Review: This book was kind of slow and boring. You could put it down for days and not care.I would not recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Good in some ways, VERY BAD in others. Review: Okay, I'd like to begin by saying that I thought the story of how Sierra found her faith in God again was very touching. But, the story of she and her husband was very disappointing. I mean, sure, I believe in forgiveness, yet I also believe that repentance is equally important. Alex cheated on his wife and never really apologized or showed her that he was truly repentant for what he had done. As a matter of fact, he only went back to Sierra when he realized that Elizabeth didn't care at all about him. It didn't have to do a thing with realizing that he was really in love with his wife.
Rating: Summary: Wow. Why was I so affected? Review: This was one of the first Christian fiction works I've read and it really made me think in a way that books don't usually cause. I couldn't forget about it. I thought it was real. I was so drawn into Sierra (who was so stupid, but came around). And I could kind of understand Alex (but that does not excuse him). As Christians we are taught to forgive, but when it comes down to it, it's a tough thing to do. Maybe I liked this because it made me question how I would handle myself in this situation. But I loved it and have recommended it to many friends!
Rating: Summary: The intriguing story of two lives -- a hundred years apart. Review: Rivers has penned an engaging tale of love put to the ultimate test -- and not found wanting. This was the first "romance" this man has read, yet both my attention and my emotions were held to the end. The Oregon Trail "thread" is a nice touch and vividly illustrates the "timelessness" of the human condition in all its beauty and ugliness. It was satisfying to see both the women of then and now grow in strength the more they leaned on God. I'm definitely going to give this one to the woman in my life.
