Rating: Summary: The Best Dream Review: The Farthest Away mountain, is by far one of my most favorites of all time. Reading it in grade school and then again in high school, even now in college give great dreams. This fantastic tale of a young girl and her aspirations is a treasure for any age. Young and old alike have enjoyed it and found it powerful, and awe inspiring.
Rating: Summary: far away Review: The farthest-away mountain is an excellent story of a fantasy story that could really happen to someone if they really tried like Dakin (the main character). She is going to try to climb the farthest away mountain which no women or man has ever climbed. She starts to climb and she meets a couple of new friends. she has help on the mountain along the way but not any help her parents. she had lots of help from a frog and three gargoyles, zog, og and vog. she also has a little troll that lives at her house and helps her all the way until he freezes again. If you want to find out what else happens to Dakin then read the book. (Its a really good book.)
Rating: Summary: A part of my childhood Review: This book is the only book my mother ever read to my brothers and I out loud, not including picture books. I remember listening to her read it and loving the story. It's one of the few things I remember clearly about when i was very young. Over time I forgot the title and author, and all I remembered was the story. (In fact, I went to look it up on Amazon only knowing that the title included the word "mountain".) This book is great for young readers, and it was my first serious introduction to fantasy, which I really love now. It led the way first to Ella Enchanted and then to Lord of the Rings, The Fionavar Tapestry, and more great books.
Rating: Summary: the best book ever Review: This is a classic fairy tale about an adventuresome little girl who is drawn to a mountain that is considered evil by the people of her village. During her journey she encounters an ogre, gargoyles, a magic pool, a frog, an evil witch, and more! The suspenseful tale captures the imagination and leaves children on the edge of their seat. I read it every year to my second grade class. The kids LOVE this book and have (through various years) been motivated to act the story out, write their own fairy tales, discuss the elements of fairy tales, and more! This book is not widely known. Maybe that is a good thing because then someone would want to make it into a movie, thus diminishing the use of imagination and sense of enjoyment that kids gain from hearing this story. BUT, I believe every child would benefit from hearing such a fantastic tale, and for that I am sad it is not better known and more highly regarded.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ Review: This is one of my top fantasy stories. I read this amazing book when I was in junior high and could not put it down once I began. From the moment I began it until the unfortunate moment that it ended, I was completely engrossed in it. It was like watching a favorite movie, each step your character makes is a step that you take, and each moment of joy or sadness is a moment that squeezes your heart. This is a story about a girl who wakes up each morning and finds that something is missing in her life, and when the chance for adventure arrives she steps out into the world to fullfill her dreams. Read this book! Have your child read it! You will not be disappointed!

Rating: Summary: amazing Review: This was one of the first books I read as a child. It plays on the imaginative whims of any young girl or boy; full of gargoyles, royalty, mystery, true love, and many other forms of fantasy that any child would adore. I would recommend this to anyone, from a 5 year old boy to a 95 year old grandmother. It is such a beautiful book, and I still own my copy that I first read at 6 years old. Parents, this book also makes good bedtime reading, and teachers, this book is perfect for story time in class.
Rating: Summary: I love it and im fifteen years old Review: When I was little I used to make my mom read it to me. I think she read that book a total of 6 times, we read it so much that the book fell apart. I hope this helps you decide to purchase this book. I also hope that it brings as much joy to your kids as it did me.
